I love going to book signings because it’s always amazing to find book people like me. I felt the same in school when I was the only one who was reading. Even when I joined the workforce people would look at me weirdly because during my breaks I would be reading my book instead of gossiping or scrolling through my phone. I loved this video and the feelings of being seen by black people who read and write beautifully crafted books. I would love to go to Illinois but girl I’m in Texas lol. So I’ll just have to enjoy your videos from my devices. Thank you for this video and your love of books. It speaks volumes to me in so many ways ❤

@@ayonnamckinney8762 I know there are Facebook groups about events in certain cities. I also follow all of my favorite authors and they post their tours. Additionally, if you are in school (university) sometimes they host author events. Those are a few things that I do to keep up with book events. I’m sure there’s more.

I work at a bookstore and thought I could answer your question about what gets a table and what doesn't. I do work at Indigo (Canadian Bookstore) and it could be different for Barnes, but big tables are usually decided by upper management. While smaller tables and displays are made when we have an overstock of certain books, like Dune for example has been sending tons of copies to bookstores since the release of the second movie. It would make the most sense to use a table for Dune then Kennedy Ryan. Also some books regardless of their popularity if the bookstore doesn't have enough stock we'd just keep it on the shelves instead of placing it on a table. This just avoids an empty looking display. There's a lot more reasons but I hope that answers your question!

As a big thriller reader, definitely recommend The Kind Worth Killing. It's based on Strangers on a Train, but more fast-pace than the original. It's usally a 5-star read for people who read a lot of thrillers and are kinda jaded about the overhyped ones. Also the Finlay Donovan series would be a great mystery read if you're in the mood for something hilarious, cute, and ridiculous.

I adore the addicted calloway sisters series!! definitely needs to be read in order! I always tell people it’s very much character driven vs plot driven. that’s why it’s so long because you follow these characters through years and years of their lives. just like boys of tommen they’re found family and emotional reads (absolutely check trigger warnings). krista & becca ritchie also do such a great job showing that addiction and healing are never linear. that humans are complex and flawed, we’re not perfect and that’s okay. I think about these books and characters all the time. it’s a commitment/journey, but I think it’s worth it❤️🩹
