I set line fish the snake river, out in Idaho. Not the same conditions, but I'll tell ya a secret. I tie my baits on. And double hook them. Since I started doing that I haven't lost a bait, unless a big fish snaps my braid. I use 90lb braid on my lines, and 60lb to tie the bait on. The tie is attached to the line ,but also to the second hook, pointed opposite directions. And wear some gloves, so you don't ruin your hands.

I think the poles are to short and not enough give to play the fish out.. had that problem with limb lining too f the branch isn’t flexible enough hooks straighten out or they twist off

That intense heat stretch caused a huge carp kill off here on the Ohio River about an Hour downstream of Evansville in western Kentucky. The weather was beautiful this weekend but with the dead fish everywhere we had a tough weekend- the few we did catch were gorged and had huge stomach full of carp
