Shawn, as someone who primarily has a lot of Left views politically, but also grew up with a Vietnam Vet father, Desert Storm Vet brother, and a Korean War Vet grandfather, (none saw action, but served our country proudly)... I have to emphasize that what you are doing is of the utmost importance in bridging the gap between anti-war folks and the people who understand that it is an unfortunate necessity. You're wonderfully open-minded and nonjudgmental, and your interviews help illuminate the absolutely staggering rawness of war that the vast majority of people, myself included, can't ever fully comprehend. What you are doing helps others develop empathy and understanding for the men and women who legitimately sacrifice their existence so I can sit here in my home office, making a living, food in the fridge, and not have a single fear that people with guns will storm in here and end it all. We've got it so good in the US that we've taken for granted all these basic comforts and security nets around us because of people we get to see in your interviews and all those who fought before. Thank you for your service in the military, and thank you for your continued service in illuminating the stories of these absolute legends of men and women.

As someone who grew up punk rock in a big blue city, who then commissioned into military service and after a career has grown more disillusioned with the US government, just realize that not everything is black and white. What the politicians are doing is wholly divorced from what the guys who raise their right hand and swear to do. Bad people can direct good people to pointless wars and military contractors get rich off the backs of pointless conflict putting America's kids in harm's way. There are only a small group of bad guys in this story, and it's not the droves of countless youth who volunteer with the best of intentions.
