Hello Indiana Jack. I am a lady trucker. Used to team drive with my husband but unfortunately he passed away a few months ago. I’ve taken a leave of absence to have time to sort everything out and I’ll tell you, I really miss being on the truck having adventures. It’s familiar to hear you refer to trucking as being an adventure it’s my favorite phrase too. I Came across your channel by a happy accident. I try and stay in the trucking mindset by watching videos of trucking. I have to say I am addicted to your show!! You have such an excellent disposition and such good manners. I’ve been able to get my trucking fix vicariously through your presentations. I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy riding with you. You’ve filmed a lot of the same places and highways that I’ve traveled and it has been refreshing to see them again with a new perspective. Keep on filming your wonderful videos and I’m definitely looking forward to your next one. I wish you many happy trails🚚🚚🚚. Maybe we will cross paths out there one day.

I keep comin back here Jack. I Think it is because you understand the balance between trucking and talking. Many of the things you tell us, other tubers would tell at a truckstop with the camera in their face and it gets boring listening to them. With you I can listen to you and old red and see you truckin Down the road at the same time. It truly becomes and adventure! Anyway, Just my 5 cents from Denmark ! Thank you ! and god luck over there to you and old red 👍

Oklahoma gives that 1,000 lbs. allowance. The way ODOT explained it to me was, 1,000 lbs. won't even get you called in, and up to 1,500 lbs. is at the discretion of the officer on duty.

I know Ol'Red has done you proud over the years, but I definitely understand if you want to enjoy some more up to date creature comforts that will help you to ride easy on into retirement. I really like that new VNL860 but a 2015 VNL780 is closer to my budget. Whatever you do with Ol'Red, just make sure she's happy 👍

Today I had a play with sliding my tandems as the load I picked up was 43,300 pounds. Jumped on the cat scale. And found I was heavy on the trucks tandems. But also had to fuel. Was happy to find out that the first scale house was closed running north on I 40. Which gave me a few miles to blow off some of the new fuel I just inquired. The second scale house however need me green. Heading to the north west portion of Wisconsin.

when i was hauling potatoes, i knew the shippers would try to max out the weight, so i always filled my fuel tanks 1st, even the reefer. then when i pre-scaled at the shipper, they couldn't max me out. sometimes the receiver wants so many pounds of potatoes, but i wasn't going long distances without fuel ,and run out somewhere along the way. plus the Rockies are high mountains, climbing up and down them takes a lot of fuel. in my day, we didn't have all the toy's y'all have today.

Pull a little trailer behind your regular trailer with a fuel cell mounted on it that can hold 500 gallons, LOL. ... Talking of fuels, make sure you are putting in the additives for Algae & injector cleaner that also cleans carbon off the valves in with your fuel. I would also carry extra fuel filters with me and a strap wrench ( or what ever wrench it takes, some filters have a bolt welded to the top) to get the old filter off and snug up the new one. Make sure you grease or use a heavy oil on the new seal ring or "O" ring when replacing any filter. Check the water separator often too, take a sample into a little jar and leave it settle for while (perhaps overnight on your 10 hour break) and that will really help you to know the condition of your fuel which is important that the truck does not leave you sit somewhere but more so for fuel millage. .....I don't hear of many trucks doing much better than 6 miles to the gallon on average...... Always nice riding with you Jack. Stay safe and Gold Bless.

If I go into a shipper that I know is going to load me heavy, I always make sure I have full tanks when I roll in so I can have the load reworked to accommodate the full tanks. I know this only works if the shipper has a scale, but just an idea to make sure they don't cut your fuel weight out when they load you.

Indiana Jack brings up some valid points ..... Where are the brilliant minds of today, compared to those of years ago? Why make the drivers pay for first-class? Over-loading by shippers would stop immediately, if there were mandates holding the shipper accountable for it! After all, isn't it THEIR responsibility to know what is being shipped to THEIR customers? Truck drivers are only hired to haul someone else's product! And the point you make stating how foolish it is for a shipper to load a truck so heavy that the driver isn't able to legally top off the fuel to get the product to the destination!! Being able to haul fuel is equally as important as getting the product there!

The weight of gas problem.. if a truck is over weight, the weight stations should look at the gas reading in the truck and calculate a weight of gas to subtract from weight total. Seems easy enough to create a mathematical formula.

Charge the Shippers for any OVERWEIGHT the truckers have to pay for moving their Cargo.. Then pay the trucker double the amount for moving that freight.. The Truckers will soon be moving cargo well under the allowable weight limits.. If the Truckers were ORGANIZED the shippers would soon find out that nobody will move their freight..

My suggestion is that trucks and trailers would have a registered road ready weight. The truck with full fuel and road ready. The same with trailers, if a reefer it would have full fuel and any liquids or equipment that would make it road ready. When you would take the registered road ready weight of the tractor and trailer combine them you would then have the means to determine the registered maximum cargo weight that a shipper can use to calculate the maximum amount of product allowable on the vehicle. The carrier would supply the shipper the maximum registered cargo weight for any combination of vehicles available prior to entering a contract to place the shipping order. If you would add or remove any component of the truck or trailer altering the road ready weight it would have to be re-certified each year with the annual inspection. This would create an equal playing field for all carriers and a realistic weight calculation for shippers. It would also give truck manufacturers an incentive to innovate with better lighter designs that will save fuel and allow for larger cargo weight with design improvements. :-)
@MrPjcrews
@MrPjcrews 6 жыл бұрын
Jafo Thedaytrader , the Gov could tell, for safety reasons, tell the shoppers that the maximum weight per load is 40,000 lbs. That would give plenty of room for the tractor weight and fuel. But.... There's no money coming in if they did that. The fees for the tickets would end. So... we can hope they would cap the weight and maybe transfer any overweight ticket to be the shippers problem not the carrier as long as the carrier has a certified scale ticket proving of the weight and a Sealed trailer that matches the paper work by number proving the the carrier didn't add anything to the trailer after leaving the shipper. That would end the overweight stuff.
