I joined a muzzleoading group and learned to shoot flintlock rifles, having never fired a gun before, after watching this show and read the books. Ended up buying 2 flintlocks, before getting Sharpe's gun. I paid to have a flat lock carbine bore Baker Rifle made for me. It's my main gun now.

My paternal grand-mother was born in England in 1879 and lived until 1977. She died when I was 13. It's quite possible that she was alive and may have encountered an aging veteran of the Napoleonic Wars in his mid-/late-80's when she was a little girl, and perhaps even older vets, some who died in their early hundreds.

Not gonna lie, the way the flag bearers kept dying was hilarious. And how they just didn't pick it up in the end despite how absolutely important a flag was to a unit (as anyone who's watched Sharpe knows) really drives the point in.

Lol true, but now my history nerd side is going to show, the baker rifles and brown bess muskets used by the British army were of a larger caliber than the French Charleville muskets, so theoretically they could have used their ammunition, but also it would have drastically lowered their chances of actually hitting any of the enemy, but yes great soldiering for a tv series 😂

A great note to make is when the French at 16:56 turn back theyre stopped not just by other soldiers but the grenadiers. This was for anyone who watches Sharp prolly knows one of the strengths of the Pas de Charge with Grenadiers at the back of the column of normally young/fresh soldiers at the front.

Don't mean to be that guy but, in the book version the situation is quite different (as with many of the books) but I actually think its one of those perfect adaptation where you can tell the only reason they changed it is for budget reasons, they could never afford the boat or CGI. however they got the jist of what they where going for perfectly.

butcher doctor is using the hemostats incorrectly bloody amatuer hour. The curve bit should be up with the plier teeth pointed down at the angle & direct towards the item in this case bullet trying to be removed to help limit risk to the main artery. Working towards the artery in question almost certainly makes the risk to the artery that much more likely. You don't dig to the gas line you find the gas line & work away from it not towards it. Common sense.
