Ibn Taymiyyah is one of the most famous scholars of the fourteen and a half centuries of Islam. Everybody who studies Islam can indeed recognize this name. He was born in a very volatile point of the Islamic history, in Damascus. Sometimes we think that the situation we are living in is bad, but Ibn Taymiyyah was born in a much worse situation.
Ibn Taymiyyah came from a scholarly line, both his father and grandfather were great ‘Ulama, he grew up with his three brothers from whom all of them eventually became scholars of Islam. Though Ibn Taymiyyah became more successful than his brothers for many reasons. Of them, was that he was truly called a polymath. A polymath is somebody who is an expert or specialist in more than one field. Furthermore, they are very rare in history. Therefore Ibn Taymiyyah was one such polymath.He studied multiple fields and mastered multiple of them.

Farhan Aftab Assalamualaikum oarahmatullahi oabrakatuh dear brother. ALLAHU SUBHANAHU OATAALA is the greatest and deserves the utmost respect. So His name should at least start with a bold letter. So I think it's better to write "Ma sha Allah" than to write "Ma sha allah" and of course ALLAHU SUBHANAHU OATAALA knows the best.

01:56 Dr Yasir Qadhi: "You cannot understand Islam...even if you disagree with Ibn Taymiyyah...You cannot understand Islam without having a knowledge of what he wrote and either supporting or opposing it" This is very extreme, Dr Yasir Qadhi is explictly saying that Ibn Taymiyyah is a litmus or a bridge to Islam that cannot be skipped! Then you either agree or disagree with his view! Since when was a scholar given such weight in Islamic history?! Some scholars in specific fields are indispensable like Sibawayh in grammar or Tabbari in Exegesis but it's usually for one or two specifc fields in Islamic sciences but Salafis hold Ibn Taymiyyah as the ultimate Sheikh in all of sciences (Fiqh, Usool, Arabic, Exegesis, Kalam, Aqidah, Politics etc.) Also did Muslims knew Islam before him? What about Muslims who never heard of Ibn Tamiyyah like in India, Mali, Morocco? Are they heretics? This fanboyism that Salafis have with Ibn Tamiyyah is very peculiar and unprecedented in my opinion in Islam. Ironically Salafis are the ones to accuse others of bias or "Tassub" to certian scholars when they are the most biased.

Stop being so argumentative and rebellious dont disagree with him or them just because you want to follow ur desires/nafs. Whats ur credibility? Hes an academic who studied at madina/yale uni and he studyied on ibn taymiyyah/theology/islam/history for over 20 years, is your knowledge even as much as his shoe? Dont argue with scholars.

@@Fatima_33 How am I argumentative and rebellious just because I disagree with Dr Yasir? And how does this make me a follower of my desire? I also never claimed I'm more knowledgeable than him. I clearly showed a part where he went a bit extreme in his assessment of IT. BTW Yasir Qadhi is one of the few western scholars I listen to (I dont live in the west btw)

Lol this is not extreme at all... he just said anyone trying to study Islam cannot ignore ibn taymiyyahs impact on it... he’ll come up in one place or another in your search for knowledge... then you made a false point after... he’s talking about understanding Islam from a scholarly perspective and I don’t even know what the hell your last sentence has to do with anything... sheikh YQ is not even salafi... In fact hardcore salafis hate him
@saeedabdullah9300
@saeedabdullah9300 4 жыл бұрын
Kala k Yes it’s extreme and yes I was speaking in scholarly sense as well (your average layman Muslim probably doesn’t know many Sahaba or Scholars) I disagree with that a student of knowledge must stumble upon IT if they are serious...You don’t go through IT if you’re a Quran specialist (Qiraat) or Hadith specialist or History specialist or Linguist and many other fields Even in fiqh you don’t need to go through IT if you’re not Hanbali The only fields I would say IT is inevitable is Aqidah/Kalam since Salafis argue non-stop with other Muslims using his literature to support their Aqidah Note: This is not insinuating that IT is not a polymath, he actually is multi-disciplinarian but he is not the be all end all Salafis claim he is...There other specialist or polymaths who are prioritized. For example, before the wahabbi movement, you rarely find Kalam scholars discuss his Kalam views or legal scholars discuss his opinion on Innovation/Bidah

Ibn taymiyah was sheikhul fitna. He was imprisoned because he was so destructive. He even attacked Ali (ra) and his progeny the prophets(saw) family line. He was a praiser of the khawarij. He wanted to destroy Islam from within. Every extremist who gives us a bad name is a follower of this fitna sheikh

billy boy 86 how could he have attacked Ali رضي الله عنه when Shaykh al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله‎‎ lived after the Salaf? And I don’t think you’ve read even a single book of his. He refutes all the innovators. He wrote “Manhaj as-Sunnah” which is known as arguably the best refutation against the Shias. He wrote “Majmoo al-Fatawa” which is used by the Ulemah which includes refutations of the sufis, the khawarij and their likes. His knowledge was immense. He was very knowledgeable in almost everything such as fiqh, aqidah, tafsir, and hadith science and he had debated many top scholars of each specialty many of which he had beat (in the debate)

Muaaz ibn taymiyyah tried to attack other Islamic sects making false theory’s about them like for example Fatima bint prophet Muhammad(saw) was a lier that it is her right to inherit the land but in fact she does not lie she is the blessed daughter of the prophet and Islam. She did speak the truth that the land does belong to her because of her inheritance. Ibn Taymiyyah can say whatever he want but just know that on the day of judgement he will face a painful punishment from God because of the fitna he spread. Astugfurallah!
