My Google search of this thing also found NO sources other than Shark Week's """documentaries""" or content relating to them; I found at least one business and a band named Rookin, but both appeared after this nonsense started airing. Discovery has entirely abandoned any pretexts; they're going full Ancient Aliens. These might technically be worse; everything in AA is nonsense, but the filmed monuments are real (I think; I watched a minute in total). That's...something, at least. While these have footage of the wrong sharks 😂😂😂😂

I grew up in south Louisiana, and the idea of locals being afraid of a bull shark is hilarious to me. We all grew up swimming in lakes and bayous while alligators bathed on the banks a stone’s throw away (maybe not the wisest thing, in hindsight). I imagine that people accustomed to seeing 10-13ft alligators on a daily basis would be intrigued by the novelty of seeing a large bull shark, but frightened to the point of mythologizing? No way.

Similar in Florida. Tourists get freaked out about a local bullshark hot spot, while we swim arms length from them. We grew up splashing heavily getting thrown off tubes while listening to bull gators bellowing in the weeds.

Hello, thank you for your entertaining and well researched videos. I wondered if I could make a request for a video? I am from the UK and have been lucky enough to swim in many places around the world but since I have had children I have become more cautious about safety when in the ocean. Could you possibly make a video please about how to assess the safety of snorkelling in certain areas where there may be sharks? I understand the sea itself is the most dangerous bit. We are going to Fueterventura and I would love to take my child snorkelling there as I have done before. I only recently read about how there are hammerheads, whites and mako’s around the islands, but is that something that should really concern the average snorkeler? Sorry this is in a comment but I was not sure how to contact you. Thank you again.

Hi Kristian, recent subscriber to your channel and I wondered if you might have an opinion on something I have noticed while watching some shark encounter videos on YT. I recently watched 30 different scenes of peoples' encounters with sharks, and one thing that I noticed is that tiger sharks appear to be more persistent than other sharks, as in more effort and time was required to dissuade them from approaching. One particular clip I remember, a spear fisherman, who may have had fish, had to poke the tiger shark numerous times with his speargun before the shark retreated, it circled him for several minutes, occasionally charging him, whereby he poked it to divert it's charge but it went right back to circling him, before charging him again. Is this normal behaviour for tiger sharks, or was it a combination of dead fish and a hungry shark that made it so persistent?

Greetings from Georgia USA. I've recently discovered your channel, and have been binge watching your videos. Great content! I agree that Bud lite tastes like piss. If you want an American beer, with a shark theme even, you should try to get ahold of Narragansett. It's the beer that Quint was drinking on the Orca in the scene where he crushes the can, and then Hooper crushes the styrofoam cup. A bit of trivia, that beer was chosen for the scene because Narragansett was the first brewery to use aluminum cans, as in the early 70s almost all beers were in steel cans, so it being aluminum, it was easier for Robert Shaw to crush the can. Keep making great content. You have a new subscriber. Cheers mate!

I certainly havent heard of the voodoo shark before this show aired and I saw it when it first aired. I also noticed that the were using clips of white sharks and tiger sharks in the reenactments too. Mabey you could do another drunk shark science episode on Old Hitler. Also, is next week gonna be the movie commentary on The Black Demon?

Yeah, why would they call a hammerhead, “Old Hitler,” like it was around before actual Hitler? Or like it was anywhere near as bad as Hitler? Even great hammerheads prefer fleeing to biting, so it just makes no sense!
@sharks3653
@sharks3653 Жыл бұрын
@@logandelacruz2152 Its because (according to the shark week documentary Monster Hammerhead) old Hitler was first spotted during WW2. Allied boats were dispatched to the Bahamas to keep watch for German U boats. But they saw a massive shark bigger than any hammerhead on record. The situation with that could just be the same as the voodoo shark.

@@sharks3653that’s even more ridiculous, as the lifespan expected for great hammerheads is 20-30 years. So such a big shark in the 40’s when it was supposedly sighted would’ve been at the older end and died long before Discovery searched for it or whatever they were doing.

@@logandelacruz2152 I know. That's why I suggested it as another drunk shark science video thar Kris could make. Plus, before I saw that documentary, I never heard about old Hitler.

Or a Skol super, Kestrel super, Tennents Super, K cider, White Ace and any other questionable high strength lager or cider that I normally see alcoholics drinking on a park bench at 9am. Poor sods. I feel sorry for them, they've got an illness and need help. It would be funny seeing someone drink it who normally drinks 4-5% strength lager!!

Firstly, I absolutely LOVE your videos -- ALL of them! Secondly, as a New Orleans, Louisiana, native, I've heard a lot of myths, but this is a first for this one. I'm not an "outdoorsy" person, but I've gone fishing a few times in my 6+ decades of life. I've caught the usual crap that's found in Lake Pontchartrain (pronounced PON-cha-train; yeah, the first "R" is silent). By the "usual" I mean tires, rusted old crab traps, and other trash. I also caught a fish or two, but it was always catch and release. I wouldn't advise eating anything out of that filthy lake. Way back in the day, a good ol' fashioned fried shark po-boy was just one of many delicious fish on the menu. Then shark-catching was banned in the '80s or '90s, I think. No more shark po-boys. That still makes me sad. The last thing I have to say is you deserve a medal for pushing through that beer. If you ever make it to SE Louisiana, try Abita Beer (Abita Amber is my fave). Also, I'd avoid Bourbon Street, esp on weekends. It's highly over-rated and very dangerous. JMHO.

"Grandma", the biggest bull shark at Bequa Passage in Fiji between Viti Levu and Bequa Island is estimated to be 12 ft long. She looks like a great white. When I dove there the largest I saw was "Crook" who is estimated to be around 10ft. These outclass the Florida bulls which I think average around 7-8 honest ft long. By the way, "Big Blue" is really around 17 ft long, not 20 ft.
