It is not for the first time Tharoor has voiced his bitter feelings against British colonialism. In his writings he has always been doing so. But this speech is simply mind blowing. He has mastered the art of using his vocabulary precisely. In the parliament too he can make this speech but there will be few brains to understand.

the first proper methodical concept of GDP was brought in 1934 in USA. So where exactly is he getting data from and that too with so much accuracy. There was no way anyone could have calculated a percentage of trade and so on in those days. A lot of it is clearly exaggerated to sell his book and to highlight his points further in bold letters and even if its not exaggerated where is all the data coming from? There must have been someone who calculated indias trade and gdp etc in the 1700s, is his identity revealed in the book??how accurate were his methods of calculations. All my fellow Indians are getting swayed by his eloquent and articulate speech, I did too but iam shocked not a single indian ever double checked as of how is getting his data from. @feanaro92988 жыл бұрын
+Priyo866 hahahaha! Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, the WWW, the smallpox vaccine, immunology, and so much more. Britain has contributed more to the world than any other nation. Good effort.
@Priyo8668 жыл бұрын
Kinēsis Yeah. Now let's count those few things to Indian achievements. Plastic surgery. Transplant surgery. The concept of numbers. The belief in non-violence. The first university on earth, as well as the largest. Earliest academic-scale organized studies on grammar and language. Invention of chess. Invention of countless architectural components. Finest steel in the world. Accurate astrology 15 centuries before Europeans figured it out. Discovery of most of the planets, their distance and mass, a millenia earlier than Europeans (and it took a few more centuries for Britons). The first organized imperial road construction. The first organized postal service on earth. One of the finest medical systems in the world before 20th century. The largest trade network in pre-industrial world. The richest economy on earth. Guidlines for proper conduct warfare and treatment a millenia and a half before Red Cross, Geneva Convention and other pacts. A fully organized take on geopolitics before Alexander was dead, including a work of genius that makes Machiavelli look like a kid. The most well organized music system in the world, dwarfing Roman and Chinese music 50-fold in terms of complexity and beauty. Art and painting on a mighty scale when Europeans didn't even know about colour pigments. World's largest premodern organized education system, ahead of China (which came second) by a decent extent. Complete with public schools and academies. The EARLIEST democratic republics on earth, back in 1100-700 BCs in the form of Janpadas and later Mahajanpadas, when Britons still lift their arses for a useless old hag and her senile son. And no, Greeks didn't give the world democracy, we did, Greeks developed their own versions much later on. Heck, we even had toothbrushes and grand palaces, bathhouses and a highly urbanized society when your ancestors were trying to figure out how to build mud shacks while shouting at each other trying to construct a language somewhere in Germany. Then there are geniuses like Aryabhatta, Charaka, Patanjali, Panini, Tulsidas, Kalidas, Dhanvantari, Tansen, Chanakya (also known by his pen name Vishnugupta)...and the list is too huge to put in here. Britain has contributed more to genocides and rapes on a global scale, if anything. Heck, even Nazis and Khmer Rouge would hang their heads in shame if they learnt about British atrocities. Stealing German and French inventions and calling them British ones doesn't actually make them British, anyway.
@feanaro92988 жыл бұрын
+Priyo866 Those "few" things?! Ahahaha! You really are one insecure little boy, aren't you? You're claiming non-violence? How conceited. The Indians calculated the planets' mass? Provide evidence. I'm starting to wonder how much propaganda goes on in India. Railways, trains, marine chronometer, glider plane, hydraulic press, electric motor, hypodermic syringe, steam turbine, steam engine, stainless steel, jet engine, theory of evolution, theory of gravity, the reflective telescope, the laws of motion, the modern atomic theory, the laws of optics, seed drill, the idea of black holes, the rule of law, parliamentary democracy, the first ever metal bridge, Boolean algebra, calculus, DNA fingerprinting, catseye, the first electro-digital programmable computer, identified the mosquito as the carrier of malaria… and much more (can't fit it). India is nothing compared to Britain. You seem to be quite interested in British things judging by your account-are you insecure? Hahahaha!!!!

As an Englishman who spent 20 great years living and working in India amongst its friendly and intelligent people, I agree that British colonialism raped India, the miracle is that the Indian people have forgiven us for this and now welcome us as guests! Never forget that when the UK ruling class was treating Indians as little more than slaves, they were treating my ancestors, the UK working class in the same way! I feel more in common with the politically conscious Indian freedom fighters than I ever will with the nasty, hubristic swine that call themselves the UK ruling class. Well spoken Mr Tharoor!

We were a colony, discriminated against. The only reason why a lot of indians learnt english is so that they can communicate with the british, demand for equal rights and pay. This was the early nationalists era which wanted to cooperate with the British, which obviously didnt turn out well. @@hemasharma6364 yep.. had it been taught in engineering, 50% Indians would have come to know. SST makes polticians and govt officials. Engineering creates Work force.

man its embarrassing to see how deluded some Indian nationalists are. Entrenching this victim culture in Indians is the worst thing you could do.

Too good…..describing how good, how bold your speech is …..is a very difficult and almost an impossible task on anybody’s part…because you can’t describe how good a wizard of (W) (w)ords Dr Tharoor is. Congress should not have a second thought in putting you up as the next PM candidate because that can only bring them back into power again….no prejudice should work in their choice…..
