It is crazy the lack of standard precautions in regards to wearing gloves during things like blood draws and wound dressings. It's like one of the first things you learn in healthcare: protect yourself and the patient. Other than that, its quite interesting to see how healthcare is carried out in other places.

It seems like most of the doctors are just telling the patients to wait, hang on, etc., and putting them off. They're pretty good at it, because I'm not sure the patients know they've just been put off!

Bless him, the fella who couldn't remember if he'd had a memory test. I do love elderly folk with a good sense of humour. Great coverage of life in a clinic, this show. Doc orders a drug or test for you. Insurance company says, "nah... not feeling it". Also, Thank God no bad careever occurs, and no bad doctors exist in the US! (sarcasm) I can speak from experience...I lived in England from 1995-2008. Moved to the USA and have been here ever since. I'd take the NHS care I received over the system in the USA any day. I'm American. I have two chronic conditions and my husband have 3 operations in the UK. Our care was top notch. My American neighbor had run out of insulin and was only taking half because he lost his insurance. And couldn't afford it without. Wouldn't happen in the UK. My 91 year old father in law is in the UK. His care, visiting carers)prescriptions, equipment (stairlift, raised toilet seats, mechanical chair, wheelchair) are all free. They even came out and repaired his chair lift on Christmas eve! My 80 year old American grandma , on the contrary, spent all her social security on co-pays Anna prescription charges. By the way, in the UK, you can get private Healthcare if you want to buy a plan. At least the nhs there is there for anyone who needs it, no matter if you just started a job, want to freelance, etc

@@bflogal18 I work for a hospital. If you go to any ER in the US you WILL be seen and an xray WILL be performed regardless of insurance or financial ability to pay. It is the LAW. When you get the bill in the mail there is a phone number that you can call to set up payments if need be. Almost all hospitals have some kind of charity program that if you're willing to fill out some paperwork and provide income you will be considered for up to 100% discount. For instance my daughter and her husband make 50,000 a year and they qualify for 100% program. Meaning anything not covered by their insurance is 100% forgiven by the hospital. Please don't talk if you don't know what you're talking about

@@joy7363 I'm not gonna comment on the situation in the US because, yeah, I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about. But if you think that x-ray thing is somehow a valid reason to condemn the entire concept of universal health care... then pretty safe to say you don't know what you're talking about either. Or, more likely, you don't care if what you're talking about is correct or not, you just have that bizarre inbuilt hatred of universal healthcare that so many Americans have. Or maybe it's more like a hatred of any part of American society being criticised. Either way, it's truly baffling to the rest of the world.
