If you never saw Miss Sharon sing before, close your eyes. You will think you are listening to the voice of a super solid young woman in her late 20's. A lot of singers start to lose their range, and vocals with age. Not Miss Sharon. God rest her sweet soul. And, those Dap Kings! All of them are old souls. Shining away like stars in the night. Rest easy Miss Sharon. The wonderful music you and The Dap Kings brought us lives on forever.

I remember sitting on my couch next to listenting to this on CBC in Montreal and told myself, i would love to see this woman and the DapKings at our Jazz Festival, but no no no, after they played her song, the announcement came that she passed away the night before, i cried, oh no, she was i swear the best of this generation or many generations, what a terrible piece of news, i finally found someone who excited me to no end and it was her end of life on this earth, what a gifted, powerful gal with that voice, long live Sharon Jones, RIP you lovely giver of song! Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings made music that vibrated at the frequency of my soul. I don't know how else to explain it. Seeing them live for the first time at the Doug Fir in Portland over a decade ago was practically a life-changing experience. Sharon sang with such power and emotion, and the Dap Kings' played with such joy... I couldn't stop myself from bouncing up and down and grinning from ear to ear. I still have those feelings when I listen to their music today. I had hoped I might see them in concert again someday. Although I had read that Sharon was sick, I didn't know that it had progressed so far. Despite being ill, she continued singing and performing. In front of a mic and a crowd, this woman was an unstoppable force of nature. Just last month I was happily surprised to see the band pop up in the final episode of Luke Cage, sounding as good as ever. But now Sharon Jones is gone. There will be no more concerts. There will be no more new songs. I will never have the chance to thank Sharon personally, or to tell her how much her music meant to me, so I will have to say it here instead: Thank you, Sharon. The gift of your music made the world a happier place, something that should never be taken for granted, especially in times like these. Rest in peace. You will be missed.

I only learned about her passing after I heard her for the first time. Better late than never. What a band... what a front singer. I am astounded... I've been playing Blues for 45 years. This has given me a different look at the dynamics, teamwork. Yet, each player, as an individual, in this band, is outstanding. Sharing this for sure. Great video work, & sound. I watched this whole video, got up and danced, grooved. If Sharon doesn't move you, you have no soul.

Sharon Jones is a cancer survivor who has recently relapsed and is sick again. There's a documentary about her life now called Miss Sharon Jones! I really want to see it, it's at the Mayan Theater here in Denver. I got to see her with my buddy Mike when he and I got to go to New York City to see Jimmy Kimmel Live in person. Sharon Jones and her group, The dap-kings were the musical act for the show. I've been hooked on her ever since 2012 when we got to go. There's a great soundtrack to the movie about her life. It's also called Miss Sharon Jones! Original motion picture soundtrack. I just got it tonight, it's great. I recommend it highly. They rock, and she is AMAZING and fuckin' FIERCE!!
