That story about the “pig zucchini” is very interesting to me, in UK kale was seen as a feed for cows, animals, and humans wanting a cheap vegetable instead of cabbage when I was a child in the 80’s. Now it’s seen as a hipster health food, and is priced up accordingly! Greg’s face eating that jelly blob was hilarious, he is so expressive and looked totally confused by it 😹

Having Yoojin with you made me think that it would be great to have like a market guide person. If the market paid them they could help non-koreans with questions and buying things and all the shops would make more money! Because I'd spend heaps more if I could ask what things were etc. 😀

Great video! One of the best things about Seoul is the neighborhood markets. It's not something we really have back home in Canada or the US. They're a great place to practice your Korean and get to know your neighbors. (And you'll be happy to know that Orange Julius is still in business, at least in Vancouver :)

I first had that jelly at a Buddhist temple food restaurant in Insadong called Sanchon. Normally I have issues with squishy food textures, but I loved that stuff! I think it's called 묵 in Korean, it's like an umbrella term for any starch turned into jelly.

I was just talking about Orange Julius with my husband. There hasn't been one in my area of Upstate New York since the late 80's early 90's. They were so good. I believe they went out of business. They were just ahead of their time. I think everyone is going out for juices and making it a staple of their diet.

Anyway interesting videos, I'm drooling at the chicken and fried things

really enjoyed watching this! I like markets and buying local veggies but I rarely go to those in my city cause you can get scammed easily, some people give you less weight than you're paying for. it's common to tweak scales, when I was little they used balance scales with metal counterweights and used to drill holes inside them so you would pay for heavier veggies and get less. When buying strawberries or other type of berry you should often handpick all you want to buy 'cause ready to buy containers they have usually have rotten berries underneath or have less weight too. Plus I hate haggling and you can get your wallet stolen in markets easily in Odessa haha city famous for its thieves :D That's like an art of buying good veggies here and I can't be bothered and just go to grocery stores :D Glad markets near you are not like that at all.
