Thanks! There's all kinds of videos on this problem and after watching 8 of them I'd almost convinced myself that a few hundred dollars wasn't THAT much to pay for a new vacuum, lol. Watching yours was a game changer; 10 minutes later my Shark was up and running again after simply bypassing the switch. Your instructions were clear, concise and straightforward without a bunch of extra information or opinions that 99% of viewers will never utilize. For the majority of viewers who will never utilize, for example, soldering extraneous information can result in making this fix more complicated than necessary and seemingly overwhelming. Really appreciated your approach and delivery.

Thanks! The most valuable lesson- "The unit will NOT run the brush motor when it is upright..." I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!!! after cleaning the brush roll (it was filthy-and I had to free up the bearing too!) I re-installed it and it didn't work! So I looked at your video to see what I missed and you aid "the microswitch prevents it from running in the upright position.. DUH!!!!!

Thank you for making this video. At the start, my Shark NV500, the brush stop working, the brush indicator turned orange from green. I tried disassembling to check the brush to see if there is problem with the belt but I could not disassemble after removing several screws. I quit for a while and surf the web and found your youtube video. You mentioned the hidden screws under the two small roller wheels. I got it done and completed disassembly. Before I check the circuit or pull the micro switch, I tried touching the micro switch and noticed it moved and seemed normal. I re-assembled by installing 3 screws only and tested it. It works. I continued assembling the vacuum cleaner and happy that I found the information I needed from your Video. Thanks a lot..

Good video, except you did not show where the multi-meter leads connect to on the vacuum. Anyway, I have a UV560 31 in which the brush roll itself is the problem. The part of the brush roll (on the belt side, right next to the belt gear) that "rests" between the soleplate and the clear plastic wind tunnel shroud keeps getting scraped away by the soleplate and/or the wind tunnel shroud, and then makes a shrieking noise before getting stuck. I have even sanded down the rough edges on the brush roll, used a spare wind tunnel shroud with 2 good black "semi-O-ring" gaskets (the one on the belt side of the original was too loose fitting). But the brush roll still keeps getting scraped and then getting jammed. I don't wish to replace any of the parts. Is there something else I can do?
@richardsvacuumcenter Жыл бұрын
If your motor is turning without the belt attached and not shutting off it sounds to me like you need to replace your brushroll.
@nonelost1 Жыл бұрын
@@richardsvacuumcenter Thank-you for your reply. I forgot to mention (see above) that I even tried using another identical brush roll, but the same problem manifests. Nevertheless, I tried your idea and the brush motor does not automatically shut off with the GATES 231-3GT-6 belt disconnected. Therefore either I have two bad brush rolls (neither are loose when mounted), possibly belt too tight or too loose (but seriously doubt this), or two bad wind tunnel shrouds, or a bad sole plate, causing this scraping and shrieking of the brush roll (and also of the wind tunnel shroud). Possibly the wind tunnel shroud was overly tightened to the sole plate. BTW, I mention the belt brand and size in case you think that might be the problem. I also mention all this as I cannot find any KZbin videos that address this exact problem. Thank-you for any help you can offer in advance.

Or the board is bad. You can test voltage at the motor wires to see if you get voltage from the board. If not your board is probably bad.

The red power light is on the head and comes on and off when pressing the roller power button. Following your videos, I cut the micro switch out first. Same issue. I tried using a multi meter to test the main roller power switch but not getting the same readings you did. Not sure if I don't know how to use it or if the switch itself is bad. Your thoughts?
