Another version that still gives goosebumbs. When the original came out, I was a man in an abusive marraige. There was a woman I was working with who became the person who listened to my struggles. I worked up the courage to leave my abusive wife, and when I did, the woman I worked with swooped in and became my one in a billion love. Her and I have now been together since 2006 and we got full costody of the two kids i had with my ex, along with having two kids of our own.

The same thing kinda happened with me. I was with an EXTREMELY abusive man. Nearly beat me to death a few times. But I kept waiting for that beginning love to come back. And he got a new girlfriend he still called me daily and nightly though. He dedicated this to me because I had moved on too. Not to the wonderful man I’m with now. But someone better than him. But I just couldn’t not answer that fu*kin call. I’d look at the caller ID. This was landline days. And I’d put it face down and stop the ringer. But it’s ring until the person hung up. Because we didn’t have a machine. I was just locked in the cycle. I got out not much later. And now I’m with a wonderful man and I gave birth to our wonderful, magic son. ❤️ but this son has always taken me back to wishing he’d call. Or pick up when I broke down and called. Ughhh. I’m so happy i have my happy family and he is gone and didn’t take me with him. Down his road of drugs and jail. Or take my life with his abuse
