You did some crazy stuff with just this short animation! The blur so the camera can "focus", the cat purring at different volumes when it gets closer, all the usual little details that you do so well are very present here. :)

Highly recommend auto actions, they're like macros to automate stuff. ie, new layer > name layer > set opacity > clip to layer below, all in one button. very useful for animation and assigning folders to the timeline makes things a lot more convenient, even if you have one raster layer in each folder. copy pasting, merging, and some other basic stuff are pretty annoying if you just have the raster layer itself assigned to the timeline. I animate professionally, and these are the things I found the most useful starting out :) Nice video!

Recommendation/tip for you if you haven't learned this already! You could totally select your vector lines with the operation object tool and edit a few things very easily from there. You just need to go to Operation (cube cursor icon on toolbar) where you can fiddle with settings to make sure you can select all the vector lines you want (either manually or by area select if you want specific lines) and then change them with the object tool's sub-property panel. If you don't select them, any changes will be automatically applied to all the vector lines in the layer you're on. After you select the vector lines, look at the tool property and you can do stuff like adjust the main color/sub color and it will automatically apply to all the selected vector lines. You can also adjust the brush size, AND brush shape there (if you like any brushes, you can save them as a brush shape in the sub tool detail palette, and easily transform your vector lines to that brush like this.) Also, if you haven't seen the correct line tools, those are great and can allow you to do stuff like play around with line thickness while still keeping line variation, or line/control point simplification/opacity/etc. Hope this was interesting and useful!

To have a less messy set up, you can use folders as you'd use your frames and add frames within the folder, it alows you to have the lineart, colors, shadows etc on the same trame.

HOLD MY TEA- SHAR UPLOADED! Great video as always! A tip: to organize better your animation cels, you can press Ctrl + G on one of them. That will create a group of that cell and you can place new layers for coloring, light, shadow, lineart, sketch, etc. That will keep them all on the same cell! For example, instead of making new folders for sketch, then a new folder for lineart, then a new folder for painting, you can just make one folder for the animation!

All the things you liked about vector brushes and edges cleaning convinced me back in 2013, when it was just poorly translated IllustStudio, already more useful to me than photoshop and inkscape combined. Especially other layer references and magnet brushes. It was a learning curve to get used to big studio structure they added in newer updates, but it was worth it in the end.

İnstead rasterize all layer at once(bc damn making all layer rasterize and color them with lock are time consuming), you could have added a layer on top of the line art folder, clip it(mask) and fill the layer the color of your choice so the line art would have been colored.(But problem would have been timeline will look messy) Also you can clip the folders as well :0 imagine clipping folder on top the flats.
@AstraeaBrown5 күн бұрын
You can also for the animation in CSP use a "folder" as a layer. Like, each frame in one animation thing can be a folder with separate layers for lineart, coloring, etc !!! I love animating on there haha. Great video!!

Hello, I don't know if it helps you but, When you create an animation folder you can create another folder inside that one, and thus separate better, for example you create the animation, folder inside you create the lineart folder inside that the color folder and inside that the shadows and highlights folder, Then you create another animation folder for the background, I hope I explained it well (i used Google translator xd)
@pocket_sized_productions6 күн бұрын
Shar, love your work, welcome back! I also am relatively new to using CSP to animate/storyboard, so seeing your process and opinions is really wonderful! The small tip I can contribute is that sometimes with a longer .mp3 file, CSP will sometimes bug out playing it back (at least, while watching in CSP- not sure if this issue persists in the exported file). But if you do encounter this issue, I've found that converting the .mp3 to an .ogg file usually fixes it. Can't wait to see what else you'll make! 😄 Edit: typo fix!

Having trouble filling corners and small gaps? I got the tool for you. I probably can't post links on youtube so I'll say this. Look up the close and fill tool without gaps on Clip Studio Assets. It functions as a lasso tool you can freely customize. I always use it when the paint bucket isn't enough. I know some people who use it outright for coloring.

oh, my bones are rattling... law of talos and deviantart/NG flash games aaaa... This was a fun video though! It's cool seeing your fresh opinions on CSP animation as someone who spent a lot of their teen years in the program too lol. A couple small tips I've got for CSP that you might've already seen is that you can actually apply any brush shape or texture retroactively to any vector path you make if you get into the wrench settings of your Tool Property panel! And you can tick individual options to always be visible in there too. I'm actually really curious how you go about cleaning up vector paths in CSP as well, if ya see this comment! I've been using Adobe products for too much of my life, and I've actually been pretty intimidated out of using vector layers in CSP for years because of all the points a stroke can generate. Remembering to use the vector eraser and linking some lines together feels like a workflow thing I just have to learn, but I would like to know what ya thought about them as someone new to the software.

So happy to see you enjoying the cleanup tools! Ngl when I saw your process in AA I shuddered watching you erasing at the pixels-edge of every line. Excited to see you experiment more with your art with the new brushes at your disposal! Biggest CSP tip I can share is USE THE AUTO ACTION RECORDER! For the super repetitive actions you can have an auto action hit all the buttons for you, saving you a lot of travel-time. Very easy to set up: just hit the record, do everything like normal, then stop recording. Now you can just hit 'play' and it'll automatically do the recorded actions (this is especially useful in "button mode"). I personally use this for creating masks for coloring animated characters in my sequence, but you can use it for just about everything. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGa1dauGoaZ8m80si=5b_GKOU-qPNyEBcR
