Great review once again Noel and the Surf n Show team!! Thought i write a little bit about my experience with the Storms. Im 31 years old, 5'6" (167cm) weighting 60kg or less, very surf fit, surfing everyday sometimes 2 times a day (if theres waves). Living on the East Coast of Australia, surfing mostly 1-5ft PUNCHY sand bottom beach breaks and the occasional session at the point breaks around. I surf very fast beachies such as Duranbah, where you need to be very fast on your legs and quickly do 1-3 turns or just pull into the barrel, as well as the points such as Snapper Rocks, Greenmount and Kirra. Ok, i said all that at the top because it ties in with a lot about this board design and the fins i ride, DEPENDING ON SURF SPOT (WAVE) I have a custom made Storms @ 5'7" 18 5/8 - 2 1/4 - 24L (these values are approximate since me and the shaper worked on very small increments and fine tuned a fair few things on that board) To summarise a lot, this boards is fucking magical! BUT you need to have the appropriate fins for the occasion (WAVE), just like what Noel did in his video. I ride the H4 mediums all the time with this board, the reason being because i mostly surf Duranbah and very fast punchy beach breaks, where you need to be quick on your feed, make sections and hit that pocket quickly as the wave is usually not so perfect as a point break. The H4's allows for a very quick pivot transition and its AMAZING in hollow waves but it seems to loose drive through long turns when surfing more of an open face wave. I also have the Felipe Toledo Medium and my experience is that those fins are great when you have that longer ride, open face point breack for carving and longer rail game area as Trestles provides in the video, the FT fins always felt a little too dragging and slow turning when you are faced with a quick beach break type of wave but as soon as you have more power and wave face they shine big time leaving the H4 behind in that aspect. All and all, this board is amazing and i definitely recommend it to everyone who's an intermediate surfer who's keen to improve their surfing level big time and at not so fortunate to have perfect waves at all time since this board will allow you to surf even the shittiest conditions. Thanks Noel once again for the sick video!

I'm 6'6 175lb and currently riding a 6'6 x 21 x 2.5 hybrid fish epoxy board and am wanting something more performance oriented as a daily driver. I'm able to pump down the line, do cutbacks, etc. Looking at a 6'4 lost quiver killer libtech, a 6'4 hydroshort, or a neck beard 2.0 all around 40 liters. A fair warning on this board because I’ve seen some other reviews on other sites claiming it’s good for 1-6ft surf: I live in San Diego and picked this board up as a daily. Three months in -it definitely excels on punchy waves 3-6 ft . However… it absolutely hates any mushy smallish surf, and has a hard time getting through soft spots at times. Not a groveler under any circumstances. Do not take this to a mushy beach break ever because you will be miserable trying to grind a turn without speed because it seriously flags without a wall to drive a rail into. However, when there is punchy surf this board shines. I’m riding the KA fins and they seem to work really well. I’m getting seriously tight turns and it’s very responsive. Ridden it at shoulder high rocky point, six foot ocean side pier, head high crystal pier, head high uppers and it was simply lovely underfoot. It pivots like a dream on top turns. The main disappointment for me is how poorly it feels on any softer wave, which means I’m considering another board to take out on average stomach-chest high days. I was hoping that it would be ok in softer stuff but even when I bought it I thought it might have this issue because of foam placement. I haven’t experienced this before on other boards which does bother me a bit because now I’m going to have to get another board to compensate.

Wait, so are you saying wide point pushed forward from center is actually better for back footed surfers?or worse? as I surf a lot of Le my back foot (probably to much) and have been trying to surf boards with the wide point back from center. Have I been getting this wrong?
@surfnshowreviews7777
@surfnshowreviews7777 3 жыл бұрын
Wide point back from center promotes quicker pivot. Wide forward from center promotes carving. A front footed surfer might struggle a bit more on Wide point front from center if the nose is wide... due to it catching. Back footed surfers can navigate both wide points better due to driving the board off the tail. If you want work on big carves and more drive through turns then surf a board with its wide point front of center and use a Raked fin.
@chadsugden411
@chadsugden411 3 жыл бұрын
Surf n Show Reviews Thanks for the info. I’ve always tried to stay away from boards with wide points pushed forward from center, unless they are a squashed down grovler. Because I surf a lot off my back foot I my thought process was that I might struggle to get my weight forward and I was wanting the bulk board to feel like it was between my feet. Not under my front foot. Or forward of front foot.
@xabierxabi2199

How do you know if you are a back footer, neutral or frotfooter? Jordy Smith is a neutral, back... Or what for example?
@surfnshowreviews7777
@surfnshowreviews7777 3 жыл бұрын
Xabier xabi I would say Adriano De Souza is a front footed surfer. A good way to tell is get on a Carver Surf Skate and when you do a turn if they back wheels slide a bit then your more of a front footed surfer.
@paulaa1175
@paulaa1175 3 жыл бұрын
When you are going down the line on a wave, feel where your weight is more: if it's more over the front foot ... or neutral, or you like to stand back just a bit - more stability coming from the back foot. Then think of how you get turns going ... pushing with your toes or heel on the back foot strongly, or more leaning slightly forward over the rail and the rear of the board 'drags' around after you (then you lead with the front foot.

Storms vs phantom?
@surfnshowreviews7777
@surfnshowreviews7777 3 жыл бұрын
Storms offer more high performance surfing in the pocket. The Phantom paddles better, more glide, easier to surf, bigger sweet spot under your front foot, and carves better.

What’s this board like compared to the shadow by pyzel. Great review as always
@surfnshowreviews7777
@surfnshowreviews7777 3 жыл бұрын
Shadow has more rocker... it’s a legitimate HPSB. The Storms is more like a Daily Driver... if I had to choose one for 2-6’ surf I would go Storms for So Csl surfing. Now if I lived in HI, or surfed heavy beachies then I would go Shadow.
