The memory loss is so sad .. so unfair. When I was a youngun' .. I didn't care to listen to mum's boring stories of "the war" and growing up in Wigan. Now, she is 90, with dementia and can't remember, her brother and sister have passed on .. sigh .. I wish I had written it all down, the family history.

That doctor was spot on calling the injury to her Infraspinatus muscle. I am a retired massage therapist. In order to know exactly which muscle has the injury, you must figure out which action the patient cannot do. Each muscle in the body has a specific action. In the past, I tore this muscle (infraspinatus). It can be very painful.

I am struck by how each patient gets the ‘bum’s rush’, and the doctors keep talking and don’t give patients a chance to ask questions or have their concerns listened to. A lovely exception was the doctor who listened to the little girl’s chest. This is the kind of doctor every person wishes they had.

Dr Andrew is such a great doctor ... he really took his time with the man who was struggling with memory issues. Losing ones ability to remember can be so stressful and disparaging. did not know that a CT scan and blood work can determine dementia...interesting

It can’t. What it does is rule out a physiologic cause of memory loss. It’s used with memory loss.

A CT can show if there is any brain shrinkage contributing to memory loss, also checking for any lesions or masses. Labs can look for chemical imbalances.

Look up something called quinsy. People used to die of it, wtf? I've gotten it a couple of times, and before it got bad I got in there with the salt water gargles, and swallowing hard "on" it, it actually works. A little pain now or a lot later...

@@alexcarter8807 Yeah, you usually had you tonsils taken out around 4 years old in New Zealand. So, you do what you're told and don't get a chance to argue for salt gargles. I like the idea of natural cures like that though, I'll give that topic you mentioned a look.

I’m 30 and when I was a kid I had strep throat so many times and the pediatrician kept refusing to take them out but after like years of continuously getting strep and having to miss school all the time and have antibiotics tons my school actually complained and then they finally did it when I was 13 but because I was so much older it was more painful.

When I was a "professional amateur" athlete, they used to hand out Ibuprofin like candy. The result was, I trashed my stomach. For years afterward, I'd occasionally get stomach pains that were no fun. I found a few foods that helped - I'd go get a bowl of tempura udon at a Japanese place, or I'd have fried zucchini sticks with ranch dressing, washed down with a pint of Guinness, at one of the local Irish bars. The pains weren't super-bad I guess, but bad enough that I couldn't really work. Greasy drunkie munchies to the rescue I guess.

Telling a patient to take ibuprofen 3x a day for a month is totally irresponsible. Ibuprofen should not be taken daily for more than 5-7 days and the doses should be spaced out by 6-8 hours (at least).
@slc11612 жыл бұрын
It’s actually standard treatment in the U.S. for a number of orthopedic issues. And in doses much higher than what was prescribed here.
@B_272 жыл бұрын
@@slc1161 No it's not and especially not for a fairly mild muscle strain that would resolve with some at home stretching.
@victoriakefer98632 жыл бұрын
3 times a day is every 8 hours. A month is short term treatment, and not irresponsible.
@B_272 жыл бұрын
@@victoriakefer9863 Short term is relative to what the treatment is. Look it up. Most sources will say 10 days maximum and you should be seeing a doctor if you need to take it longer than 5-7 days. Every 8 hours would require you to take one in the middle of the night/early hours of the morning. If you're needing to get up in the middle of the night to take a 3rd dose consistently, you've got a problem. Using NSAIDs for long periods of time (in this case more than 10 days) increases your risk for heart disease and stroke. The patient in the video is already showing signs of metabolic disease which already puts at her risk for these conditions.
@MrZzToOoFlyY2 жыл бұрын
To many NSAIDs can cause stomach pain and ulcers, when doctors tell you to keep taking them and don’t want to do anything for the patient it is irresponsible. But he did say if it didn’t calm down he would get her PT.

Pain is real and everyone tolerates pain differently. It’s not a question of someone’s choice most of the time…it starts with pills….prescribed for pain…that’s how I started…I ended with heroin. Thank god I’m clean 5 years now…. But I don’t think this woman was doing drugs. As a former addict….I just think she is tired of being in pain…. It’s easy to judge someone when you aren’t the one dealing with said pain…
