one thing I love about shawn lane is that he doesn't put notes in the music just to fill it, every note has a meaning

Those single note trills he does where he taps the next interval really fast is very interesting and I never, have ever heard another guitarist accent sustained notes like that on guitar. Lane was next level.

well you sure hit the nail on the head it says even more for these players because they did so much in so little time but only if they had more time.... theres no telling what they could have been able to achieve

Thanks so much for posting. Agree hadn’t heard him trade w a horn player before so extra cool. Like many, I listen to everybody and no one had his technical vision. Always mind blowing. Thanks

It is so tragic and coicidental--perhaps--that many of the greats in all facets suffer great woes or have a life cut short. I guess it could be seen that it is better to of lived little with great impact rather than linger with none. - I am feeling philosophical today.

i know my two favorite guitarists of all time shawn lane and jason becker both had terrible things happen(shawn's death and jason's ALS) if only either of them could play they'd be so amazingly good now and maybe get more recognition that they diserve two of the most underatted players ever
@2012music197612 жыл бұрын
It's one of my favorite phrases as well. If you decide to take the time to learn what Shawn plays note for note, it will completely blow your mind. Makes Hendrix look like an amateur.

notice that he was annoyed by the stares of the guitarists in the front row trying to cop his hit so finally he just turned his back "froze them out of his mind" and just blew off his steam. May he rest in peace. It must be very tough to go throughout ones life being "that good". We guitarists are a jealous bunch of vicious critics towards our peers.

What if Shawn would have played a 7 or 8 string instead of a straight up 6? I know I'm thinking about things that would defy the laws of physics but one can dream haha the playing is perfect as is as far as I'm concerned, never played a note he didn't mean to and had mountains of soul, technique and awesome.

@seanrickman704 жыл бұрын
@@signupsanj of course it is me. I literally just drove 14 hours from DC to Memphis, went to my apartment, showered and ran over to our rehearsal space. The other guy sat in for me before I got there which was very nice of him.

It was our rehearsal space which worked very well at the time as it became a wonderful finished studio in the end but way after we had disbanded. We were wedged into a corner just for this clinic. The room is much bigger and we were spread out and rehearsed for the POT tour there which was fun. I even had a private room for my personal studio up there and am grateful to this day for Les helping us at the time.

From 2:58 - 3:10 the run is saying i pour my heart in to this shit and then it switches to the pentatonic ( 3:10 - 3:21) and its like but when it comes down to it ill scrape any guitarist across the floor. You can see it in his facial expressions.
