Well, they do those routines over and over and over for years. Also most of them have been on the floor since they have memory so their spacial awareness inside of that square is probably an instinct by now

I know, I've gotten better about it now but when I was younger there was a part of my routine where I would kinda skip backward into the corner, I ALWAYS went out of bounds so my coach had to change it eventually 😂 they have some kinda sixth sense or something lol

It only counts as out of bounds if their foot goes all the way over the line, so they can step on the line a tiny bit just to feel where it is and they won’t get a deduction.

It’s always so satisfying how she lands, in her floor, and in her 2008 gold medal balance beam. Their always solid and so succinct. So crazy she was like 16 , and now she has a two kids! Congrats to her!

I don't follow gymnastics usually, so my first time seeing her was at the Olympics. Aside from her talent, the thing I loved most about her was her personality. She was always so perky and bubbly. She seemed like a genuine person even at just 16. I love that she helped Gabby Douglas too, even though she didn't get to compete at the last games.

To this day i believe that had it been a different code of point she would have won , the ridiculous judging in bejing and the execution scores given were a complete joke , espcially when nastia woukd get a 7.7 start value on bars you think something is not right , shawn just had this bravery and and consistency that other did not have then , she did skills some woukd dream to do but she lost due to nastias bars , the underscoring to her and overscoring of others

@@kiersontitus7322 she was underscored on vault, bars and beam, if i recall, her bars in qualifications were worse an got a higher score than her AA one, her vault was heavily deducted more than it should, and beam was a much lower wcore than her AA one i believe, so she was underscored, but my main point was the problem with the code, had the code been more fair like it is now, nastias bars wouldnt give her a huge advantage and although nastia was amazing and did the routines of her life she wouldnt have won if the scoring and code were more fair

I know that the 2012 Shawn will be so different from the 2008 Shawn. I can't help but feel a little nostalgia whenever I look back on the 2008 Olympics. She was so solid in her gymnastics and bubbly; she was the star of the year. She only competed senior for two years and I wish she got more time to win all of the medals she deserved. Shawn is the reason the Beijing Olympics were such a joy to watch.
