LOVEBITES went on hiatus in autumn 2021 when the band's founder and leader, Miho (bass), left the band. They then returned in 2023 with a new bassist, FAMI. During this hiatus, Miyako (guitar/keyboards) underwent LASIK surgery to overcome her severe myopia (0.01). You can see her a little more active at the revival concert in 2023.

Lovebites is the most complete band on today's metal pitch. They fuse brilliant songwriting, stellar musicanship and awesome stage presence into one grand and unique tableau. These graceful ladies have definitely lifted the genre to incredible heights. A very, very important band.

Last summer I saw Lovebites play live at 2 gigs in London. The first, on 14th June, was at a scruffy pub called the New Cross Inn, capacity 350. The stage was barely big enough to accommodate all the band, there are several fan videos on YT that clearly show this. In addition they had problems with their set up, especially the in ear monitors they use. Despite the problems, not least having landed in England from Japan only a few hours before going on stage, they played a cracking concert to a rapturous reception from the audience. The truly are fully professional musicians. If they make it look easy, I'm sure I don't need to tell you, it's due to the hours of practice they must devote to their craft. Discovering this band was a revelation to me, I have been going to music gigs for the best part of 60 years, but I am hard put to think of another band I have seen that I would put alongside them for sheer musical perfection. 🐺

The level of talent in this band is mind blowing and they make playing at that BPM look so easy! I'm no musician and I know that's not easy. Imagine having them open for your band...talk about intimidation. No wonder the big bands (Maiden, Priest, Metallica, etc) don't ask them to tour with them, LOL. Dragonforce did in 2019 and haven't asked them again. 🙂Great reaction and breakdown! Virtuosity is right! You want a barn burner to breakdown, Soldiers Stand Solitarily (official live video) ...title alone will get your blood flowing. SSS is one of the fastest, most melodic compositions I've ever heard and it's my favorite song by any band, ever. Haruna's double bass drum pace is from another galaxy.🤘

Miyako (right guitarist) is a classically trained pianist since age 3, as part of the training classical musicians are trained to be have a stoic "never let them see how hard it is" stage face, as such the few times she lets it drop are a nice treat. Pretty sure Miyako is enjoying the moment. She's a "no bullshit" musician who is very focused on what she's doing. Just like her classical upbringing with piano. If you look at more recent videos you see her interact more with the crowd, making gestures to pump them up. Seems like the girls do rehearse a lot, and why they're so locked into each other.

This was my introduction to LOVEBITES, yep totally blown away. "Pure virtuosity", that pretty much sums it up. lol. Miyako and Midori absolutely shredding. Miho's little bass runs. Haruna is just a beast on the drums. Plus those notes Asami hit.🤘🤘 And they keep this up for hour and a half to 2 hour shows. The tapping quick tapping in the first section was done by all 3 each time, the camera just focused on 1 at a time. You haven't met new bassist Fami yet, when you come back to this band, suggest "Judgement Day" or "Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down)" from the 2023 Knockin' At Heaven's Gate concerts.

I saw them on September 12 in San Francisco. I'm 53 and have been to about a dozen concerts in my life but this was, by far, the most amazing I've ever seen. You can't even begin to imagine what it feels like to stand in their presence. It was absolutely magical.

At times you looked like I did at the Wacken Festival in 2018. There was a Japanese all-female band that had apparently been quite successful in Great Britain before. And then Haruna (little big engine on drums) started, then Miho on bass, Midori and Miyako, goddesses of the electric guitar, and of course the vois Asami. Great reaction :) I’m an old hippie who grew up in the 1970s prog rock era, Floyd, Zeppelin, Genisis, Yes, Zappa etc. I always happily consigned myself to listening to that kind of stuff, that was until I chanced upon these incredible ladies last year, I was totally blown away! They are astonishing and their live performances are something to behold! Best find in decades for me :)

Yeah insane talent(many say it should be illegal to have all this in one band...LOL).Miyako/dark hair guitarist (also the pianist) was classically trained and taught that the instrument entertains not the musician. She has been called the Ice Queen or Ms. Stoic but that is merely her stage persona. Midori/Miyako (a/k/a M&M) practice together away from the band to ensure their performances are like a Vulcan Mind Meld on stage.Everything from composition, lyrics, arrangements, music theory and LIVE performances has to be perfection to satisfy these musicians. Simply put, they are a Bucket List item to be experienced LIVE!!!!!!!

i'm with you on a lot of the older rock and metal bands. in the respect that they constantly improvised in a lot of the solo sections. you got used to the original version of the song and then live they would change it up. and it sometimes would be almost unrecognizable when i really wanted it to sound close to the studio version. that's one of the things i love most about LOVEBITES is their relentless pursuit of perfection in the solos. endless hours of practice to get it right. JETHRO TULL was one of those bands that just nailed it live. saw them 3 times between '71 and '75 and lead guitarist martin barre was about perfect every time. FF 50 years now and it's LOVEBITES doing it.
