Darin takes this song to a new level. It's all there; the pain, anger and above all pride and fighting spirit of the working man who will sacrifice their life and health for their families. A truly rare talent.

This version and the version of Mac of the same vintage were the clips we got in Australia where we first got to actually see Bobby performing!! I fell half in love, I suppose..with Bobby when our radio stations first played ""Mac"" and I thought.. who is this incredible singer who has the sheer audacity to sing a Louis song...and make it his own!!..He was, simply...the best!!..(And I like Sinatra...Jazz..Blues..Soul...rock..)..Miss you, Bobby...Miss You...

Bobby Darin is the most mesmerizing, smokin' hot males of all time. I never forgot this nights performance, it is awesome to come across it tonight. He is the best ever, can sing the heck out of any song, any time. Bobby was just having a ball here, face shows. MR. PERFECTION still touches my inner soul and heart, no one of his calibre in the world as he was tops then, as he is now in my book. What a wonderful life, if only a short one, so driven, such a perfectionest, what a legacy RIPER!

Great working over, better than Tennessee Ernie's and Frankie Laine's versions, However, it's Tom Jones' version that number 1 for me although Tom stays pretty close to the usual versions. However, I still come back to listen to this as well. It's that good.
