This is literally the first thing beginning improvisers should be taught... took me SO LONG to figure out how to get melody and harmony working together instead of against each other. Jazz education seems to have a chronic with issue with connecting tech skill with actually getting the feel you want... no wonder berklee funk is a thing

I love the simplicity of this approach! Thanks for sharing this, Shawn. Any similar approaches for simple lines over major ii-V-Is? An easy way to practice a line that hits the chord tones by playing a straight forward scale of 8ths, maybe with a bebop feel?

Using harmonic minor actually still works pretty well on major ii Vs. You just have to make sure to resolve to major 3rds on the I chord. You will end up with a little bit of dissonance, mostly on the ii chord, but since it resolves pretty quickly, it all sort of works out.
