@@lennyztrobos8678 Very true. Edward Norton brought the gravitas back to the Hulk that it needed, but then Marvel decided to tone it down and turn him into a literal comedic relief character who was little more than a bumbling fool. Also, Ruffalo in no way came across to me as a brilliant nerd scientist the way Norton did.

@vsmith6109
@vsmith6109 Жыл бұрын
Personally, I rarely ever experience anger. I experienced anxiety when I was cat called and honked at when walking to work in the early 2000s...wearing polo shirt and dress pants. It became so routine that I would count the events daily and considered 5 in one day the personal best. One older 60+ guy with a cane even tried kissing me...saved by the city bus stopping and a man yelling at him. I experience frustration when an unprofessional idiot is hired in after interviewed on sports to get a commercial manager position that I feel I deserve. I knew I deserved it after 6 years dedicated and already multi tasking into the position to know the regulars and secure new contracts. I of coarse quit that month with a new job. I was promoted in the new job within 9 months. The idiot left in 3 months. They had to hire 4 new people the week I left to prepare for turn over. I experience sadness as the ultimate emotion. The event of sadness is the ugly cry. It's unsustainable and there is clarity afterwards to resolve the pain. Thoughts focused to accept the pain or plan within limitations to overcome or sacrifice to another direction. Accepting the pain in sadness if bad enough becomes depression. Anger though...the last time I was actually angry was 10 years ago screaming at my 8 year husband about bringing over his new girlfriend to stay the night shortly after dumping me. Anger has the event of a loud argument and maybe violence left with the consequences. If unresolved anger...it becomes hatred. I experience all other cousin emotions to stress and pain. I know people are complex and there are angry violent women just as some men may be more prone to crying in stress. Still an emotionally balanced woman probably rarely ever experience anger. That would be good if the writers embraced the difference of women being emotional but not often angry. That could be a qualified reason to why she has control over the hulk. Her stress reaction is anxiety and frustration...not so much anger.

@@vsmith6109 While you may have a slight point, she's still and will probably always be a trash character. Imagine telling a dude who's almost witness extinction of an entire race by a purple alien. Saw their friends die infront of him multiple times, and got his ass beat by the same purple alien. Not only that crippled his arm to bring back the same almost extinct species only to be near fotter to the same purple alien. + Suicidal thought and intense trauma without being freely able to expression emotion. Yea what she's experienced is little to nothing compared to the Hulk.

That is the point. Hulk has infinite, untapped potential, at the cost of a nigh-complete instability. She is stable, but will never amount for anything greater than she already has. Kinda like Abomination, she is failed experiment - there is no exponential power growth in either of them… Only Hulk is truly unique and interesting, comparatively speaking. So, Hulk acting grown up with a smile compared to an inferior version of himself who is delusional and made herself to believe that “she has it harder”…. Pinnacle or comedy and irony. Hulk is akin to a long-fuse nuclear bomb. She Hulk is a short-fuse fire cracker… And it SHOWS in how they behave and approach these things.

@@kingol4801But the problem is that isn’t what she’s supposed to be. She got turned into a Hulk by getting exposed to his blood, so why in the world would she turn out so different for absolutely no reason?
@kingol4801
@kingol4801 3 ай бұрын
@Croach193 Because of lower dosage and lack of neurodivergence. Banner had Hulk alter-ego even before he became Hulk. Banner suffered from dissociative personality disorder due to his (in some versions, parental) trauma. All radiation did was let the Hulk out, but radiation did not give birth to that identity - Banner did many years ago. So, Hulk was neurodivergent. His brain chemistry was abnormal. Therefore, She-Hulk got a lower dose of Hulk’s radiation, as well as did not possess any unique or exceptional brain chemistry to make it work. So, She Hulk got very very generic Hulk powers. In comics (old man Logan) Hulk grapes She-Hulk and produces incest kids. All Hulk offsprings gain typical Hulk abilities, but in a manner how she-hulk does - very limited extent of them, with no room for massive growth. Hulk (superhero name) is different because he is Hulk (“evil” second identity of Bruce Banner). Hulk is unique and an outlier compared to every other Hulk-powered hero or villain, because of his mental disorder.

The way she behaves it would make perfect sense to tell her “you know there are starving children in Wakanda, who would love to have your problems”. @@agliodario8748 See, I didn’t read the comics but I liked She-Hulk in the cartoon from 1996 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Hulk_(1996_TV_series) and that does include things like Jen meeting the people who thought she was a loser in high school and showing them up now that she’s She-Hulk but in that cartoon she never says or implies that she has it worse than Bruce does but is actually quite compassionate towards him. And even in the episode that I’m referencing She-Hulk ends up saving the people she’s showing up from the Monster of the Week in response to the attack because that’s what she does. And the live-action show could have managed something like that if the online trolls who gave her hell ended up being the would-be victims of the climactic villain and She-Hulk ended up having to save the people she most hated. There would be some problems with execution but (if Titania were smarter) they could easily have had it revealed that Titania had experienced a similar misogynistic backlash as She-Hulk did and therefore wanted to target and kill those men for it with it being revealed that the Toxic Men aren’t the villain but the people She-Hulk has to save much to her chagrin. I know that Thor basically did the same thing when Thor discovers that Loki’s actually planning to murder the Frost Giants, ancestral enemies of Asgard, rather than being in league with them and as such Thor has to save his most hated adversaries so it’s something the MCU already did once but it worked when they did it. In a series of fantasy novels I’m reading called The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, the Hero has to swear an Oath that “I will protect those who cannot protect themselves and I will protect even those I hate so long as it is right” and he struggles with the latter part of it and that’s a part of why he works as a character. I lost it on the "Infinitely more than you" line, too. The story of the Hulk, of Bruce Banner, or David... whichever variant of cannon you're looking at... Is a story of pain, of every sort, in endless measure. He was abused as a child, experimented on, watched his mother be murdered, watched his wife die because he wa physically weaker than the average guy (not MCU), finds love again only to be dosed with gamma and killing dozens of people the first time he hulks out... Eventually leaves her to prevent her being used by her own father to get at him... And while searching for a cure, his blood is used to create the abominatino, killing hundreds.. Guilt dragged him out of hiding to deal with that, then he goes back only to be dragged back against his will and magic used on him to make him repeat the abomination scenario ... himself. The line about eating a bullet was misplaced, because ANGER has never been the problem for Bruce Banner. Survival has. He is constantly undergoing pain of the sort that would destroy any other living thing outright, or at the least, shatter the mind of any other person... But he's trapped forever in the health of the Hulk, unable to even lose his mind in a meaningful way because even his brain is constantly being healed. He's trapped in what could very well be an immortal body that prevents him ever having any kind of life, and makes him a constant target for all manner of creature. But yeah, she gets catcalled, so he should just shut it and let her tell Him how to be a Hulk.

Supposedly the character whose whole struggle and focus theme is anger management is less good at it than a random woman because wOmEn gO tHrOuGh sO mUcH. Also she says she had to learn to control her anger otherwise she would have been stigmatized as the stereotypical "emotional woman", as if emotional or irritable men were praised in society or something. I do love Hulk's maturity though. Even while being shouted down by someone who clearly doesn't know what they're talking about, he doesn't snap back. He DOESN'T raise his voice. He sees that she believes what she's saying, acknowledges her pain, and does his best to sympathize with it. Now, I don't know if the show has the REVERSE happen (I haven't watched it), but it would be kind of insane if it didn't go there by the end.

It’s happened several times in the comics. He was killed by the Sentinels in the Days of Future Past timeline (probably by Nimrod but it was never 100% confirmed how they did it). Hulk is immeasurably strong but he’s not immortal. And I think Dr. Strange defeated him a couple times by channeling a fraction of Zom’s power, a mystical entity that can obliterate 95% of the Marvel Universe. Lastly, Wolverine literally tore through Hulk’s bowels & intestines after he devoured him in the Old Man Logan storyline. So killing/defeating Hulk is incredibly difficult, but not impossible.

@@Nuke27 I don't think you understand what the stones are. They were made at the same time as the universe came into being meaning they hold enough power to create a universe. Hulk got away with a burnt arm because he absorbed most of the gamma rays, there are other cosmic rays that exist in the universe. Anti-matter and dark matter for example. We don't have many ways to interact with them but we know they exist infinitely in space cause if not, Coulomb's force, that keeps charges away from each other would have nothing to oppose it so atoms will repel from one another and dark-matter is basically the gravity that negates that repulsion. Anti-matter is even worse, matter + anti-matter = 0, they violently combine to form nothing so Hulk should have lost his whole arm but because his healing is insanely fast, it was only burnt by the energy of a universe.

I’m a woman. I’ve been catcalled, harassed, belittled and mansplained to many times before. Yeah it sucks ass but it’s not even on the same planet of what Bruce has to deal with. I’ve also had a lot of fucked up stuff happen to me that’s landed me in therapy to this day and frankly, implying that getting catcalled is on the same level as having a violently abusive father is beyond insulting. I’ve grown up relating to Bruce Banner because of the comics and especially the show in the 80s because it was the first time I didn’t feel like I was overreacting for being hurt by what had happened to me. She Hulk claims it’s trying to empower and relate to all women, and there’s no shortage of people trying to defend it, but that just isn’t true. It’s made for a select small group of shallow, selfish, highly privileged women who have never had anything truly bad happen to them but want so badly to be oppressed anyway so they have an excuse for bad behaviour. The secondhand embarrassment is off the charts.

It also sucks to see Marvel dropping the ball on adapting one of their cool characters from the Hulks comics. We haven't had any Hulk characters debuted in the MCU since the Hulk Movie, and now they ruin She-Hulk by making her a horrible cousin to Bruce and an annoying Protagonist. Every time she broke the fourth wall in the show I was so sick of her bullshit that I just wanted her to shut the fuck up. Which sucks because it's obvious that as a character in concept, Jen has the potential to be a great main character and have her own phenominal show. But we got this instead. A damn shame

I also definitely loved the fact that I was then hunted for years by the government in an operation to catch, experiment on and then kill me, lead by my girlfriend's father, which lead me to try to kill myself and when I couldn't even manage that, had to finally run to another continent, where I was still not left alone. Joining the Avengers was especially easy, loved having to ward off an alien invasion, hurting people I care about against my will, getting mind controlled to hurt even more people, getting trapped for two years in my own body on an alien planet, and having to fight in a war against gods right after I wake up just so that I can return to Earth. I also didn't care that all those nice people I met on the ship were immediately murdered in front of me while I could only helplessly watch, and continue to doubt myself after being unable to stop the genocide of half the universe, which I only was able to fix after 5 years of trying to fix myself and after many deaths of people close to me and having to resist the pain of the very fabric of the universe in gem form trying to tear my arm apart. "I get cat called" You are an upper class attorney who was just given a massive career opportunity purely because of your superpowers. How about you deal with a little bit of imposter syndrome instead of shitting on the man who saved your life? The dude used to destroy cities because he stubbed his toe and you're like "woah you are being way too overbearing here." People hated captain marvel because she mastered her own powers INSTANTLY, had no real life problems to overcome and was gifted everything. Looks like it's happening again. Seriously, look at the shit spiderman has to endure to continue his double life as Peter Parker and spiderman, then compare that to she-hulk or captain marvel. They have so much more power just given to them, which they master instantly. Then they don't even need to lead a double life. Their only obstacle to overcome is a handful of evil men holding them back.

I remember in an interview, Stan Lee said that he always made his characters these larger than life heroes, but gave them real world problems. And let's be honest, that's why they did so well. Because they were these gods and heroes, but despite that they were relatable in a sense. They had real problems. Now, with She Hulk, Disney is essentially undoing all of that. Not saying that catcalling and stuff like that is ok, but just the fact that your having a character who's one of the last original Avengers, who's gone through a massive amount of pain and trauma, suddenly become the exact opposite of what he was meant to be, and be overshadowed by a character who is similar to him, but not as dark, is disappointing and in all honesty, in my opinion, it feels like they are spitting on Stan's grave and destroying what he and many others worked so hard to build. But this is all just my opinion and how I see this

Disney’s been doing this plot point of “you wouldn’t understand, im just so troubled” a lot nowadays and they always convey it in the worst way against the worst characters. If they actually showed how these characters struggled with their problems in ACTUAL meaningful ways (like physically being unable to go through with their daily lives and ACTUALLY showing that they’ve lost everything) instead of just occasional minor inconveniences and then complaining that the established hero’s they are taking too who’ve gone through multiple movies and arks don’t have it as rough as them who have had like MAYBE 1 hour of screen time total is just so dumb.

It's accurate to the comics though. That's the point, Bruce is mentally damaged, he had another personality in there because he didn't deal with his traumatising past (which isn't portrayed in the movies). He is obviously doing better now as shown by him being in the hulk state and still not flipping into the hulk persona. She-Hulk doesn't have multiple personality disorder from the get-go, so her anger is not as big an issue. Bruce's mistake is assuming other people would have the same mental disorder he has. That still doesn't mean what Bruce did is wrong, but he's obviously not great at understanding this from her perspective.

1. "Between Hammer And Anvil” (The Incredible Hulk #182, 1974): In this issue, Hulk meets an old musician named Crackajack Jackson. They bond over beans, and during a fight with prison escapees, Crackajack is killed. Hulk buries him in the woods. Their strange friendship stands out, as Jackson accepts Hulk without judgment, and they become friends. It’s a touching moment that reveals the Hulk’s tender side. 2. “Ruins” (Marvel Comics): In this alternate Marvel Universe, Earth is demolished by nuclear warfare. Bruce Banner’s transformation into the Hulk takes an even more horrifying turn. Instead of becoming big, strong, and green, his skin turns black, cracks, and tumors grow throughout his body. The CIA locks him away, and he lives the rest of his life as a giant cancerous mass. It’s a disturbing and heartbreaking portrayal of the Hulk. 3. “Always On My Mind” (The Incredible Hulk Vol 2 #25): Mourning the loss of his wife, Bruce Banner struggles to maintain control over his emotions. Eventually, the Savage Hulk leaps into the sky. This poignant moment showcases the internal battle between Banner and his alter ego. 4. The Onslaught Saga: During the “Onslaught: Marvel Universe” storyline, the X-Men and other superheroes face the powerful being Onslaught. The Hulk decides to alter the playing field by having Jean Grey silence the Bruce Banner side of his personality, leaving only the raging Hulk. The force of cracking Onslaught’s armor splits the Hulk into two-Hulk and Bruce Banner. Banner sacrifices himself alongside other heroes, while the Hulk remains. Oh, WORLD WAR HULK. If ANYONE says Jen Walters had a harder time than Bruce, I will hunt them down and smack the sh*t out of them like I'M THE HULK.

I think the scene is parallel to society. As a woman, it pisses me off that women really do believe they have it worse than everybody else. Life shits on all of us. Yes in different ways, and yes in some worst ways than others but pain is pain. Trauma is trauma. Society stays sweeping men’s trauma under the rug. It’s rude and disgusting. That's the same in the comics. They even did the same thing where Bruce tries to help train Jennifer. Major difference being Jennifer is sympathetic to Bruce's dilemma, and she comforts him in knowing that she'll be fine and that she loves it. She was very understanding and friendly to Bruce in the comics, since they grew up together after Bruce's dad was taken to prison. The worst part about this scene wasn’t what everyone keeps bringing up - it’s the fact even Jennifer acknowledges Bruce’s trauma and then brushes it aside like it wasn’t a big deal AND then goes on to say how men try to tell her how to do her how to handle her area of expertise while trying to tell Bruce how to handle his area of expertise. If you really listen to her, she just comes off as a hypocrite. But another thing people seemed to not notice or care about, was Jen was full of shit, she doesn’t know how to control her anger and they showed that by her hulking out at the end of the conversation. Then to top it off, the actual truth makes it all far worse. The only reason Jen can control it “better” is because Bruce was exposed to far more gamma radiation than she ever was. The Savage She Hulk run showed us what Jennifer Is like after more exposure and she’s exactly the same as Bruce is with Savage Hulk. Just another case of the writers forcing bullshit on the audience while not knowing or caring for the source material.

actually she is worse than bruce, that was HER savage hulk isn't bruce, it's hulk. hulk is almost like a soul of his own, it has shown multiple times he can exist in a body without bruce. so bascially she's a psycho on the level of hulk, a creation made to infintitly hate and rage on his mother's killer🤦‍♂

My problem with this show is the "woke" bullshit, but also that MCU CONTINUES to take a MASSIVE shit on Hulk. He-Hulk, not She-Hulk...

@@PoeticSonic yeah its incredibly obvious you don't actually read the comics because Banner very much does have a Savage Hulk form, I mentioned it to contrast how Jennifer acted after she syphoned the gamma radiation off a celestial and became as aggressive and hulked out as Banners Savage Hulk. Jennifer never had the split personality, in fact no Hulk does other than Bruce, not his sons, not Betty, not Ross etc and the reason for that stems from always bottling up his anger which the others didnt do - however, Bruce was exposed to more gamma radiation than literally all of them combined which is why he became so unstable unlike the others. I own literally multiple thousands of comics, thousands of just Marvel branded comics and easily at least 300+ Hulk comics alone. pretty safe to say I'm well versed in the Hulk mythos
