soul food always served dinners with white bread, whether fried chicken, fried fish or fried pork chops. This is in the places in Washington DC too. A whiting or lake trout fish dinner has fries, cole slaw and white bread. Most times the lake trout has old bay seafood seasoning while the whiting dinner has a generous portion of hot sauce to dip in the fish.

So happy you're in Nashville!!! Hoping you are still here and are planning or have gone to eat at "Monell's at the Mansion". There's another one in German Town, but finding a parking spot is a nightmare. But, if you use Uber.....not a problem. But I find The Mansion more fun. It's "family style, all you can eat". It's a set menu and you sit at a table with other people. So much fun meeting new people. Hope you get to go there. Also hope you're going to The Grand Ol' Opry. They always put on a great show. Will be looking for other Nashville videos.

I never got to Prince's when I worked in Nashville. Without a car it meant taking a Lyft to that side of town. I kept intending to do that with a few co-workers. Then the pandemic happened and by the time the country opened back up I was moved to another project. I'm sorry I missed the original Prince's.

Hello from Nashville Tennessee! Yes you went to the right place by going to Hattie B’s. Their chicken is incredible but I do not advise getting their version of shut the click up unless you enjoy burning twice. The pickles and the white bread are there to help with the heat. From your video, I could see how greasy your bread was. Usually, the bread is used to soak up the oils. Because, Nashville hot chicken is seasoned outside of the fryer not prior to. And I am sorry for one thing that you felt. Nashville hot chicken should be not at all like KFC. And I agree with you that it is a great hangover food. You were at the 19th Avenue place from what I could tell. I used to work right next-door and would get chicken once a week at least. I hope you enjoyed Nashville!

I miss when I used to spend half the month working in Nashville. I typically stayed on the West end at a Marriott that was a block from the very Hattie B's you went to. I used to order it online and then walk over, past the long line out the door, pick up my order, and head back to the hotel. My order was always leg/thigh Hot with a side of pickles to cut the heat and their fantastic slaw. There is no Nashville Hot around Portland so I really miss it.

Welcome to Nashville I hope you found it to be a welcoming place and had or are having a good time depending on whether you're still here. If you ever come back to Nashville and you want an expert to show you all the great places that are not tourist traps, let me know I've lived here for most of my 68 years. I'm still astonished by the tremendous growth we've had in the last two decades. The Middle Tennessee highland games and Celtic festival are coming up this September. I attended the 2019 festival for covid and had a marvelous time. Tennessee like so many other states in the Southeast were heavily influenced by Scottish many of us including myself have Scottish DNA. My grandfather on my mother's side was Scottish. I joined your channel early on in The Outlander days. Now I'm also a huge fan of your travel vlogs. They're keeping me occupied during this latest Droughtlander. Here's some light reading about Nashville 🙂 from a native, me... besides being Music City USA the first nickname of the city was the Athens of the South Some people claim that was because of our huge influence in the book publishing and printing. Others believe it's because of the number of universities and colleges found within the city limits and nearby. There are six universities in Nashville and 3 more within the adjacent counties. They're also dozens of colleges the focus on one or two skills The largest University is Vanderbilt, which also boasts a huge medical Center. We have many outstanding regional hospitals in this area and two universities that offer medical degrees, Vanderbilt + Meharry. Nashville is surrounded by beautiful lakes and Rivers. Boating, fishing water skiing and life on the water are favorite pastimes. We have many beautiful Parks throughout the city and there are several state tun parks nearby that offer camping hiking and other outdoor. activities. Nashville and the surrounding areas have a fairly large equine community and once a year we sponsor a steeplechase that is quite well known. In 1987 Princess Anne competed in the Nashville steeplechase. They had one of the largest crowd ever that year. I look Forward to seeing all of your trip through the South. Stay safe don't melt, enjoy the air conditioning and blessings to you both!

Spicy chicken uses 2 cents worth of spice and they call it "legendary" as do joints in 104 other cities! Spicy chicken in some restaurants uses only the oldest, questionably flavorful pieces of chicken as spice will hide it's lack of freshness. I know, I've worked in places where the only the oldest chicken stock is spiced. It's a universal trick. I like to order the non-spiced chicken and then add my own hot sauce. Results are so often better, the meat more fresh, flavorful, and less tough. Everyone in the comments will deny this happens but it does.

@@shaunvlog Shaun I wasn't being critical at all! Nashville is now the "it" city & has undergone so many changes. We always ate fried chicken here but the "hot fried chicken" is relatively a new thing that people associate with Nashville which is fine. The Standard Candy Company started making Goo-Goos long ago and it's one of the things Nashville was noted for way back. And you went to Loveless Cafe which is an institution. We mostly went there for turkey and dressing but breakfast and their jams and jellies are good too. We usually come to Edinburgh in May but we've waited too long to make arrangements for 3 people & are looking at maybe September, early part of the month next year. Never had trouble making reservations for my daughter & myself & she has been there on her own also but now we are bringing my niece & Outlander has increased the interest in Scotland. Happy about that but still... LOL Hope you and Teka are doing well.

KFC does a Nashville Hot Chicken from time to time. I've tried it, and honestly, I don't care for it. I just don't care for the flavor of the seasoning. I like other flavors though, just not Nashville Hot Chicken. My sister lives in Nashville, and works for a prominent business personality there. Has now for 20 years. We used to travel there a couple of times a year, but since our mother died in 2014, and our own health has declined quite a bit, we don't go anymore. I think I went down there once since mom died, and that was it. We're a 3 hour drive to the north west of Nashville. In fact, my mom died just 3-5 hours after getting back home from a trip from Nashville. Got home at 9pm, dead by 2am. Died in her sleep in her recliner. Never made it to bed that night. Dad woke up at 2am and saw she wasn't in bed, and he got up and found her slumped over in her recliner. It was shocking -- timing wise (dying just a few hours after getting home from a road trip), but not very surprising, as she had heart problems since the 80s and had recent surgery to attempt to fix a problem. She was 71. Dad is still alive, 83, but has been needing an electric wheelchair device to get around for the past couple of years. Basically since Covid. I'm in not much better shape, as a quadriplegic since '98, I have lost so much strength since Covid that I haven't gotten out and driven since Fall 2021

the story behind Hot Chicken is kinda funny. A housewife tired of her husband's constantly goofing around did a standard batch of fried chicken but dumped pure hot sauce on top. the joke is the husband actually liked the chicken and started marketing it to restaurants as a way to make money and the Nashville hot chicken was born.

The Midwest, to NY to Florida pipeline is real. I live in Western NC and many have summer mansions here. They started flocking to part time residences in the 1980s, and dug up and insane amount of our natural wildflowers. They relocated them inside of their gated communities. I can remember seeing pink lady slippers and Jack in the pulpits all over the place when I was a kid but I’ve rarely seen them since. This caused a lot of problems, along with their tendency to dig up and relocate an excess of wild ramps.

I'm trying to figure out your flights to Nashville, but I can't figure it out. Your flight from Edinburgh to Boston was a Delta 767, that's easy. But then I can't figure out what you flew to Nashville. Did you change airlines? Delta doesn't show any Boston to Nashville evening flights in the couple weeks prior to June 4, only morning flights. JetBlue flew that route in evening, but they've recently been operated by early A320s, whose wing doesn't match your video; and new A220s, but seat doesn't match your video (no adjustable headrest, no IFE screen). Southwest flies that route at that time too, but that was not a Southwest winglet out the window! There are no other current operators from Boston to Nashville... Please help me out from going crazy. Which airline and aircraft did you fly on that second flight??

White bread is standard with some dishes. Hot chicken is one of them. I don’t actually like or eat chicken sandwiches (I love chicken several other ways, though) and I don’t care for hot chicken but I do know that many would be offended if it was served with something other than white sandwich bread in some parts of the south. It’s piddly but true.

Why pay Klay to shoot you out of games finding himself! He cost the Warriors at least half dozen games last season! The Warriors were behind almost every game after the 1st quarter because of Bubba Chuck Klay throwing up crazy shots! Enough is enough...Get out of your feelings....remember they paid him for two season of not playing! They never get credit for that...
