Grown man, former military veteran, seen and done some sh*t, this song brings tears every time. The day it doesn't is the day they put me in the ground. Others that crush it on a similar topic line: John Michael Montgomery - The Little Girl and Jason Michael Carol - Alyssa Lies.

My brothers and I grew up in the 60's and 70's, back then child abuse was considered a family thing, but the authorities would become involved if you were starving your child, if they were beaten so badly, they had to go to the ER or like in this case, the child was beaten to death. Back then we kids didn't have rights, if we told a teacher what was going on, our parents would be called which led to an even worse beating, so we kept quiet.

This is such a tragic story, yet ends knowing she is now an angel, & safe. Check out Martina's other hit song s, like 'Independence Day' & a more fun song 'This one's for the girls'' or her amazing song about Cancer sufferers, 'I'm gonna love you through it'. Just beautiful.

I reported many students in my years of teaching. It is so painful. Better to report and be wrong, than to ignore the situation and have been right.
@pixied1028

This video made me wonder because teachers are mandated reporters, why did she ignore obvious bruises from an adult hand? I realize it fits the story. Are they only mandated reporters some places or across the USA? I am from Illinois where they are. Again, ppl i know this is a video the teacher not asking fits the story of the song. I just feel had she reported it the child may not have died. Teachers can be heroes when they report, get a child out of a potentially fatally abusive home, saving their lives. Please tell me had u seen her same dress, sad looking, bruises and probably a poorly packed lunch as well you would report her mother? Thanks for being a hero even if there are times u are wrong as you said the kids it saves matters. Once its sorted out the truth comes out of the innocent ones. Thanks for all you do.

My momma survived this. Her father never went to prison tho as he was a hero since he served in the navy. Had medals n whatnot. He went nuts tho n mom was his punching bag. Worst yet was when she fought back she was the one who got arrested even at age 11. Time were messed up even then. But she never let anyone keep her down. She even ran safe houses for kids out of our homes. Said she always wished she had someone to turn to n wanted to be that person for other kids. She is a true firecracker n a free spirit but has a heart of gold n I'll never forget her lessons

I was an adult and child protective services social worker for Alabama for 25 years. I didn't have any in my caseload die on my watch, because I got them out in time, but I remember 2 cases while I was on call that I had to respond to where the kids died. I'll never get them out of my mind. I didn't know about them till that night, but I still blamed myself for not knowing earlier. Wasn't my fault, but I just felt so bad about it. I've been retired for 12 years now. After doing that job for 25 years, I was exhausted, plus, I developed MS during it and stress makes MS so much worse. I still have nightmares about those 2 kids I couldn't save. I say this, parents, LOCK UP YOUR GUNS AWAY FROM KIDS, AND ALSO, DONT SLEEP WITH YOUR LITTLE BABIES IN THE BED WITH YOU. 1 child (2 yo), died from gunshot from his 4 yo brother. They were playing army and the gun was loaded. In other case, a 6 week old baby girl smothered because her parents put her in bed with them and one rolled over on her in their sleep. Both cases were terrible accidents that could have been prevented. So I dream of those sweet concrete angels. Thank yall for your reaction. May God bless you always. ❤❤

@robinhatcher8021
@robinhatcher8021 Жыл бұрын
@@sallymcmurray949 Yes it does. I have had so many folks say to me that they didn't know how I did that job. My answer is always the same: Our clients need us to be their voices but I don't know how I did it for 25 years. Now that I'm retired, I can look at the full moon and smile because I know I'm not on call anymore. I always ended up being on call during a full moon and for anyone who doesn't believe that a full moon doesn't effect human behavior is DEAD WRONG. I was a dementia specialist/trainer for mental health and that was one thing we trained on. Since our bodies are made up of such a great bit of water, just like the moon controlling the tides, it controls our behaviors in the same way. I'm sure you noticed that plenty of times too. Thank you for your service. ❤️🙏

This is untrue. Martina did not write this song. The writers are Stephanie Bentley and Rob Crosby. It may be based on a true story, but it's not Martina's niece.
@catherinetodd5163
@catherinetodd5163 11 ай бұрын
Yeah this is fake. As said above, Stephanie Bentley wrote the lyrics to this song after she read an article about a woman who had killed her daughter and she became inspired to write about this abuse. One google search could have told you that or one where you find zero news articles about it or any charges or even a murder trial so I echo the person above about the need to research what you read on the internet. Her niece is still alive and her sister, I believe, if I remember correctly, is a successful CEO and businesswoman. Unless she retired by now since these rumours/lies and gossip have gone on so long. Sad indeed.

This song makes me sad every time I hear it. But me being an atheist I feel like it is even more sad. I believe every moment of life is precious because this life is all we have, and every time a child dies it is made even more tragic because they got to live such a short life. I feel like the whole heaven and angels is a comforting thought. I wish I could believe. I just can’t.

Not true and Martina didn’t write this song. A woman named Stephanie Bentley wrote the lyrics after she read a newspaper article about a woman who had killed her own daughter. Martina Mcbride her niece was beaten to death by her mother from what I understand. This song was made about her, and to bring the topic out for people to help children. Bless you MM 🙏 ♥ 🙌 💖

Not true. The woman who wrote the lyrics said she was inspired to write it after reading an article in the newspaper about a woman who had killed her daughter. This isn’t McBride’s biographical story. Her niece is still alive and well and her sister is a successful businesswoman, not in prison. Just rumours/lies and gossip.
