This is how I started in archery. Bought a cheap ass bow with 10$ worth of arrows and card board. Built my own quiver with thick felt and went and shot. 🏹 Is the the way

You posted this literally THE DAY BEFORE I go to buy my first bow in 20 years. Great advice, thank you!

The best way to get into anything is to make it your self don’t buy a thing from anyone ! Period ! 😊 make your now make your arrows make your own quiver make your own targets and make your own string ! Enjoy 😉 it’s hard and most people will quite the few of us who don’t live to shot! 😊 and love every day of it !

The timing couldn't be more perfect. I bought the Black Hunter Longbow as my first bow, due to your recommendation, literally five hours ago. The only things I didn't gather from watching enough of your videos are a good finger guard and a makeshift quiver. Love the video and is a great checklist even if it's not popular with your usual audience. Can you do one on how to tune your bow next?

My arm guard is a tendon boot from my late horse and back quiver is made from his sheepskin girth guard, totally unique and more importantly they’re free 🏹

For my first bow I simply went to the woods, found a small tree, cut a section off, cut string grooves, and used string from feed bags for bow string. For arrows I used straight sticks and taped pigeon feathers for fletching. Free and a lot of fun! Probably 43 years ago!😂

I buy compressed hay bales, they are bagged in the same material as archery bags. I get over 2,000 shots in them before they need to be replaced, and they cost 20 or less at a tractor supply or Atwood's or similar store. They weigh about 40lbs, but they have handles just like a target. I buy two at a time and stack them on top of one another. Even with a 50lb recurve I only get about 10 inch penetration, and they pull super easy.

Try making the quiver from an old flat screen tv inside the one i used was a clear sheet of plastic like a giant magnifying glas i used a knife cut the plastic sheeting folded it to the size i wanted covered with camo cloth i used an office stapler to staple the sides together and then the same to staple the cloth to the outside it worked ok i also used the nylon strap that held from tipping over as the shoulder strap for the quiver i used some machine bolts nuts and washers to attatch it

This is how I got started using an old duel arrow rest fiberglass 62 in long Ben Pearson bow that is 49--60 pounds on draw outdoors depending on the weather including humidity. The bow currently has a bad spray paint jobs that looks like the Return of the Jedi the Rebel Alliance helmets camo from the Forest Moon of Endor at the end of the movie. The bow also has spray paint enamel on the bow as well as a self added stabilizer insert in crooked so it was clearly done by most likely the original owner before I got the bow from a friend who never really used the bow. My brother has the bow now as it needs to be used at about a minimum of 27 inches of draw and he has 26 inch draw, he plans to make the bow the same color as the black rubber grip with built in arrow shelf or go all tan with the bow. I used old Easton aluminum arrows as everyone was moving to the new Carbon Fiber and had a part of some thick winter crew sock for my bow. Finger guard, I used a small finger guard duel left right double layered kids up to age 12 vinyl one that was thick being dual layer that I eventually had to modify to keep using the bow. This was the first bow I ever owned myself as I had used other peoples bows before this. This was all back in the 2000's when left eye dominant bows were harder to find, fewer models in non compound bows. I now have a need to ask for the model of Youth shortbow from Great Plains Traditional Archery for my main bow I paid $450 for, as I have a 24 inch draw so the model is great a 45 pound bow as the model is a 24 inch draw to have this for hunting when or if I ever do hunting. Then my other is an all fiberglass Actionrod by Actionbow that is a 25 inch draw because the bow is 35 pounds. I painted the bow all but the tip ends as paint does not want to stay with the light green military camo that Rustoleum makes as the model came unpainted, to protect the old style fiberglass. I use this bow as my getting back into archery in early 2020, not having done the sport since late 2009.

Save money on the bows and arrows (Black Hunter bow and Archery Sharley arrows). Spend the $ on a good quality glove or tab to protect your fingers from damage. You can get a cheap quiver, but do get a quiver. You'll want a quiver so that you can focus while shooting a round of 10-12 arrows without breaking your focus to pick up your next arrow from the ground.

Took an archery class, found out the teacher was also into making bows and arrows, ended up swapping info and buying a dozen arrows off him for 150. Got to pick the color scheme, his design, though. Asked for full feathers, cut in nocks and blunt tips, got full feathers, cut in nocks, knapped flint arrowheads plus he threw in spare arrowheads in case i wanted to give fletching a try. Think ill put in another order soon.

found a drop in club that is trying to recruit new people to field archery groups, not a lot of money, they loan me a bow (nice enough to even register the bow with the user for consistency) and got instructors but only 2 hours a week

Everything leather I make myself. And arc rolan snake bows are between 60 and 100 dollars, up to 26lb draw weight, and last damn near forever, they'll let you know if you like archery.

Whew. First comment, lol. I started with a bow kit off Amazon. So far, it's the 1st "manufactured" bow. I've made my own ever since seeing your board bow build.

I dont have the tools or room so im looking at the Sinoart Falcon, Sinoart Lion, and the Black Hunter from Amazon
@anthonyclark91593 күн бұрын
I have the falcon, limbs were marked at 30lbs, came in at 40lbs draw weight, and slightly twisted right out of the box. I had to order extra limbs to get the right weight. At my draw length the bow was pulling at 47lbs.
@caseysmith5443 сағат бұрын
Stay away from the Sinnoart Black Hunter metal riser, it heavy being a solid metal riser, almost as if the brand cast the Black Hunter riser then a grip material on the handle part then just orders the limbs separate. Most have the bow model in the Amazon reviews being 2--2.5 pounds basically the average non target compound bow.
