Saw No Doubt at Sleeptrain Amphitheater in 2009. I knew it would be good but didn't expect it would end up one of my favorite shows. The performance and sound quality were off the charts. Paramore opened the show. When the ND guitarist played the intro to this song, everybody knew the version was going to be great. Gwen and the rest of the band were amazing.

Wow...Zoey. You're doing great! Dad seems to be the one with the nerves. lol Anyway loved the reaction and I thought I'd suggest another song by Guen Stefani, if interested. "Guen Stefani - Hollaback Girl (Official Music Video)" (by the channel: Guen Stafani) --This song is from her debut album called "Love, Angel, Music. Baby" released in 2004. It's a hip-hop song tune that heavily draws influence from the 1980's hip-hop and dance music. And during her solo career she sometimes favored adding elements of reggae in a lot of her work. (imo) And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you. Thanks for sharing. peace out~

This song is about the broken relationship between bassist Tony Kanal and singer Gwen Stefani
@x_trio_3_po3332 ай бұрын
Similar to "Don't Speak", many of the songs by Fleetwood Mac and by ABBA are songs about romantic breakups within the bands even while they were still performing together as a band. I think the singer PINK was also in a similar situation when she recorded "So What?" around the same time she broke up with her husband, Carey Hart who also appeared in her music video.

though this is mainly about bassist tony breaking up with gwen, it also expresses the frustration and resentment the band members were feeling about all the media focus only on gwen, even though they are a band. it was bringing tension and stress about whether they should keep going forward as a group. of course gwen went on to a great solo career. this is my favourite no doubt song and gwen is gorgeous in this video. it wonderfully captures the early-mid '90s vibe in fashion & music ❤

You are right that it was about her break up with the guitarist, however the video is about how with bands like this with a hot female singer that the focus is going to be on her and how jealousy eventually creeps in and can break up bands.. Her brother is also a member of the band.

I can distinctly remember the day me and my family traveled to a larger city about an hour to do some clothing shopping. It was likely back in 1995 when the CD was released, my sister got the album and I heard it being played every possible minute of the day. I still remember every riff, later I learned the drumming and I remember every lyric of all the songs (just as I do for her album Jagged Little Pill from Alanis Morissette....and my brothers CDs from Rammstein and "The Presidents of the United States"). These albums, along with others...(like the LP Licence to I'll from the Beastie Boys that my neighbour proudly let me listen to) formed the way my brain collects my memories. I forgot a lot, but every memory is closely linked to music, either a specific song, or a genre I listened to at that time. What you're doing is great, you're creating core memories. I'm still heavily influenced by music on a daily basis, visited over 375 festivals and events over the past two decades and even worked in the music industry briefly. Music makes the world go round, so cherish your time exploring. It feeds your soul while shaping your future 😘

"Just a Girl" was the song I was going to recommend to Shawn for Zoey. However instead I'm going to recommend "You're the Boss" by Brian Setzer featuring Gwen Stefani. This is found on Setzer's 1998 album "Dirty Boogie". Other song recommendations are: "You Don't Own Me" by Grace. And "See You Again" by then 15yo Miley Cyrus. And "Heaven" by DJ Sammy. And "Beautiful (Vantin Radio Mix)" by Christina Aguilera. And "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera.

The band didn't break up but they did temporarily separate (I think on good terms or at least not on really bad terms I think they still kept in touch and even helped eachother out from time to time with things) for a few years for her to have a solo career and then have gotten bake together since (at least for a while I have never kept the closes eye on their careers).

The song and the video are abit different, the video depicts her getting bigger than them. She was gaining all the spotlight and prob because she was going single by this time, single as an artist. The video shows her getting photos all alone pushing the guys out of the spotlight. They started together but she was the star.

The guys are showing angst against her. You can see Gwen is getting the spot light hog treatment while the rest of the group isn't getting recgonized at all. She's doing publicity photo shoots. All of the photographers are around her. She's dolled up doing poses. And the dudes are just there behind the scenes all the time kind of quiet quitting angry when they're doing their part. At the same time she's kind of playing the victim card. She's just embracing it and giving her best until that one point in the video you see her smile/pose gaze turn to her band members where she notices them whispering and giving her looks. Her smile fades into a look of a sad epiphany. But yeah aside from the video, like others have said the actual song is about her break up. I wonder what her current husband thinks of that song? She looks really different now imo. And I never thought in a million years that she'd go for a guy like the one she's with. But of course I don't know anything about their lives lol. It's just that you look at the gwen in this video you don't exactly get country life vibes. In the 80's guys crushed on Susanna Hoff. In the 90's they crushed on Gwen.
