he's probably the best person in this whole industry, he's so pure and genuine, such an amazing heart, down to earth and humble person. he deserves the greatest things in the world, after Rock in Rio i felt so good to see him better and healthier after the hiatus. i hope he doesn't give up on making songs, cause that's what's he do the best, he literally was born for that, he's able to pass so much emotion and his feelings through his music, it's insane. i love this guy so much, he needs to be protected at any cost

This makes me so happy! Several years ago, my daughter and niece were going to Shawn’s concert in Tampa. We’re from Texas and vacationing in Tampa (so our girls could see Shawn.) We dropped the girls off around the arena and the traffic was horrific. We turned the corner from the drop off and my sister noticed someone sitting right outside the arena’s private entrance. She noticed because she commented on how sad that person seemed. He was sitting on the ground and listening to something with AirPods in. He looked sad and lonely and we wondered why that person would be in that area listening to AirPods. My sister said, “I think that Shawn.” I said, “No way would Shawn be sitting outside alone right before his concert.” As we got closer, we realized it was Shawn. 😢 I’ve never felt so sad for another human being. Here he was, Shawn Mendes, thousands of people filing in to watch this amazing person and performer and he had no idea how special he is. It was absolutely obvious that he was in his head and trying to drown out the noise so he would be able to get up on stage and make people happy. Not long after that, I watched Shawn’s documentary and I then realized the living hell he was living in. I’m glad he stepped back to heal himself and now he seems like he’s in the best headspace and is actually able to enjoy what he does best and that’s sharing his kind heart with people. Gosh bless you, Shawn. Thanks for sharing your vulnerability with the world and best of luck with this amazing album!

The way he said « also, if you’re not sure you might not be ready to make this decision yet» Y E S. We feel so stuck in having to make decisions right here right now… When all we really need is to take a few steps back and actually think about it… Damn I have so much respect for this human being. This podcast was just pure therapy, and for the first time I actually felt understood while at the same time not actually talking to the person. THANK YOU.

Shawn is arguably the most genuine Pop artist ever to exist. He's very awared of limelight's perception & continuously works to figure out / come back to his stripped-back self. Every INFJ goes through phases of like "I just wanna be alone in the woods, man". I'm also very slow at processing tragedies; takes a long while for it to hit all at once.

I think he is highly sensitive. Many artists are.These people are sensitive, very empathetic and very creative. They have a more sensitive nervous system and a more complex brain. They experience things differently, more intensely and think long and deeply about everything. About 1 in 5 people have this personality trait. But they often only find out when they get tangled up. They always try to comply with 'what should be' and what others expect of them. But this often leads to an unhappy life. Glad Shawn found his true self...
@VEGAS-NERVE
@VEGAS-NERVE 4 ай бұрын
Yes, I read the book ‘Highly Sensitive Person’ and related so much to it. If these people are put in really nourishing environments amazing things can happen, but on the flip side, difficult things in life are felt much more deeply and can damage them more than a non-sensitive person. I think Shawn has been on both sides of this.

Even at 57, I am so blessed by this. It takes great courage and love for yourself to say, "I am not OK". To walk away was the best thing for his mental health and that is coming from someone who battles anxiety and depression weekly. I took me my entire life so far... to say, "I have not here to please others, but to please God" I am more than enough and will not allow others to put their hope in me and put on me to fix their problems. Good for you Shawn, so proud of your growth! It needs to be normalized to say, I am done!!! God bless you and Jay for the work that you guys do to bring mental health to the forefront!

Oh wow! Thank you so much for being so open about your feelings. It is so important for many people to hear that you can be at a wonderful place of your life but when "depression" hits, the lense gets totally distorted. It helps with understanding that this is not the truth being seen and felt that very moment. And understanding that receiving love is so much more difficult than giving love is a huge one... Take care. Always. Wonderful hosting, Jay.

If you're watching this and you have a family member or close friend who is an artist, just show them your love and support. You don't have to truly love their music. Just make them feel seen. Go to a show here and there, comment on their posts, listen to their songs even once. It's really not hard. No matter their age. Being famous isn't what defines an artists greatness. He's lucky to have such supportive family.

This was stunning. I've been a fan of Shawn for a while, and watching him grow has been amazing. I’m thrilled for the new album. He’s a deeply sensitive soul, like many artists. They feel and think more intensely, with a complex mind that processes the world differently. It’s a rare trait-only about 1 in 5 people have it. But they often struggle to fit into others’ expectations, which can lead to feeling lost. I’m so glad Shawn took the time to focus on his mental health. Welcome back, Shawn! Watching Shawn grow over the years and growing alongside him has been such a beautiful journey! I've always been proud of him, but I’m especially proud of the person he’s become today. It's so hard to show the most authentic version of yourself, yet he does it so gracefully. There are very few artists who allow themselves to be as vulnerable as he does, especially with fragile masculinity being so prevalent. Seeing him cry over his sister's letter was so pure and beautiful. I’m beyond happy that he's back! I love him so much, it's hard to put into words. I just wish him endless happiness and love.

I have been a fan since he first came out because I FEEL every line he sings. My grown kids used to tease me about my fascination with his music but now they get it. Thank you, Shawn for your bravery to share your struggles. It is important for people to know that all that glitters is not gold. So much is going on underneath

shawn is just a wonderful human being, being here for years and growing with him is so so so special 🫶🏻 after entering my self acceptance and mental health journey years ago, seeing him talk about his experience is so interesting! i couldn't be happier to see his awareness, because I know how good it is for us as humans. thanks for this opportunity jay! after everything, my heart feels lighter seeing him is this place. i've seen him in rock in rio and i just couldn't stop crying with all the emotions, it was a concert from his soul to ours, it's so genuine just like him. i'm always thankful for you shawn! keep taking good care of yourself, we love you and support you forever, thanks for being my safe place ❤️‍🩹

Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.

Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!

I wish they were readily available in my place. Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac. He's constantly talking about killing someone. He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD know if it is common for an obsession with violence.

For some reason, I was sobbing through about 80% of this interview. You can really see how Shawn is working on himself right now, and it really inspires me to do the same. I think we tend to get so lost in our everyday lives and responsibilities that we forget how important it is to connect with ourselves and our deeper feelings. Listening to this podcast allows your mind to slow down for that one and a half hours of the day. Thank you for doing the podcast, Jay. I'm also a big fan of your book How to Think Like a Monk. I'm reading it for the second time because I realized how far I've drifted from living in awareness. When I read your book, I see the world differently-more positively. So, thank you for helping my mind slow down in this fast-paced world

This is really good conversation. I know it's focused on Mendes but I think it's good to say "regular" people go through similar things in life and also have a hard time processing it. It's nice to hear it out loud and definitely going to take some things away from it. It's tough, life doesn't stop for any of us to process many things that burden us daily consciously or unconsciously.
