I think the reason she was able to finish the basket so fast compared to the paper is experience. She's had more experience making baskets than making Papyrus. That's why she was so fast at one and slower with the other.
@phantom98312 ай бұрын
Not only that, but I think it's also because one requires to be way more precise with it since Papyrus is way thinner than baskets (I may be wrong tho)
@thetraveler6112 ай бұрын
In fact she is doing the Papyrus totally wrong too, running into a complete dead end makes the work extraly hard lol.
@Norbert_Sattler2 ай бұрын
Consider the size. That little bit of pseudo papyrus she made, is made of more individual fibres than the whole of the basket. And with the fibres being so small, it's a whole lot more difficult to weave them with bare hands, than the parts the basekt is made out of. Also it's not even really papyrus, since if I remember correctly, actual papyrus was made from reeds and pressed, not woven from grass.

it's more like comparing yarn and string, the yarm/sticks cover more area then the string/fiber

Gunther and Effa, Main's parents in this new world, have had other children besides Main and Tuuli, but they didn't live long enough to be baptized. This isn't really a spoiler, since it's something that's already happened, and it's not a super impactful reveal or anything, but it's important for context. Tuuli's baptism is incredibly meaningful for them because she is their first child to live long enough to reach this important milestone. It also helps explain why Gunther is so clingy with Main, since she is so sickly, and he's lost children already.

I saw a thread recently that proposed: What if aliens came to Earth during the time of the dinosaurs, saw how dangerous they were, and immediately left the planet alone after that. Then in the future, when humans develop interstellar travel, the aliens see a ship from Earth and grow concerned over the idea that the dinosaurs can now reach them. They act extremely nice toward us so that they can stay in Earth's good graces. In short, we can never let aliens know that the dinosaurs are extinct.
@phantom98312 ай бұрын
Well given how dangerous humans can be, I doubt that aliens would care if the dinosaurs are extinct or not. More than that, if both those aliens and humans have the science to do interstellar travels almost freely. It's not some dinosaurs, even as big as them, that would be threatening

No, you can't use any flames near a parue tree. The tree will put the flame out. It has to do with the religion in this world and is actually a perfect representation of the mythos and how the magic system works.
@Norbert_Sattler2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I'd call it "put out." The tree doesn't reach down to smother the flames, fire will just fizzle out for no apparent reason, if you get it within a certain range of the tree and the commoners have no clue how or why it happens. Just some invisible force of the universe that you just take as a grant, like gravity or wind.

@alsinakiria2 ай бұрын
Yup. An entire series about making books and it's not until episode 8 that they manage to get paper. For every step forward Myne takes in this series there's a price to pay. Either she's about to die, is dealing with the effects of the jureve, the feystone incident or the price for access to the library she has some sort of hurdle to overcome that no amount of politics or mana are going to fix. Hard work one step at a time. On a related note I like that her anime superpower is simply the ability to try harder. She wasn't born better. Far from it, but having adult memories let her try harder than others. It's the thing I liked most about Mushoku Tensei though the subject of assault in that show was a bit too much for me to finish.

Attack on Titan language... hmm.... Both series do take quite a bit of inspiration from German, so that's actually kind of true, albeit with AoT it's mostly just names, while in Bookworm, it's all over the place, names, locations, plants, animals, you name it and some of it's names are derived from German. The reason why Lutz is starving and his brother is fine is, because his brothers steal most of his food and for some reason their mother either doesn't notice or doesn't care. Oh and he has three older brothers. They really downplayed it in the anime. Anyway, in the novel Myne only directed Lutz's brothers on how to cook, but didn't do it herself, because she couldn't reach up onto the hearth without standing on a stool, which isn't the most safe thing and she doesn't have the stamina to keep stirring the batter long enough, before running out of steam. Oh and the girls went over to Lutz's place, not the brothers coming to them. By the way, Myne was born in summer, so she's something between five years and four months and five and a half years old in their world, which is a bit over six in ours ( -> 420 to 365 days per year). In the books the family is suspicious of the sudden, drastic change in their daughter, but at the same time, she nearly died over and over again, so their happiness of her being up and about and actually living instead of just existing blows any of that away. In that sense Myne was exceptionally lucky to be born into that family in particular. Families that are a bit less caring about their children, would have abondoned Myne to die, long before, and her father being such a weirdo, further makes people (at least outside the family) put Myne's weirdness down to her being just like her father, rather than becoming suspicious of her. Would we fuck with primitive species? Of course we would, or rather some of us would. You can bet that some social media "star" would try to get to that planet and mess around for fun and/or likes. Hmm... come to think of it, that would be the perfect explanation for corn circles, just some AlienTuber recording a funny video to put on the platform. ^^

I'm not sure how far you are in this anime but I'm sure by now you've seen how this anime is not just a chill type of show. I think it's great when anime do that where they seem like nothing bad would happen at first and you get used to it but soon they slowly add in stuff that makes it intense later on. Especially if done seamlessly cause it really does surprise you rewatch or at least look back at past episodes.

Not sure whether this counts as a spoiler or not since in the past death was more common and lives were cheaper than they are now, but don't forget about that feeling about things not going well forever since death is a lot more common and a live is much cheaper in that world than you might expect after the first few episodes.

7:00 If you think that is hole in the logic, there will be a big surprise... to you 2000 years from now. Since you are giving AoB a chance I can recommend TrashTierWaifu's essays on the novels that are the source of the plot for this anime. They are called "Light Novel Deep Dive: Ascendance of a Bookworm". First three should cover the first season of the anime.
@Norbert_Sattler2 ай бұрын
Or, if you have the time, read the books. ^^ Or the manga, though unlike the novels, the manga isn't finished yet. Don't get me wrong, I like TrashTiefWaifu's videos, but if you ever plan to read the books or manga, you might want to hold off on them until afterwards, since by their nature they are full-on spoilers. As for any anime watchers, who want to watch those videos without getting spoiled, the anime covers part 1 in season 1, and part 2 in seasons 2 and 3, so if you're finished with the anime, only watch the videos up to and including part 2 volume 4. The upcoming fourth season of the anime, will start with part 3 and probably cover half of it, unless they make it two-cour, then it might even be the full part, but that's just speculation on my part. To my knowledge there's no information about the next season, other than it being in production. As to what those "parts" are, the novel is split into parts and volumes. The first part "Daughter of a Soldier" has three volumes (i.e. three books) and covers Myne's life prior to her baptism. Part 2, the title of which I'll omit, since it is in itself a mild spoiler, picks up from right after her baptism and goes to the next big change in her life circumstances, over the course of four volumes. Part 3 has five volumes, Part 4 jumps to nine volumes and part 5 goes to a full 12 volumes.

An advanced people with the ability to travel to lesser developed worlds would likely cause chaos throughout the galaxy unless they're governed by some centralized organization... or perhaps Federation. In which case they'd either collectively try to trade/barter with that world without disrupting their entire culture, observe it form a distance entirely in secret, or let their intrusive thoughts win and attempt to manipulate for selfish ends... y'know, like social media. That said this is becoming an incredibly wholesome show about Capitalism!
