WASPI - labour promised justice, not £ "compensation" for no reason meaning free money. I would say that an Ombudsman outcome which states 90% of women did know about the change means that the government's (and the previous government's) decision not to give out free money is delivering that justice. With any change there will most likely always be around 10% of impacted individuals who will nto become aware of the change. Tax payers cannot keep compensating people for their lack of awareness.

The other 10% claim not to have been aware. In this latter case if they have suffered some loss it is because of their lack of awareness and not because someone else has taken something from them. Well, possibly. Perhaps it was a bit unfair that she took all the flak when others like Chris Philp and Lucy Fraser helped to plan it but got swiftly moved from the Treasury to other positions that seemed a bit like a promotion. I wonder if calling the mini budget a ‘fiscal event’ to avoid scrutiny may not have helped. It may also have led to the reduced trust from voters in the Tory Party that led to their demise. Where do we go now - we’ve tried Tax Cuts and now Tax increases and neither seem to work. Best wishes and thanks for your thoughts.

They start the problem- Major, they accelerate the problem-Osbourne, then they receive the report and sit on it-Sunak, and now feel entitled to the moral highground. They would have said no to compensation also, that's what they did be delaying the decision. They knew they would lose and this would be an issue they could attempt to gaslight over.

@gray41 No “ Labour leader Keir Starmer indicated two years ago that he backed WASPI women, so does his manifesto commit to compensating them? It appears not. Released on 13 June, the 2024 Labour manifesto contains no reference at all to WASPI compensation or the recent ombudsman report. According to the Daily Record, during a press conference before Labour released its manifesto Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: "There are lots of things that a Labour government might like to do, but the state of the public finances and the dire need of our public services means that we won't be able to do everything that we might like to do." She went on to say: "We won't put forward anything that is not fully costed and fully funded, and I haven't set out any money for this [compensation for WASPI women]."

If any of these things happened under the Tories... it wouldn't be reported, and nobody would care. The right wing media will use anything and everything they can throw at them to try and see if it sticks, they NEVER took the Tories to task like this. Ever. Starmer gets a £400 pair of glasses gifted to him and it's a disgrace, but Boris has £800 rolls of wallpaper donated to him and... nothing, it had to be leaked and then largely ignored by the right wing press. Let's not forget the £800,000 line of credit he got. Again, leaked and largely ignored. PPE contracts for mates, test and trace app contracts for mates, none of whom had the facility or expertise to provide such things but still got hundreds of millions and indeed billions in the case of the test and trace. It's worth mentoring we had a working, world leading test and trace system in place before 2011 that was set up after SARS in 2003. The Tories got rid of it during austerity.
