@susanoldcorn455911 ай бұрын
@@ukmedicfrcstype 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are completely different. Type 1 a person has from birth and they do not produce insulin at all, so the only medication that they can take is insulin. Other than insulin the other diabetic medications do not work for type 1 diabetes, I don’t know why type 1 was even mentioned in the comment above because Ozempic is not insulin. Y’all need to get your facts straight. Also I can tell you that there have been many medications for all different types of diseases that people actually need have been on the shortage list, I know this from personal experiences. I am also a Type 2 diabetic and have been working very hard trying to reverse it. I have been on oral medication for quite awhile (years) and changed my eating habits and still couldn’t lose the weight or get my A1C down to a non- diabetic level, so my physician (who also monitors me and my blood levels every 3 months put me on Ozempic and it has been life changing for me as first and most importantly my A1C is down to pre- diabetic levels and I am finally losing the weight that I need to lose to not be considered obese, as my goal is to lose the weight and to live a healthier lifestyle so I can get off of most if not all of my medications. Especially since I also have a heart murmur that has become more pronounced over the past couple of years. So my point is no Ozempic is not a cure all, as you have to change your diet and lifestyle, it is also not something that everyone should be taking just because they want to lose weight as there should be at least other health factors, and those who are not being monitored closely by a physician definitely should not be given or taking any kind of prescription medication.

Although I realize WW would (hopefully) only suggest this drug for the small majority of it's members, just the fact that they are rubs me wrong. I remember where there was a time when it took changing your lifestyle for the better to make the changes you'd like. Apparently now they and too many doctors are in partnership with drug manufactures. In my perfect world there would be no drug commercials on TV or radio. You will lose more fat by building muscles through exercises on the floor or with weights (once you can do those with just your body weight comfortably). Don't go for cardio for weight loss. That's only good to exercise your heart. For weight loss, strength training.
@XOChristianaNicole10 ай бұрын
Don’t focus on cardio. Not being able to run shouldn’t be an issue. Focus on weight-training and muscle building. I’d highly recommend looking into calisthenics. You don’t need external weights or do go to a gym. It’s all based on using your own body weight, to build muscle. And I am not talking about becoming big and bulky. Though, cardio will deplete muscle - and muscle is the absolute key to longevity and health; and the more muscle one has, the better their metabolic system is. Especially, when it comes to fatty liver. Also, don’t focus on “weight-loss.” Focus on “fat-loss.” Because weight-loss can indicate a loss in fat - or muscle. And the absolute last thing anyone wants (unless they are a body builder and in their cutting season ) - is to lose muscle. The more muscle One gains - the more calories their body will burn, in the process of doing so. Also, be careful with cardio and intermittent fasting., in combination. Both of such, cause a release in cortisol - which, also, drops progesterone. It’s not that all stress is bad, for the body. Though, you don’t wanna over do it, ‘cause this will deplete more muscle. And as I stated - muscle health is the key to longevity and proper metabolic function.

I take ozempic at a very low dose 1.5 mg for type 2 diabetes and have taken it for a year. In that year I've lost 30 lb very reasonable . I have a friend who wanted it for weight loss and went to basically a spa and got the prescription from a nurse practitioner. And her prescription was for 12 mg. That's crazy . That's probably why these people are having horrible side effects because their doses are ridiculously high because they want to shed the weight quickly. What they don't realize is as soon as they stop taking it they will regain at minimum 2/3 of what they lost

I looked a good 20 years older. For the one and only time in my life I actually worked at gaining weight. If you are a woman over 50 you should not be below 22 percent body fat. Even at the dosage of 0.50 mg, once weekly, I still had all the below mentioned side effects: constant nausea, constipation, total lethargy (no energy), day and night severe acid reflux, waking from sleep at 2:00am to convulsively vomit for 1\2 hour, even vomiting during the daytime, then the accompanying low blood pressure from vomiting. My suffering was phenomenal and after 22 injections (5 1/2 months), I wanted my quality of life back. My MD agreed that it was not worth “being miserable”. Within 3 days of stopping Ozempic, my immuno-system was so depressed, I was diagnosed with Shingles although I was fully vaccinated with the Shringrix vaccine. Beware of this medicines’ consequences.

Look up "gastroparesis", and understand that a large part of how this drug works is by mimicking that condition. it also triggers your pancreas to release more insulin, which helps clear glucose out of the blood stream, which is why it's used for diabetes. However that process has problems too. It can lead to acute pancreatitis, and worsens the problem of insulin resistance.

If they are the same drug why not just manufacture more ozempic and be done with it. Having a second drug exactly the same but advocated just for weight loss is a scam as it costs four times more, just because it's for weight loss. And if diabetics can't get hold of ozempic due to shortages, why can't they just get wegovy instead. This all seems to be more about money than health.

If someone has physical issues and literally can't exercise then it's almost impossible to lose any decent amount of weight. You'll hit a plateau you can't get past unless you add exercising, which you can't do. I know several people like this. One has a blown out knee and badly damaged hip from an accident and the other has a severe lower back injury. Neither will be getting better and can barely manage to walk at all. Both have gained a lot of weight since their injuries so this drug would be their only way of getting that weight off, which will help them manage with their injuries. So for some people who need to lose weight this drug would be a godsend.

I’m in no way promoting poor eating and obesity , but I’m fearful that unhealthy things are coming back. It would be nice if true heath and natural size was embraced. I say this as a 65 year old woman that has semi starved herself her whole adult life and have had a very difficult time accepting the ten pounds I’ve gained in the last five years. I have a 3rd major surgery on my gut scheduled for next week. I'll be hospitalized for approximately 1 week more. I saved the unused meds, paperwork & astronomical hospital bills. I used to skip breakfast. I still like reach for chips when Im stressed and hungry but I find that I can now have half a single serve bag and put away in the fridge and not think about it for a few days. I used to eat a whole 170g sharing bag with dinner each night! I have noticed my clothes are ever so slightly less tight, but the number on the scale hasnt moved, neither is my waist measurement. I used to eat sandwiches for dinner, but now I can have a standard bun, a slice of cheese, 2 extra lean beef patties and an apple and move on to something else to do. Not a small meal by any measures, but a tremendous cut back compared to my usual. No side effects, but I have broken down in tears twice in the last week. I'm not sure if it is the drug or my situation.
