The first scene with Billy and his mom at the carnival, everything is bright and happy and she sounds and looks better than in the second carnival scene where the colors are dreary and the mother sounds frustrated. He remembers his best version of her.

That moment is what i loved about this movie. I like that other people noticed it. His hope as a kid kept that moment alive in his head his whole life, and she did not even remember the compass.......heart breaking scene, without dragging the movie down.

@@LUCKO2022 The whole point of the movie was a journey of discovery. Him learning to access his powers. Courage and Wisdom were the last 2 he discovered during the final battle. As he finally stood up to Sivana and used his wits to lure envy out and get the upper hand when brute strength was not enough.

I love how Billy throughout the movie like wouldn’t pray with the family over the food, because I feel like he just didn’t want to get too attached and comfortable, since he knew he was just going to keep doing everything he could to find his mom... Then after he finds his mom and finds out she didnt want him cause she couldn’t handle it, he finally realized that the new family he lives with could be his as well so he starts to get comfortable and prays with them finally in the end. It’s really sad how this whole mom thing went, it really was powerful and impactful in this movie... because of what his mom did, he spent all his life running away from perfectly good families, thinking that she was trying to find him too, now he got his answer and can finally accept having a family of his own.

honestly, you have to look at Billy as someone who really just wants to get out from that house. He have zero, and I mean ZERO attachment to that family at the beginning. He had done this 7 times. That family is no different for him. He never think of Freddy( I think that's his name) as his friend for a while. Thats why he had no reserve to steal the kids bullet or helped him when he gets bullied. He is no different than everyone else that just watch when that happened. Hek, hes probably the last person that would help him. Until it gets personal. After getting the closure that he needed by finding his mother, that's when he decides to settle down. Damn I wish Joe use this point.

@ComicBookCast 3 It was a magic 3d....video?...the wizard makes it to show Billy. It's made of light particles or something so the images aren't defined enough to say it's the Rock. But it's obviously referencing Black Adam and you can make out the Shazam outfit on the figure.

About fucking time someone tells Joe to wait his turn. Joe interrupts the normal two constantly and they always just shut up and let him him have his day but Del ain't putting up with it. Joe I love you, I watch all of your videos but please work on not interrupting your guests. You have been doing a LOT better with recent videos. The movie also uses the trope / makes the point that the crippled kid was used to bad things happening and always keeping his spirits up. It's ridiculous to say the crippled kid was somehow happy or neutral about his treasured item being stolen by someone he just met. He may not care anymore because of super hero stuff but the damage was done the very moment he knew it was stolen. Billy also lied to and kidnapped police not letting them work, stole their vehicle, illegal spying on identities, wasted our tax dollars. there's 7 billion on the planet. hmm no other person is more pure of heart?? nobody that maybe hasn't stolen or lied ??? anyway lighten up del and alex ain't saying the movie is terrible. he said strong 7. that's nearly an 8/10. but these are not nit picks when the pure of heart thing is like... the main part of the whole movie.. you know?

From what I've heard and what I've read, the movie is so fun, funny and enjoyable that the time flies by quick. I guess Alex felt like it was almost 3 hours because he really wasn't enjoying it for some odd reason. I haven't seen it, so I can't agree or disagree with his opinions on the movie but I feel like he's being too nitpicky.

A big issue I have with Shazam character is his adult and kid form feels like 2 completely different character, which takes me out of the film. Shazam as an adult is like so playful and quirky yet his actual kid form is very sombre, quiet person.

Jesus I'm with Joe I loved this movie. Shame your crew didn't enjoy it as much as you. I can feel them zapping all your positive energy while watching your review. I thought this movie was excellent it's my favorite DC movie in this new wave by far. If your looking for Superman action or Batman action this isn't for you. He's a 14 year old kid discovering himself. Plus when confronted he's overmatched & untrained. It's how the story/origin is set up. He's not a finished product. So their complaint would be counter to what this story is.... you can't go into this film wanting superman that's not this film. This is "Big" of superheroes. So it's super funny. Super relatable & really a mentor film with no sensei. The sequel will be a more nuanced hero. He has to grow into the role. To fight Black Adam. There would be no arc if he was a finished product. Also he wouldn't need the Shazam family to fight the 7 deadly sins if he was a finished product at the end. His clumsiness provides context and suspense. Don't understand the complaints. Don't let them steal your joy 9/10!!!!!

He wouldn't HAVE to be trained. What part of THE WISDOM OF SOLOMON did you not get? He has the WISDOM OF SOLOMON AND THE COURAGE OF ACHILLES. It's part of the name for god sakes. He has used the Marvel family (which only had 3 members not counting Uncle Dudley who has no powers in the ORIGINAL COMICS) to fight villains in the past such as Mister Mind and Black Adam. I went into the film expecting to see CAPTAIN MARVEL and I got some kiddy movie instead. I would have been alright if they had him being a kid as Captain Marvel when he first accesses the power. But not throughout the whole damn thing. Once he figured out his powers, the movie should have gone in a original Superman movie like direction. Instead it stayed with the kiddie crap and it's NOT how the character is supposed to be portrayed. Pick up a comic book for once in your life. Go read the original Whiz Comics from the 40's they are all over then internet and are public domain for god sakes. This movie is a travesty.

Some people (like me) like to see Shazam like in the dc animation movies. Shazam in this movie is actually a new shazam. To us, once he turn to shazam, he's not a kid anymore (due to Solomon's Wisdom). And yes...it should be a superman'ish thing . Not this big gulp straw slurping 'wisdom of solomon' guy. Well...what can i say.. i kinda understand why they change shazam like this. Maybe they dont want any similarities between the shazam and superman movies. Seriously, that was one of the funnest scenes, and it perfectly sets up a sequel with having to find the 7th wizard. It would be especially cool if Black Adam returns and tries to buddy up to the kids, behave like another foster father to them, and slowly tear them apart because of his toxic nature. It would give these kids a villain that would be worthy of all of them, without having to go straight for just fighting another group of villains. What would be perfect for this is if either Billy ended up creating Tawky Tawny, or if Tawny was their house cat and they decide to just give him the power and he becomes the anthropomorphic tiger when he grows up.

Yeah, and because Billy ultimately became heroic, along with the fact that Shazam created Silvanas the villain due to his harsh treatment of the young boy, it is meant to demonstrate that Shazam was wrong. He was demanding perfection and outright rejecting everyone because they were humans. Shazam failed to realize that just because the Sins could tempt you, something they are designed to do, did not mean that you would automatically become Black Adam: Part 2. It means that his own response to trauma was to push all of mankind away, almost like he began to enjoy rejecting the children he brought before him. There is a really awesome motif of characters responding to pain and trauma by pushing others away; Billy, Silvanas, Billy's mom, and even The Wizard Shazam, himself. From a thematic point of view, this is a very well-written film.

The two big guys obviously didn’t understand why Billy was made to look like a jerk. That’s part of his character arc, along with him believing that nobody is pure of heart. Batman is the cause of many people's deaths either accidentally by lead up of his actions or by misjudging his tactics and mistakes he has made. That is how he has killed people during his career in both comics and cartoons, but only in movies he has been shown to be more conscious about them while not giving a shit. I have been a Batman fan, not a fanboy, but a fan for most of my life and as a fan, not as a fanboy, I have noticed this and seen how it has happened. Batman's purpose is to wage war against criminals and all wars have causalities. Every unwilling causality of Batman's war is seen as someone that Batman killed or caused to get killed. That however does not make him a murderer, it only makes him an unwilling killer. Killer, who does not want to kill people, but still ends up being the cause of people's death. To make it short and simple, Batman does not kill, but because his actions leads to deaths, he might as well be seen as a killer. Having a code against killing does not mean he will be able to keep everyone he tries to save alive. He will fail at trying to save people. He will fail at keeping people alive when death is present and he is the only one keeping death from reaching those people. But even when Batman fails at it, he keeps fighting. For those he failed as well as for those those he saved. THAT is what makes him a hero, not his code, but his will. THAT is the reality behind Batman killing.

In a typical movie he'd get his ass whooped, overcome his personal issues, and beat the bad guy in the end. In this movie he CANT do it all alone.
