@@donanthebarbarian5177 while I do agree that I like SAOA's take better I don't particularly think that the original plot was bad per se. Just because a piece of subject matter is uncomfortable that doesn't automatically make it a bad plot point. *SPOILERS* . . . I mean watching what Sugou does to Asuna at the end of the arc, and by extension what happens to Kirito and his partner's pages during the first half of "Alicization", is pretty damn hard to watch too. But as for the actual point of contention here, while the incest plot point may be kind of disturbing, I personally find the reasoning behind it to be believable. The 2 of them grow up as normal siblings but one day Kazuto just starts avoiding Sugu for no discernable reason from her perspective (that reason being that he found out about his adoption), this goes on for several years where she has barely any meaningful contact with her own brother, and then he goes and gets trapped in SAO for 2 years. During this time Sugu also learns that her brother isn't actually her brother (also I'll make a point of saying that I'm not Japanese but from everything I've seen it seems like cousin relationships aren't as negatively stigmatized in Japan like they are here in the west but take that with a grain of salt) and when he comes back from SAO he just suddenly starts showing her more affection than he had in years. That's a lot of baggage for one teenage girl to deal with and I find it easily believable how this whole situation skewed her thought process into what it became. It also becomes a plot point later on that she reconciles her own emotions, returning their relationship to the siblings they were as kids. During "War of Underworld" there's even a scene where Leafa is going through hell and she pushes through by exclaiming that she is "Kirito the Black Swordsman's *little sister* " showcasing the pride she has in that fact, as well as the pride she has in Kazuto and all he's accomplished. I've definitely got a few criticisms regarding the writing of SAO, especially in the early arcs, but the foundation of the Kazuto/Sugu relationship isn't one of them. It may make me cringe, but the story as it was presented didn't force me to suspend my disbelief at all to understand how Sugu came to that point.

Asuna popping off on Sugu is not only a great scene that gives Asuna the autonomy she didn't have this season, and registers as an awesome moment for her, but also just confirmed how much she absolutely loves our little recovering Sociopath of a hero, Kirito. 21:55 No, no she's not. Remember she's a representative psychologist AI who has a personality. In this show, she also has a lack of empathy that she can apparently just turn on and off in regards to her "parents". Her lack of empathy is encouraged by our resident sociopathic couple.

Yeah originally they were going to manually go in and rotoscope the sky in every single frame of animation. Until someone suggested they make the sky glitchy, because Kirito talks about the game being broken and glitchy. And it ended up being much easier in the long run than rotoscoping.

Or you can cosplay as her from an entirely different game that comes later on in the main series where she uses a laser sword. if you want references don't be afraid to ask.

I have no idea how they did the sky, it isn't like that in the series and the juttering doesn't work with drawing mouth flaps and eye movements, they have their own banks of image for various actions, all they do is paint over the actual flaps and re do the frames for movement. The only answer I could think is that for this whole scene they went into the entire thing, frame by frame and painted a green screen over the back then chroma-keyed it with a glitching sky. And if they did that, that's insane levels of commitment to a joke that few will ever really get. The joke being that the game is just full of bugs barely working and glitches out in random and stupid ways, just like SAO did.
