Literally my favorite guy to watch play guitar on the interweb. I'm so glad that your subscriber numbers are growing, people need to hear you. Your viewers have been clamoring for you to make instructional videos like this for a long time, and now that you have a bunch of them out, it was definitely worth the wait! You sir, do not disappoint.... Accept yourself, you definitely disappoint yourself. Haha. The guy that rips a scale, then gives himself the thumbs down mid solo. In all seriousness, thanks for inspiring me every time I see you play!

I saw Toto a year or so ago and got to hang with Luke for a little while. What a nice, cool guy. They were astounding. No clams all night by anyone. That guy played on and wrote so many great songs. Nice to see the respect for him and the band. It bums me out when I see people bag on him or the group. Oh, and your playing is ridiculously inspiring. Thank you for the content!

Shawn Tubbs should seriously put out a guitar method of his own unique perspective of playing music. Because what he has to offer the world is worth investing in. Plus all of his videos deserve far more recognition. He's the kind of person, that even if you put aside all his musical knowledge and talent, I'd still root for his success. I can tell he's just a down to earth, good person overall.

Thanks! That humbucker is a Suhr SSV. I didn't use any pedals this time. All of the tones were from the 3 channels of a Friedman BE-100 Deluxe head. I used a plugin for Delay.

Very nice playing Mr Tubbs! Will be definitely attempting to use you're methods to break my 2 finger pentatonic mold and eek out me 3 fingers trying to bake in how to play outside. Don't know the protocol on asking questions, somewhere better for ? or is this da place? Don't see many replies on comments but there be a few. Like the beat in you're backing track on this vid, what drum program are you using and are you playing bass....great bass playing! See the iPad lurking in the corner with volume sliders and wondering which looper program that is and if you have any recommendations for best and easiest way of creating backing tracks.
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! The backing track was done by me. I played bass and used a program called EZ drummer 2. The Ipad was actually the control interface for my UA audio OX top box. Thanks so much for watching!

Shawn, so helpful to hear some of your process- syncopated, chromatic runs, but so much more. It's just so tastefully executed and phrased. I might take inspiration from your approach... I'm giving myself permission. Thank you. 3 questions- your style seems just as elegant as your playing. If I may, wear did you get those pants & glasses, and, just curious- what beard trimmer do you use? I'm looking for something that gives as clean of a look. Cheers from Duluth, MN!

@@ShawnTubbs Thank you for responding man I really appreciate that. Haven't had much luck with messaging people on KZbin, but I figure people are just busy but I watch your channel all the time. I just purchased both albums from you, the jam tracks and the real tracks. I am loving it. You are a dying breed of guitar player. I try really hard to do all my videos with minimal cutting and editing. It's a real shame, there are a lot of you tube guitar players using editing to cheat the audience a little too much and its nice to see someone who really cares about the feel and performance, its immediately evident when you see a player of your caliber, and man I just wish you all the success in the world, you deserve it brother! And I am so thankful for your content. If I am ever frustrated or stuck in a rut I just go to your channel, so bottom line thank you!! Also I am curious, do you do lessons online? I just recently started working really hard on my KZbin channel and I know I have a long way to go but it would be so helpful to take some lessons and learn about your process and get some playing tips as well! Any constructive criticism would be very helpful. But thank you so much for taking the time out to get back to me!! Just wondering, if the key of the song was in A dom7 would the riff still work? Or even just the end part? Thanks as always!
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
If the key root is A7 the riff would work over the root chord. If you wanted to do the same riff over the 4 chord D7, you would have to think Amin7.

Cool lick, Shawn! What drum software are you using? Is it SD3? Also, you're getting awesome tones from the OX. Have you tried the Boss WAZA Tube Expander, and if so, which do you prefer? Thanks!

Thanks Darin! I'm still using EZ2. I have yet to try the Boss WAZA Tube Expander, but I'm pretty sold on my UA OX box. It sounds great!
@TheDarinAmes5 жыл бұрын
@@ShawnTubbs Cool beans, Shawn. I've only just purchased SD3 and I must admit there's a lot to it and I'm still hiking up the learning curve. EZD2 is awesome and I love it. I'm still trying to choose between the OX Box and the Boss WAZA. I like the fact that the Waza lets you use custom IRs but I'm not crazy about the fact that it seems to limit you to one and its software only gives you one mic to play with, whereas the OX gives you two mics as well as room mics.I also dig the OX's UI and tablet friendly approach, whereas the Boss software currently requires a computer and doesn't have nearly as sweet a UI. In terms of live *and* studio use, do you find the OX handles both to your liking? If you find yourself in a live situation in which you need to attenuate your amp's volume, does the OX give you the sound through your amp that you want and at the same time allow you to feed the FOH the OX's pristine processed signal? Thanks so much for taking the time to answer! You the man!
