To me this album is Kanye sitting back and showing his Mother, "Look Mom, look at all these sounds and artists I can bring together to shine not only for themselves but in the name of you." For an album about his own Mother who passed away, Kanye was his most selfless and let the production and featured artists shine before him. This is truly a moment for the culture.

The album arc is essentially Kanye starting in “jail” then going through a redemptive journey to purify his soul. It has two acts. Act 1 ends with Heaven and Hell. Act 2 starts with Donda. So New Again fits thematically as the follow up to Jesus Lord and the start of the purification. That baptism you mentioned up front. Come to Life is him essentially apologizing to Kim and accepting that he’s now free from his past, his mistakes, his grief, etc etc

This album is like the exact opposite of mbdtf. Mbdtf is about the music, the musicality, the glorious ness of the whole album, the richness of everything. But DONDA, is mainly about the voices. It’s kind of like ambient music. Very rich and dark, mainly focusing on voices. Like every song shines because of the voices, like all the features shine on every track. Every single one. Kanye is the Goat just accept it. Once you get past that it's all pretty simple to understand. Since Kanye is a timeless hip hop figure he features people who are the current sound of the time he drops that way their place in music history is forever marked in the discog of the lineal GOAT. That's a concept that's rather obvious from the actual artists being featured's perspective which is why they all perform like their lives depend on it even if the conception is that they're sub par talent wise.

Facts, people have different music taste. Donda and CLB won’t even be comparable music wise. Not bc of whose better or worse. Bc Drake and Ye make entirely different music and to different fanbases. @William Humphrey I listen to it twice and I’m in tuned with mostly all the songs, I can’t say the same for his last albums, it’s probably because he has so much guest appearances that contributed out of their respective elements to Kanye West work, it was as if Kanye was the conductor of his own symphony, i feel like this is futuristic positive Chronic 2001, and it’s so crazy that all songs don’t have any derogatory influence, pretty amazing in my opinion.

I feel like the combination of the album name, spiritual song names, religious references, grief and depression all combine to create a peice which in theory isn’t about himself; simply about his hardships which could relate to everyone else. And the abundance of incredible features, is like Kanye giving back to the community and creating this force of artists to promote his love for Christ. A lot to think about really, which is why I love Kanye’s genius.

Kanye really is such a good director to these featuring artists. Making them perform their best. Similar to how Kendrick directs the instrumentalists to making them perform their best.

As a HUGE kanye fan since the beginning and losing both my parents my mom at 21 and father this year at 33 I can appreciate your abstract and out of box interpretation of this album. This album was a tribute to his mother and his journey within christ. Its art. Its glorious, its emotion and its such a journey. Def subscribing, we vibe HEAVY. Music is more than just sound it is spiritual. Best reviewer I have seen yet. Keep dissecting and diving deeper than the sound. Music has saved my life more than once. Kanye is to me someone who got lost and was buried in the dark but stayed true to who he is and his "weirdness" and learned that his "weirdness" was actually his ability to be different without needing validation. This is why he is a billionaire now. He never gave up and embraced his gifts as a visionary. This mans journey is an absolute triumph for anyone who has been told to "be normal"

This album is growing on me for sure. At first, I was too hyped for it so of course it didn’t live up to my gargantuan expectations, but I’m starting to really appreciate it for what it is. My only gripe is I wish if he wanted it to be clean, than I wish that he and others didn’t curse and censor themselves cause it sounds a bit off sometimes.

For how long the album is, I have been able to listen the whole way through without feeling the need to instantly skip. Obviously there are some weaker tracks, but with the number of features Ye still has such a presence on the album because you know he is using the features to strengthen his own vision and bring more to the table that Ye on his own can't and I really appreciate that

Kind of like how a kid will show their parents what they created in a form of drawing or anything else. Very heartstring-pulling from kanye. obviously wish he could have done more, but this is ye we are talking about! 9.5/10 album :)
