Victoria Cilliers was going skydiving, something she had done thousands of times before. However, this time it would go horribly wrong for her. An investigation would determine her parachute had been tampered with, and it would lead right back to her own home.

There are a handful of cases of people surviving parachute fails and essentially fire falling to the ground. It’s a mystery of how it can happen, as it is not uncommon for organs to rupture during the sudden deceleration of severe car accidents.
@LibertyRapsher

@@onaematopia It wouldn't matter if she fell 1,000 or 33,000 feet. The fall speed would be the same. So everybody falling from a 750 foot height or higher are all in the same club. However those with parachutes including the chick in this video may have gotten some degree of drag from their broken parachute, but someone falling from a plane freestyle and living is insane. After hearing these insane survival stories and it was me with the broken parachute I would make sure to hit head first just in case. I would in no way shape or form want to survive.

Some of the PanAm 103 survivors in December 1988 actually survived the blast and the fall, but died later of exposure. Some people were found with clasped hands and dirt under their fingernails as if they had tried to crawl. Someone else was apparently found strapped into a seat with no physical injures beyond a few broken bones, and would probably have lived if help had arrived immediately. Bear in mind this was Scotland in December.

Well he was in a pretty tight fuckin spot, cause the "standard checks" would have caught the issues that caused the parachute to completely fail. Cause you're checking for that kind of stuff. I'm sure if he had answered correctly they'd have followed up with pointing out what was wrong with the cute, and how his checks should have caught it, and thus catch him in a obvious lie. The "I don't remember" excuse is at least hard to prove is a lie beyond a reasonable doubt, even if it's sus AF. Better to be nailed with gross negligence than first degree murder. I once fell 50mtrs (150ft) from a tree whilst climbing, I hit the ground at the same velocity as if I'd jumped from a plane without a chute. I survived after breaking 35bones, including 7 vertebrate! I managed to remove my harness with my one arm that wasn't broken and walked about a mile back to our camp (I had been climbing alone), adrenaline is an incredible thing! When I got back to camp I collapsed and was taken to hospital. 20yrs later I still suffer from the damage done in the fall, but I'm alive, walking, and happy and healthy. My reason for writing this is to point out that it IS possible to hit the deck at terminal velocity and survive, just like Victoria. I also landed on a forest floor that was about 5ft deep with first debris and a huge amount of soft ground, which also saved my life like the ground Victoria landed in. It's: VERY possible to survive a terminal velocity fall, I'm living proof of it. I salute you Victoria, it's a hell of an experience to survive, and I think you're amazing! ❤ You're a true survivor!! ❤

I've never been through such a crazy experience since, but I'll never forget those seconds of falling and everything I thought of during that time. I'd love to know how your mind worked during this falling time Victoria, it's a crazy feeling where the time slows down to every second feeling like an hour. If you're reading this, could you tell me what went through your head whilst falling? I thought of everything from my mother to how silly I must look if anyone could see me, a bit like an old cartoon where you see the characters arms and legs flopping about in the wind, to the damage I'd done to an ants nest in the tree I'd been climbing, to my partner who was close by (a kilometre away), and trying to grab the rope that was quickly disappearing beside me, which would have slowed my fall if I'd managed to grab it. Plus a million more things I can't list all of them here. If anyone else has had a huge fall, please let me know what you thought of during the fall. Thanks!

I once met a young man who five years earlier had jumped out of a plane with a parachute that did not open. He crashed into the ground but survived with many, many broken bones and internal injuries. His parents were told he would not survive, then they were told he likely would never wake up, then they were told he would be brain damaged and in a wheelchair, then they were told he would never walk. When I met him, he was fine. I had a hard time believing his story but his parents were right there, telling my parents about what a miracle it all was. Just thought I'd mention that. Every time I hear the word parachute, I think of that young man.

According to statistics, 2x/week is exactly the average amount of sex that long term couples have, both married and unmarried. I knew someone who'd worked with Cilliers, and described him as 'The type of prick that always thinks he's better than everyone.' Having done a tandem skydive, once, the whole time my fear was "What if the parachute fails." The amount of trust you have to put into the gear and anyone who packs your gear, is incredible. I’ve got over 800 jumps. It’s actually more likely you’ll be killed/injured driving to the drop zone than on a jump. While yes it’s risky- there’s a LOT of training and safety checks. Every parachute system has two parachutes even tandem rigs. If the first parachute doesn’t open you toss it and another comes out. People who pack reserve parachutes have to be certified riggers… so this sport isn’t just “let’s hop out the plane and see what happens” lol.
