This video literally had me laughing for nearly the full 22 minutes. I particularly like 'You talk yourself too much'. The idea of you sitting in front of a camera silently with random cuts to sharks with no commentary is hilarious and also terrifying. A bit like that Andy Pandy clip (thanks for the nightmares). I hope you do more videos like this, as they are hilarious. P.S. Sorry for referring to you as a shark 'expert'. I enjoy the casual summary of shark research and quick facts you post. It's just snippets of a world a lot of people don't get to know about. It's like watching a documentary instead of reading research papers- sometimes a casual understanding is okay. You still want that information to be accurate, but research studies are pretty dry and aren't always readable to the average person. My mother wanted to go into marine biology when she went back to university (she ended up studying arthoprods instead- mostly parasitic mites like varroa). Keep doing your thing; engage the world with casual, fun science because we need more of it.

You encourage deeper thinking while advocating for sharks and other marine life during a climate emergency in a manner that is both accessible and fun! Admirable attitude @Ironsmiler - I think you hit the nail on the head! Some people do get snide with anyone who they perceive as having accomplished & achieved something they didnt - even if it's not of their interest. After you read the comments on your hair, I couldn't keep from being distracted by the wave shaped hair thing you got going on lol. Only recently found your channel but enjoying it immensely. The video on the USS Indianapolis was the first I saw and something you said reminded me of a question I've had for some time. You mentioned of the sounds made by the ship, as it sank, would have attracted the attention of sharks that were farther away. And always wondered what happened with sharks and other marine life during big naval battles of the 20th century. During the Battle of Midway, an Ensign George Gay had survived his crash into the sea (only survivor of the 30 men in his squadron) and ended up floating in the middle of the Japanese fleet. He had the ringside seat to the carnage of 3 of the 4 carriers being sunk. So with remembering what happened to the crew of the USS Indianapolis and how the dead, wounded and dying drew the sharks in, was that ever a concern during the battle or did all the noise and shockwaves of detonating ordnance chase them far away? He wasn't picked up until almost 24 hours later and he was in the water the whole time. So was he ever in any higher chance of danger than usual because of all the dead bodies? Or the opposite because they were still staying away?
@waterdragon2224
@waterdragon2224 Жыл бұрын
That’s an interesting question. I’d like to hear Kris’ answer on that as well. 👍 I would imagine the shockwaves would deter sharks and whales… it would be rather loud to them at least no?

Can't say this is the content I'm dying to see, but it was pretty funny! Glad you don't let the negativity get to you, love the channel!

Hi, big fan of your hair here. Keep up the good work on the vids, mate! Never understood why people leave comments like these. Life can be shitty sometimes, usually it's just better to throw out some positivity to make it a little better for those around you. 🙃

I find your videos entertaining and informative. I do think you should have a shirt made featuring a shark wearing your hair though.

This was soon funny. Reminds me of James Blunt. The sarcastic replies to stupid comments is my type of humour. I've been tuning in for a while and never knew you had idiots who feel the need to moan instead of just not watching 😂😂. This has made my day. You should definitely do another show like this. Perhaps set up Shark Bytes 2 and do it on there.

I really enjoy your videos! While I didn't go into marine biology (I'm far more of an artist) ive had an absolute love for the ocean and sea life, and now that I've found your channel I listen to your content a LOT while I work on my art content! 😊

I honestly love this channel. I’ve learnt so much since my first one, and I’m cautiously obsessed with sharks. Next time I’m in Cornwall I’m grabbing a kayak, sending an invite and hoping to spot a blue shark or two.

I m a quite new follower but I admit I subscribed mostly because of your charming talk and the nice manners. I think haters are averywere and you should appriciate them because, as Kanye West said once, "they are your biggest fans". Keep going mate!

Despite you having more hair than me, unlike some haters on here, I don't mind. I find your posts very educational and enjoyable. It's refreshing to see a young English guy offering up some actual academic-based insight. Plus, he's a Star Wars fanboy so respect.

I enjoy that you justifiably went for Ocean Ramsey knowing you'd face shit. This reminds me of taking the piss out of my friend for his dad being a marine biologist. When you are 14 it's fun to call him a "fish doctor".
