Her "self diagnosing" as autistic makes me feel like she's admitting to being a narcissist. She's looking to get the disabled treatment and not the narcissist treatment. I mean, who wants to be labeled as a narcissist? Especially in that industry. However, it can be overcome. There's no medication for empathy. It's a learned behavior. Yes, a learned behavior. We're not born with it. That's called upbringing.

Compassion can be taught but empathy is something that is inherent. Someone can’t teach you how to feel what others feel. Compassion is to show concern and grace towards someone or something without actually feeling the same emotions they are experiencing. If anything then compassion can be taught but not empathy. You can learn to empathize with different experiences as you yourself experience them or things that make you feel the same emotion. Until then, it is simply compassion. She sounds like she is educated, but does not know how to handle being questioned about experiences that triggered her. She handled it with grace considering she constantly felt challenged and attacked, but it’s an issue that she even felt that way to start with. I think narcissist is used very loosely as well. She may fit the criteria but there’s such a thing as having a big ass ego without actually being a full blown narcissist. She might just be egotistical af.

My son has autism. It’s a very difficult thing to deal with and I’ve been dealing with it for the last 16 years that he’s been alive. One thing I will say is that when you do have autism it’s not something that you wanna go around and tell people about so for this lady to be pissed that people don’t believe her she should be happy that nobody knows nobody goes around parading that they have autism. 100% she has not have it but let her go around and say it if it makes her feel better so is just making herself look crazy and there’s definitely a difference between crazy and autism.

The part about autism being difficult to assess in Black women does ring true BUT the way she uses it ain't right. I think she used that fact so if she ever revealed she self-diagnosed, she could fall back on that statement. I was assessed, evaluated and later diagnosed with Autism. It was very difficult to find someone qualified for one. I found 2 clinicians near me and one of em was booked for months up to a year. It's definitely difficult for Black women to even find qualified clinicians. Good on your relatives for not havin' a difficult time 🎉 it should happen more often
