We review the Shark Vertex Cordless IZ462H. Tests are performed on carpet, hard floors, and hair. Comparisons are made to a host of other cordless vacuums. See the Vertex Cordless at Shark: sharkclean.sjv... or on Amazon: amzn.to/38juOpy
See the written Vertex Cordless Review: vacuum-cleaner...
In this review we discuss the different models of the Shark Vertex Cordless vacuum cleaner and we walk through everything you get with your Shark Vertex model IZ462H - the one with the swappable battery.
We show the three tools and discuss each one: crevice tool, pet multi-tool and anti-allergen brush. We like that the tools click securely into place and will not fall off.
We show how the swappable (easily removable) battery works and how it can be charged both on and off the vacuum. In addition, we show the 3 charging lights on the side of the battery and discuss how they are useful. We also walk through all the vacuum controls, from carpet mode to bare floor mode, and the two power settings: standard and boost.
We performed run time tests in stick vacuum mode and we show two tables. The first table provides the manufacturers run times and the second table shows our tested run times. We walk through all the figures. We also highlight that you can always buy a second battery and double your run times (if you have the Vertex with the swappable battery). However it is lamentable that even if you buy the Vertex with the swappable battery you will only be provided one. If you want a second battery you will have to buy it.
The cleaner head on this unit has 2 brushrolls. One is soft and the other has fins and bristles. The soft brushroll can be removed completely for easy cleaning and a panel underneath the cleaner head can be removed to help clean the other brushroll and to deal with any potential clog.
We show 9 cordless vacuums and discuss the Vertex cordless weight as compared to these other machines. The Vertex was the heaviest of the bunch. However, despite the weight of the overall vacuum the handheld unit is a reasonable weight and is easy to wield.
The vacuum will not stand on its own but it can be leaned against a wall for storage purposes. However the MultiFLEX wand will double over 180 degrees which provides a configuration that allows the vacuum to stand on its own. In addition, the MultiFLEX wand, when bent 90 degrees, allows you to get under low furniture without having to stoop too much. We show all of these configurations.
Movement is reasonable. Not stellar but not too bad. It moves better on hard flooring than it does on carpet. The two brushrolls do pull the vacuum forward a bit which also results in a little more work on the pullback. But overall its not a big issue.
The dust canister is a bit on the small side and if you are doing large area cleaning you may find that you have to empty it often. It's fine for smaller area cleaning though.
The unit has 3 filters - 2 pre-motor filter and 1 post-motor filter. The post-motor filter is a HEPA filter. The unit also has a sealed system.
We performed a noise level test on the Vertex cordless and several other cordless vacuums. We show and discuss the noise level tests in a table. We also highlight the difference in noise level on the carpet and the bare floor.
We then undertook a host of cleaning tests. We created and placed debris on our low pile carpet and our tile floor and found that the Vertex did a great job. We compared pickup to our Dyson V10 Absolute.
The unit also performed well in our large debris test on carpet. In addition, we compared hair tangle on the Vertex brushroll to that of the Dyson V7. The Vertex brushroll is designed to limit hair tangle and it works. It isn't perfect but it does move most of the hair to the dust canister.
In a final test we ran the Vertex along our baseboards to see how close to an edge it would pickup. In this test the unit did not perform particularly well. It left about an inch long strip of unvacuumed area along the baseboards.
At the end of the video we provide a quick summary of what we have covered.

As a stay at home dad and a stay at home husband, the duties of keeping our home clean falls to me every single day. After about six years of heavy use, our shark ion rocket finally gave out on us. After looking around for a couple days, I saw this gem of a vacuum cleaner and I went ahead and made the purchase. After two days I can honestly say that this is the best vacuum I have ever used. I love the fact that it has a true HEPA filter, I love the suction power, I love not having to unwrap hair from the roller (having 2 females, 3 cats and 1 golden retriever who all shed like crazy). I love every single thing about this vacuum and it is completely worth every single penny. Also wanted to say that your review helped me seal the deal. I just can’t figure out how to remove the battery just yet.

Wow! this is one of the best vacuum review I have seen. Covered different aspects & compare among similar vacuums. Also cover things that other doesn't, such as the noise level test, battery charging lights, mfg run time vs actual time, and how it cleans against the edge of the baseboard. Very informative, detail and complete. Such a great review

Thank you to you and Vacuum Wars for your excellent coverage of this vacuum. I'd been struggling with long hair tangle with my previous vacuum and from your reviews, I decided on a Vertex Cordless. It checks all the boxes and (in my experience) never tangles, even where my old Dyson would bog down. 24m24s is an all-too-familiar sight to see for me I like the section about cleaning the brush rolls, cordless comparison, and the call out for having no plastic in the packaging.

Found this vacuum at a pawn shop and picked it up for my kitty play room with carpet. It worked well enough but then I watched this incredibly informative video. I took the bottom rollers apart and cleaned it all out to new looking. You would not believe the stuff caught up in the soft roller and those little teeth!! Now she works like new. Going to look into a second battery as the one I have is the removable battery vacuum. This puppy is cleaning the house and my cordless Hoover moves to the kitty room. Thank you for a great video.

This appears to be my only option & while I did find enough reliable info to feel pretty good with my choice, your review really answered all my questions that nobody else really covered. Thanks again so much...btw the noise test was extremly helpful as my husband works nights, sleeps days so it mattered to me! Thanks.

I bought a shark vacuum cleaner a few years ago. I'm in Australia. It worked well, until a rubber band that turned the power head failed. I found a replacement online for very little money. However when I came to putting my country into the field, I was told the part was not available in Australia! I had to buy the entire head.... over $100. Needless to say, I didn't buy the head and the cleaner was sent to the dump. Before buying always make sure p arts are available in your country. In Australia everything costs more..

I have the swappable battery one. Had it for about 2 years. I love it. It doesn't get litter up on my hardwood floor in one pass. So I tend to have to go back over those areas, but still glad with my purchase. I purchased a 3rd party extra battery. Only lasts about 25minutes compared to the OEM's 40. Still, not bad and it was $35 cheaper than buying from shark.

I bought mine as soon as it was available and have had it for over 5 months now. My main takeaways are that it’s the best cordless I have ever tested for pet hair and hair tangles thanks to the duo clean and powerfins. It is underpowered however and significantly less powerful that my favorite shark cordless, the Ion P50. Like most bagless vacs, the filtration is not good, but it’s especially subpar on this unit. I would never personally recommend a bagless vac over a bagged unit, but if you have to have bagless and cordless, this is a great option if you have lots of pet fur. If you don’t have pets to cleanup after, the Ion P50 and other higher end cordless options that I have owned beat this hands down. Great in-depth video on this machine as always!!

Nick, what do you mean by the filtration is subpar? He (and Shark) claim it is a sealed system. Are you saying it leaks, or are you saying it clogs easily? I am looking to get a new vac but have concerns with lead dust and really want a good filtration system. (Not lead abatement clean-up, just general vacuuming in a house with lead trim).

Love that you made this video! I bought this exact vaccum in December from Kohl's. I had researched many stick vacuums. I chose this because of the lights it has, and the fact that one brush head cleans both floors and rugs. Lights are super important to have on a vacuum. And swapping cleaning heads for floor and rugs can be difficult. I had bought the LG and while I found the overall suction and noise was better on the LG, the changing of both heads and no lights was a negative. I returned my LG. Also unlike the Dyson's, the Shark doesn't need my finger pressed to operate the vacuum. I think it's impossible to vacuum with your finger pressed on the power button. Overall I'm very happy with the Shark Vertex. I may buy another battery but so far so good. Everything you noticed and mentioned is absolutely accurate!! I noticed the edge cleaning wasn't great either. But it's fantastic on hard floors. Thank you for your comprehensive and excellent review. If I hadn't bought this in December I would've chosen this again after watching your review. Thank you! 😊

@@ramd6934 The vacuum on carpet is louder than most of our other cordless units (although not all). When you put it in carpet mode the two brushrolls spin very fast and the cleaner head is a bit loud. There is a noise table in the video at about 17:45.

@@jayjayhooksch1 I have read about people getting electric shocks and I think maybe It happened One time? Other than that no I have not experienced any electric shocks. It's amazing on hard floors and good on carpets. It does the job and to be honest I've been researching and researching for many vacuums and this had all the features I wanted. I need something with a light it makes a huge difference. So many of these vacuums don't have lights. and I like that I don't have to change the heads when I want to do carpet and flooring because it is the most annoying thing. It's a little louder on carpets but not terrible. And my battery lasts long I only have one battery. I love the way it folds and stores and you can charge it so many different ways. You can take the battery out and charge it you can fold it over and charge it or detach the portion to make it a hand vacuum and charge it. It's really helpful.

I have purchased it based on your review , I owned the older model ionflex and this is unfortunately does not come near it, head sucks , you have to push and pull on carpet , older model used to move by itself, I miss that

Thank you for your methodical and helpful reviews. I have been looking for a cordless vacuum with the power of a full-size vacuum for both hard surface and carpet (whole house cleaning). I am leaning toward the Shark Vertex, especially the IZ662H model. Do you have any thoughts on how this compares to the Shark ICZ362H Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away Cordless or even the Shark IZ462H? Thanks again.

I just bought a Shark powered/corded NZ801 and noticed there was some plastic, bit disappointing tbh, there is enough rubbish in the world to last forever already, we need to push manufacturers to go full zero plastic in the future.

Thank you for your review. Have you heard of, or experienced, this vacuum building up static electricity amd shocking users while vacuuming on carpets? I believe it is infrequent, but it is concerning if true.

Did you test this vacuum on hard floor at base boards? If so, how well did it perform on hard floor vs. carpet? Considering purchase, will decide based on how effective on hard floor at baseboards. Thank you!! Really appreciate your thorough reviews, purchased corded vacuum based on your review and very satisfied, would now like to try cordless.

Hard floor test: 14 seconds was spent to go through the distance with Shark. 11 seconds spent with Dyson. Not like it would affect the ultimate outcome by a lot, but forgive me if I am wrong, going slower allows for more debris to get sucked in.

I did notice that shark and others, occasionally have products that are sold exclusively through Amazon for some reason. If you go to the manufacturers website you can't find it but if you look on Amazon it's there.

To answer your question I put down some deep pile carpet and gave it a shot. See short video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYu9c4KchpmCqJI In my opinion movement is fairly reasonable. I've tested a few other machines that can really bog down on this carpet (although others also move rather well). I also put down some fruit loops to check large debris pickup and then some smaller orange lentils. Overall I'd say it is not bad. I've seen a lot of machines struggle on this carpet and frankly the Vertex seems to do ok (even though, like many vacuums on this carpet, it takes a lot of back and forth).

@@VacuumAdvisor Thank you for the follow up video and your comment. I can see that it performs albeit the back and forth. I found the smaller orange lentil to be especially helpful and realistic in reference. Excited to purchase the Shark vertex cordless, thanks!

Is the top part the motor? I have the Iz44oh & have only had it for about 6mnths. The other day it starter making a loud noise & when u hold ur hand over the suction part it gets even that much louder & hot. So I'm wondering if it's the motor?? I've been searching the interwebs high & low & can not find any info, tips, NOTHING! I purchased it at Walmart with a 3yr warranty that Walmart provides. I don't kno what to do🤯!! HELP PLZZZ, ANYONE😟 Thanks in advance! Nice video

I have been looking for a cordless for days and narrowed down to a vertex but cant decide on the one that carrys the weight at the bottom or this one. I like the sleekness of this better but I like the attachments on the other one. How would I be able to vacum up against baseboards with this? My old corded bissel I always used the attachment that was very easy to access mounted on the vacum just stand it upright then reach down and grab it and there is always pieces of dog food or something I need to get. Can I do that with this one or will i have to get the bulkier one? What I love about these sharks is the dust roller. I have shiny wood floors that I hope it may get off smuges and footprint that show. Do you think I am being over optimistic or can that dust roller do that? also I like I can pick up large pieces like dog food! I also like that I can at least fold it to stand upright. I would love to find one that has a dust rolller that stands completely upright! do you know of one?
