My wife bought a Shark Genius S5003A last week. Previous to that, we tried everything from a regular mop with a bucket and ringer, one of those mops that you push a button and it sprays down a liquid, and has a disposable pad, a name brand combination floor scrubber/cleaner/vacuum that put down a cleaner, scrubbed the floors, and sucked up the water, a name brand steam cleaner with a hose, tank, and accessories, and just about any type of mop you can think of to clean floors. We live in Florida, and we have porcelain tile throughout our 2250 SF house. I used the Shark Genius for the first time last week, and here's what I think: 1. It does do a good job cleaning the floors, but that's all it's going to do. It will not clean grout lines too well. 2. By the time I was done, the mop pad was really dirty, which meant the pad did what it was supposed to do. However, I went on Amazon and bought two more pads. If you only have tile, linoleum, or flooring to clean in your kitchen and bathroom, then just one dirt cling mop pad will do, but since we have such a big house, one pad was just not enough. 3. It will create steam in less than a minute. 4. Use DISTILLED WATER, not TAP WATER! In this demonstration, she mentions tap water. That is NOT what you use. 5. Make sure the unit is unplugged when you add the water. DO NOT leave it plugged in while refilling the tank. 6. Since we have tile floors throughout our house, I used the highest steam power available. We have three dogs, so I want my floors extra clean. The pads I purchased look exactly like the one that came with the unit. 7. DO NOT use bleach when washing the pads! That will break down the dirt grip technology. I let mine hang dry. I did not put it in the dryer because I was afraid it will shrink. The only thing is, there's no on/off/standby button. There's not a trigger to use to make the steam come out. Once you plug it in, you have to push one of the three steam control buttons, and it will begin heating up and producing steam. If you need to stop for a minute, you have to unplug it to turn it off. I feel that is a huge mistake by not adding a trigger!! Overall, I think it is a pretty good steam mop. My wife got hers on sale at a big box membership club.

This steam mop is amazing... I would highly recommend it. I actually brought one today and did a restaurant with it and I’m pleased with the results and the owner was also.

This thing is absolutely incredible🌼 You don't need any additional products or spray or bleach or anything like that. Just fill 'er up with water, plug it in, and watch it do its magic. The first time we mopped with it was absolutely disgusting. When we flipped over the mop head, we had no idea that our tile was so dirty, even in a new house.

Actually a workout as the pad is rather dry for most of my laminate floor through tout the house. Seems to clean nicely. JUST WISH IT WAS CORDLESS. (The cordless ones out there are circular cleaning heads that leave that pattern on the floor.)

Can the steam be used on a carpet
@dittybagmanjohn7 жыл бұрын
They don't tell you that the steam pad only works on ONE SIDE!!! When you flip it over, the pad stops steaming and the steamer nozzle sprays steam on your floor. When you use the steam blaster, no steam goes into the mophead.... NONE! HOWEVER.... All you need to do is to lift the mop and release the pad, then reverse the pad on the mop head.... then continue your cleaning There is NO switch to turn the spray steamer, or the steamer itself on or off.... The power switch happens when you plug in or unplug your mop. It is constantly putting out steam as long as it stays plugged in AND as long as there is still water in the tank!
@leeluv966 жыл бұрын
Joe Nowak, they did demonstrate the pad flip and the direct steam. You are right in saying thar they did not emphasize that the steam would not make contact with the pad on the reverse side.

I have an SE 450. It still has the 'honeycomb' style steam attachments. Personally after watching this one - I would not like this new model. I also picked up the purple nubby style cleaning pads - and I love those better than the white styles.

Not so....I have it and it works exactly like they say. On one side the steam is like evenly dispersed and on the other it is a blasting for the grout or something that is stuck. It works exactly like a steam iron...it steams all the time...and if you need a blaster well, just like my steam iron, there is a button for that.

Can you put pinesol instead of water?
@darblar335 жыл бұрын
No, I wouldn't. The instructions state only water. You truly don't need Pinesol any longer. The steam will clean so well! If you still feel a need, I would use a spray bottle of mixed up Pinesol and spray your floor before going over it with the steam mop. Try it without and see what you think. I'm on my 3rd steam mop (but it's a model SE450) I gave one to a friend, and the last one simply stopped working after about 7 years :D

Is the model 3973 the same as 3901? I'm getting frustrated with watching videos of very similar white Shark steamers! The one that came today does not mention a garment attachment or crevice tool....I used to love Shark when the 1st $20 cordless came out around year 2000 or so. But this thing w steamers is getting ridiculous, they almost all look the same.

I KNOW! And purchase one and find out it doesn't have a feature you would've loved to have! And the package deals you get from QVC are frequently exclusive to QVC.

I purchased an SE450 from walmart last year to replace my older one I'd had about 10 years. The water canister lid vacuum sealed and popped something so it wouldn't steam any longer. I love the new one! Still use the old pads. This one in the video - I wouln't enjoy it as much.

Buy it directly from SHARK/Ninja. I have four of their Shark mops and vacs. I love all of them. They are not cheap, but I just bought my new ROBOT ION and it had a little spring broken that was keeping dirt from going through to the bin....I called them and I sent it back and BINGO within 10 days...another brand new replacement. I really need this because I have had back surgery and a tumor removed from my right leg and I can't lift anything over a couple of pounds. This Robot is PERFECT and I love it. It is almost like a "Pet" cute to watch as its little brushes gather all the "anything" in it to pick it up and it has the hand vac for corners or places that the robot can't get to. I LOVE IT.
