You might be missing the concept of the movie. It was a spoof on spy-thriller films which were pretty common around the time, most notably James Bond but so many others. Sharon legitimately trained martial arts with Bruce Lee for the film and was capable of doing very effective kicks and punches, but the fight was supposed to be more funny and less realistic…and it was. She’s portraying a clumsy/ditzy agent and I honestly don’t think she could’ve done a better job. She puts on a masterclass in the film, if you watch Sharon the entire movie you’ll see the so many subtle things she does that puts her character together in such a way…she was so consistent and just a total natural. I would recommend watching the film and seeing what I’m talking about, primarily focusing on Sharon throughout.

The death penalty was restored under Ronald Reagan but has been placed on hold in California and other states again because of Brown and his like-minded supporters. Always remember that these people, most of them Democrats, place their politics above the need for justice and compassion for the victims and their families. George

Sharon Tate was absolutely hilarious in this. It is so funny. She really nailed it. The clumsy way she walks away to leave after first beating up Nancy. Then the look she gives Nancy after Nancy blocks her exit not once but twice. The first time, you see Sharon give a look like, "Fine, I'll go this way." Nancy isn't letting her go that way either. Then Sharon looks at her exit being blocked again and looks at Nancy like, "Ok. Now I have to kick your ass." And she does. Then when she gets kick thrown over Nancy, the clumsy way she gets up...throw in Sharon trying to disarm the booby traps and open the doors but instead accidentally blowing everything to shit and almost killing her partner multiple times before accidentally karate chopping the shit out of him...I mean, what a clumsy, beautiful disaster! I would totally bring her along on every mission and something tells me we'd make it out everytime after she accidentally killed everyone but me.

Ever since I saw this movie as a kid, I fell in love with Nancy Kwan and her character, so I was pissed off when they killed her off after the fight. But then I found that ironically, Nancy ended up outsurviving Dean Martin, Sharon Tate, and even Bruce Lee in real life, despite being the only character that died in this scene. So now I have mixed feelings when watching this movie, since it makes me appreciate and be thankful that Dean Martin and Nancy Kwan lived long lives, but at the same time it makes me sad that Bruce Lee and Sharon Tate died so young compared to them.
@chrisbach1533 Жыл бұрын
Yes that was indeed somehow very "brutal". Yurang/Yu-rang (Nancy) was actually killed by her own boss Count Contini (Nigel Green), when he blew up the house. Matt Helm (Dean Martin) would never have put the unconscious Yurang on that bed if he knew Contini was such a cold blooded swine. He blew up and killed Yurang because he felt she failed after losing to Freya (Sharon).

This is the movie that corrupted me! I was 12 1/2 years old in 1969, already getting my first signs of puberty! I had seen female fights in movies and TV before, but this was the first time I had ever seen women who, at least looked like they knew what they were doing! I couldn't get this out of my head! In my fantasies they were also stripping each other naked, getting turned on, and ending up in lesbian sex. Over the next few years I was introduced to Emma Peel, Italian Amazon films, and the Hong Kong Kung Fu girls like Angela Mao! My fantasies continued to run wild. It was always girl on girl, never women dominating Men as I'm not Sub in any way. My fantasy is Girl on Girl fighting, preferably nude, preferably starting out with Martial Arts, the women getting turned on, then I come in as Super Hero, Spy, or Commando and enjoy both women. But this is what started that obsession!
@chrisbach15332 жыл бұрын
Dont feel ashamed by such thoughts. Of course i am not a movie historian, but i cant remember any movie pre 1968 in western cinema which shows a female fight like this one. You can say easy this was actually the first catfight ever in western cinema history. Only in places like Hong Kong were already many great female fight scenes before '68, but not in the west. So with all other great things Sharon Tate left behind here in this world, she and Nancy Kwan did arguably the first real catfight in western movie history here.

Manson was pissed at the former tenant of the same house who rejected him on a music deal. Manson wrote songs. He knew the guy didn't live there anymore but told Tex and the rest to just kill everybody in the house. It happened to be Sharon and her friends.

@@lazarus1672 I believe it was the son of Doris Day, who’s name was Terry Melcher. He was close to The Beach Boys and it may have been Brian Wilson who also had met Manson. Manson auditioned for Melcher, kind of…Manson thought he was good enough and met Melcher and played guitar and sang for him, and Melcher wasn’t impressed. This upset Manson, and Melcher moved later…and Tate and her producer husband, Roman Polanski bought the house. I believe Manson didn’t know Melcher had moved and the rest is a horrible fate for them all. The comment above may be the truth that he knew he had moved, but look it up on Wikipedia.

Years ago Nancy Kwan did commercial for this beauty product called Pearl Cream. No innuendo there😉 All I remember about it was that she could not pronounce her r’s.

@Uploader i dont want to be a smarta..., but a more correct description for this scene would be something like: The Wrecking Crew | Catfight | Freya Carlson (Sharon Tate) vs Yurang Wen (Nancy Kwan)

Everyone should she all of Sharon Tates movies.......she was very beautiful but establishing herself as an Actress. It was stated Dean Martin wanted to use her again in his next Matt Helm movie but after her murder was so devastated, he stop making them. Sharon Tate was more famous then people give her credit for. The IT Girl in her day and a Hollywood Jet Set Celebrity with many famous Hollywood friends from London to Los Angeles. I believe that’s why everyone is so fascinated with her beauty as well as her senseless murder

I thought that about Nancy too, although they are both amazing in it, you can see the dancer in the graceful way Nancy positions her hands and feet. She also has some of the most beautiful legs I've ever seen. It was interesting to see how small and petite Nancy was in this scene. Sharon was very small, only 5'3", but Nancy looks even a little smaller than her. Watching all the graceful dancing she did in Flower Drum Song, her legs looked long and I pictured her to be taller. She looks like a little doll in this.
