Great video... thank you! I watched it this morning, immediately ordered a Fire 8, received it around noon, and was able to get it up and running and configured in about 15 minutes thanks to your video! I've only ever had iPads, so I'm a bit frustrated by the general performance and lagginess, as well as general Android weirdness. Definitely not as polished and smooth as iPadOS, but hey... you get what you pay for. For my purposes, which is just running my dashboards in kiosk mode, this will do the trick nicely.

iOS devices are definitely much better and faster but like you said the cost is much greater as well. That is why I use fire tablets because the performance is very decent for what we are doing here and they are inexpensive.

I prefer this over fully kiosk browser! Fully kiosk gave me such a headache and kept saying can't display page all the time. This one worked first try

Haha. You can either get the app from the Google play store or the Amazon App Store. So either one will work for you.

I don’t think wall panel is available in the Amazon App Store any longer, but you should be able to find an APK file to install it. Not exactly sure how it would work with Google Home though.

The device shown was from SmartThings. Now with all of the changes in SmartThings, nothing is certain. My device is still working as shown in the video.

so I am going to give this a try...do I have to purchase specific brand of door sensors, light switches etc for this to work? Do they need to be IFTTT compatible? My other question is-do I have to purchase Amazon's fir HD tablet? Can I buy some other brand?

Do you want to get a smart things hub and get all devices that are compatible with smart things that way you have maximum compatibility SharpTools.

You will want to stay away from devices that say no hub required. Because essentially what you want is all of your devices to be able to work together. That is what a hub does it brings all different brands and types of devices together so they can work as one. SmartThings is the easiest to set up and use and also is compatible with SharpTools for the Dashboards and advanced rules also.

@@SimplySmart123 ok so I just read few very confusing stuff about ST from Samsung!!! Apparently, this item is hard to find in Canada and it seems like Samsung is slowly going away from ST hardware!!! They are licensing other company like Aeotec to make the hardware!!!!

Unfortunately this app is location restricted for me. I'm in Tennessee, USA. Amazon has restricted the use of that app here. How frustrating is that? Great video though!

That is strange. You may be able to install the APK file on your device without using the App Store. Just search Google for the APK for this application.

I have Wallpanel installed with my SharpTools dashboard and for the most part it is fine, but every once in a while it goes back to the lock screen, and I have to push the power button to wake it up, then go back into Wallpanel. I double checked the settings, and everything looks right. Any idea what would cause this?

It might have been removed but you can probably install it by searching for the APK program file.

It wont even let me log in to my Home Assistant dashboard. It keeps refreshing the page while I'm logging in, so keeps removing the data. That's gonna have to be an instant uninstall for me.
