Ryan and Keith are jewels. Chicago is lucky to have two great sharpeners like them.

You rock! I have spent hours learning from your videos and days watching the Jam. I am struggling with a dead cheap pare right now and I feel much better. Scruffy Pups Grooming and Sharpening. .

You gave some terrific advise at the beginning of your video. Walk away! Actually that shear was a Run Away! Thanks for helping us not waste time on a shear that will not end up being good. I go for far better than good and do not charge for adequate results regardless of the time taken. Thanks as always!

Ha! Ha! Yes, just walk away.

know this is not a popular way but one thing I know works. put the blade at 90 degree to the honing wheel. Take a pass on both blades where the shear is not even coming into contact with the stone (to much ramp) Then resharpen. No need to run thru and grind the inside forever. Thankfully I dont run into this problem often but it is like when a big chunk has been removed. Just easier to take it down past the bad part of the blade. Yes I got this from Jim O at one of the conventions. This shear is near its useful life due to the sharpening damage so no need to spend time trying to grind down to where the ramp is gone. A bit on inside and outside of the blade. There are ways to deal with the back edge and that is fairly simple though again not very common. This is one of the few times I recommend the TAS to be used it can be used to reduce the backspine of the shear. One can also do this on the flat hone where one can almost put the blade flat against the hone but move it a few degree where the front edge of the blade is not in contact with the honing wheel. There are always methods to do things that might keep a shear in service for a bit longer. Like bending on shears always talk to the groomer or stylist before doing this as it may or may not work as intended POP well there went that blade or handle

hey Bonika. should we strop shear blades on leather strap like the ones we use on kitchen knifes or the ones we use on straight razors? would that prolong the sharpness of blades?
@BonikaShears3 жыл бұрын
Leather strops are a good idea. You can also use a nail buffer.
