It may be nothing to some, but I want to thank you. Our shark stopped working this week and I could not figure it out. Not wanting to spend the $$$ to replace a 2 yr old vacuum; with your video, and people remarks of stripping the 2 red wires, I am pleased to say, ours is fixed! Thank you so much.

Thanks for your video. Took me 7 minutes to get my vacuum working again. I tapped the switch a few times and a piece of sand came out and the switch starting working like normal. I put everything back together and it worked just as it should.

Have to thank you so much for this! Shark wanted $85 for the lower unit (nozzle) and I only paid $200 for the whole unit, so I was unwilling to pay almost 50% of the cost of the unit just to fix it. I am not a handy person by any means, but thanks to this video I was able to actually fix my machine. Thank you!!!!

Thank you. Guys, It is very easy. Go ahead and save the money and time, and cut the two red wires. Put a wire nut on it. I took out the white housing as well, tucked the wire nut in the void it left, and I then put electrical tape to hold it down. As Murle Campbell said, just use the switch on top when you want to turn of the brush. :) On another note, it is so good of Shark to put the belt in a separate compartment. What this avoids is all the string and hair interfering with the roll. Just wish they did the switch better, but am glad that there is a simple work-around.

Thank you so much Murle!!! You saved me, bigtime! Thank you for your help! Personally, I left the wires in place and turned the green part of the microswitch the upside down to bypass, and screwed it back in again. Works like new. You are awesome.

The video was very clear and I was able to easily determine that I had a switch problem also. Saved a lot of money versus taking it in for repair - thanks a lot!

Thank you for this video! Saved me a lot of $$$. I bypassed the switch, cut, the wires, joined them, and now activate the brush roll with the push of the top button. I lose the upright/recline activation, but that's because I didn't bother ordering a new microswitch.

I was able to fix mine tonight. My switch was stuck down. The metal lever on the switch has a small black, square piece that pushes it up and comes out of the green body. That plastic piece was stuck in the down position. I used a very small screwdriver to push it down and move it around in different directions until it popped back up out of the hole.

Just think..............when they designed that, the little side panels ......they could have made them snap in so you could remove them if needed, without disssasymbling the unit.

Thanks Murie - you solved my problem with your video. I really appreciate it. It seemed to be in the stuck position until I removed it and then it seemed to be fine. I don't have a clue as to why it happened or if it will happen again... if you have any thoughts about that I would appreciate knowing. Regardless, thanks again

same problem here, and I also took out the switch cut both red wires attached tot he switch, spliced them together wrapped with electrical tape. and my brush roll works GREAT! and yes to anyone who asked you can turn it off $& on at the top switch. Not sure why they put the switch in anyway?

Chris Parsaud we're having the same problem. Just looking for a clarification on bypassing the microswitch. If you splice the 2 red wires together, it bypasses the microswitch altogether, but you can still use the brushroll switch at the top of the machine? Just wanted to check before we cut any wires. Thanks

@lynyrddayton45196 жыл бұрын
unscrew the white assembly that houses the green switch. free the 2 red wires that are coming off the green switch from the white housing. cut the 2 red wires right below the switch. strip the ends of the 2 red wires, twist them together and wrap with a piece of electrical tape or use a small wire nut. throw away the switch and the housing, you dont need them to put the vacuum back together.
@altheamcnabb28296 жыл бұрын
that works and now my machine brush roll is working again. i dont care if its still rolling while in the upright positioin i just push the off brush button.
