You really the one who inspires me to paint and this is my one year practicing my skill in watercoloring ✨

Thank you for sharing this! I would love to see an updated version now that you have a few more years of experience. When I was a little girl, I always loved watching Mr. Rogers go through tours of businesses and shops, and I don't think that interest in "behind the scenes" will ever go away!

Shayda, you are an inspiration! I love your studio tour - I have a 'room' in my house that is meant to be my studio but it doesn't feel quite right yet, it is still too cluttered and in disarray. I understand how you feel when you say your mind is messy and busy - a tidy and fresh feeling studio is a great balance to that. Thank you for inviting us into your studio, it is beautiful.

Creative Minds are Rarely Tidy ..... so you're rare. When I paint, I really get into what I'm doing-literally, covered with paint-on my cheek, nose, everywhere. I've never drawn on anything other than paper, wood or walls. Technology is passing me by-can't stay abreast of it. I don't have enough storage space for all my stuff-I'm older than you so I've been collecting supplies longer than you. I wish I could have a nice neat creative space like yours. If I could have anything in your studio, I would pick the vintage typewriter-I want one that works. I have a 1948 Singer Featherweight-love her with all her scratches from the past. She sews a nice straight line and I prefer the buttonholer I bought for her over the modern sewing machine's built in one. Have fun creating.

I love how you are a natural in front of the camera. So confident and fresh. You are tidy! I just made my art studio video yesterday. I am new to building my channel. You are so inspiring! It took me two days and a lot of air punching and tears to move through my emotional blocks. I judge myself so harshly. But then this is what my art is for me. A healing journey. Thanks for uplifting and inspiring me. Oh and love the glasses. You look adorable. I love that you get out and go to the coffee shop. I have been wanting to do this. What stylus do you use? I got one but I don't think it works too well. You are so organized. Bravo.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m a relatively new subscriber and I’ve been trying to binge watch over the last few days, so while I have been clicking “like” for you, I haven’t left any comments on older videos. I really love your style and technique and I would love to get into bujo, but I have a concern that I’m hoping you can help me with. Basically, three years ago I became disabled and was forced to retire from teaching. Since then, I’ve turned to crafting more than ever to keep me positive and to give me purpose. Unfortunately, I had partially lost the use of my left leg and foot and am unable to go up and down stairs (and while I’m able to use a walker in my house for short distances, I’m reliant on my wheelchair to go out). While in the hospital/rehabilitation center, they taught me to go up and down stairs by using my arms while sitting on the step. This ended up giving me intense pain in my wrists and forearms. After seeing a Rheumatologist, I found out that I now have carpal tunnel. So, we did get a stairlift for me, but I find any time I’m typing or writing for an extended period of time, my hands and wrists will hurt. I’m learning how to use the dictation mode on my Mac computer, but what can I do so I can draw and do hand lettering? I do have physio tape that I can use to wrap my wrists if that helps, but I’m wondering if you have any ideas that would help me. Thank you so much in advance! I appreciate any advice you’d have. 😊💜~ Sharon

Hi Sharon, I'm sorry to hear that you are in pain. But I'm glad that you've found art and creativity, and that you find them to be a positive uplifting force, as I do. If I understand, your concern is that extended time spent drawing/lettering will cause pain in your hands and wrists because of the carpal tunnel. So I have two suggestions: First, have you tried journaling? I've just gotten into keeping a planner or bullet journal and it's a great way to combine hand lettering and drawing. But journaling offers many other ways to be creative such as collage and stamping. I can't recommend these two creative pursuits enough! They are so much fun, you can use them as part of journaling, or just on their own. You can even carve your own stamps (I have many block printing/carving tutorials) if you're having a 'good day' and then use your handmade stamps whenever you like. You can also print out journal 'spreads' or 'layouts' so that you don't have to design them yourself. I'd also like to say that losing some of the use of your hands, although it must be incredibly tough, if I may try to put a positive spin on it, it sort of frees you from the confines of 'getting it right'. You don't need to waste any time painting what you see in front of you, now you can paint what's in your heart. Get a big canvas and some acrylic paints and see what you come up with. Don't worry about technique or about holding the brush the proper way. You can pour paint, you can splatter paint, you can hit the canvas with fist fulls of paint! Do what is comfortable and pain-free for you. I hope that is helpful in some way. Look up stamping, collage and abstract or non-objective painting on KZbin and I think you'll find you have a lot of really cool options. Please let me know how it goes. Best wishes.

Thanks! Yes, I used to go to a life drawing night, but I'm an artist that also needs to draw from 2D images. I'm much better at drawing from 2D than 3D, so I've always allowed myself that. The old Playboys are great. They really celebrate women and they make a great life drawing reference. :)

Recently found your channel...it's such an inspiration (and so is your workspace!!) My question is about your Picmonkey video...do you use it to turn your artwork into clipart? As a budding artist (at 52!!!) I'd like to create clipart to turn my watercolors into cards, etc. Grateful thanks!!!
@ShaydaCampbell6 жыл бұрын
I have used PicMonkey to do almost everything over the years, collaging photos, putting text on photos, but I've never used it to create clip art. I had to go (reluctantly) to Photoshop to do that. But it turned out Photoshop wasn't as scary as I had initially thought. I can't recommend PicMonkey enough, but for clip art, I think you need Adobe Photoshop. :)

Hi Shayda, I have a question. What software do you use with Lightroom? Are you happy with how it works with your phone and Chromebook? Thank you
@ShaydaCampbell6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by software that I use with Lightroom. I edit my photos in Lightroom on my mac or on my chromebook and then I send them to my phone for use on social media. I also use Photoshop to do things like make video thumbnails. Overall, I am very happy with Lightroom, I have been using it for ten years. It is the cheapest program for the Adobe suite subscription and for me it is the most valuable. Hope that helps!
