Please add a water bucket with either a bottle of Gatorade mixed in or some molasses and salt. She will drink it and it will encourage her to drink. As for the medication, if it’s SMZ’s, try soaking the pills in a little water to make a soup and add molasses and applesauce. She may eat it if it taste okay. If not, add molasses to the liquid so that it tastes a bit less bitter. Great job following up on her aftercare!!!

She’s so beautiful. My last horse was a buckskin but was a gelding. Makes me miss him so much 😢. This is so wonderful to see you with the horses I remember when you were so afraid of sweet Amy. Hi Jake .I've had horses a long time. I had a horse this summer who needed med for a few weeks. I had to crush the pills just like you. I then would give her a small amount of what ever feed you have youe horse on and the secret to getting them to take the med is Molasses ❤. You just drizzle a small amount in and a touch of hto like 3 table spoons and stir. Paris will take what ever your trying to without any fuss. Wanted to share what I learned myself.

Poor Paris! Shes a very pretty girl! I hope she feels better soon! Did the vet suggest a salt lick to get her to drink? I know horses need salt and mineral licks so maybe she could use one? Probably wouldnt hurt. As far as exercise maybe she needs to be able to run around with someone her own size? Across the fence is one thing but she or Willow could get hurt if they got too excited. And they have big rubber jolly balls, I think thats what theyre called, that they can play wirh. Or that can be hung and played with. I am a tad nervous about the stall. That roof is very low and she could seriously injure herself if she got spooked. Not tryin to tell you how to rake care of her. Just wanna see her get well soon and be happy and healthy and safe. And that is: their hearing is very sensitive and it is not good to do any sort of yelling at any pitch right in the horse's face and ears. That's it. That is one of the things that I happen to know. You are doing amazing and fantastic work. You have a beautiful new baby, you have a beautiful older baby, you are training yourself and your horse and doing a fantastic job, you are taking care of your current property, you treating your sick horse, you are helping your relatives with various projects, you are prepping and exploring your new property, and Happy Wife, Happy Life. I love your relationship with Paris... Even though she doesn't like getting the medicine she really doesn't fight you all that much for it. Is very smart of you to spend time with her after the medicine just walking around and spending time with her, believe me she misses your rides together and she doesn't understand why you're not riding her. She does understand that you're spending time with her and that's very important 😁

Pill giving tip from my experience: my horse loved this, and it was a good thing, as he had to have meds daily! Crush the pills (I used a cheapo coffee grinder) and mix with a bit of molasses. Pour over whatever grains the horse gets (or even treats!) and it worked like a charm for my Scottie! He thought it was delicious!

Hope this can help you. To give horses syringes. Stand next to her shoulder/neck on the right side. Slide your left arm under her neck and put your hand on her nose to hold her. With your right hand, give the syringe. Also, once you gave the syringe, keep her head up so that she doesn’t spit out the content. Good luck with all the medicine.

If you give her grain put some salt in it you can buy mineral salt powder less than tea spoon in her food. The wet her food to make sure she gets some water. Or put some grain in some water to make it sweet or you put alfalfa in water. Or you can buy so electrolytes from valley vet in a tube that too will make her thirsty so she drinks. If she don’t drink can colic. I’m not found of one at tractor supply but you can buy big multi serving from valley vet.
