That opening sequence with the most epic music in the entire show ("The Light of the Seven") was absolutely, insanely good. This has got to be the best season ending episode in the run of the show. And that final scene with the Targaryen/Dornish/Tyrell fleets sailing to Westeros with the dragons overhead was great.

I was so glad I was able to listen to this premiere with you guys. Sorry I couldn't drop a chat until the end (can't text while commuting). White Ravens are only sent out by the Maesters at the Citadel when they announce the changing of the seasons (each season lasting multiple years). A White Raven was last seen back in Season 2 when announcing that a long Summer had ended and Autumn had begun.

Been waiting for that Jon reveal since Angel started the show and it didn't disappoint. Also, the Varys thing is probably the first and one of the most egregious examples of a character teleporting across the map. You're right in that Dorne is technically the closest place in Westeros to Meereen, but it'd still be like sailing from Florida to Syria irl, and that's not counting having to sail around the Valyrian peninsula if he went entirely by boat. We don't know how much time passed between the scene in Dorne and the end of the episode, but i SERIOUSLY doubt it was the weeks/months it would have taken to get Varys and the entire Dornish fleet to another continent.

Varys met up with them somewhere along the way to Westeros. He didn’t go back just to travel back over the entire way There’s dornish ships amongst their fleet, he’d have been on 1 of them and sailed to meet Dany along the way

This episode is just amazing! Starting with the music and the epic acting. I love the exchange between Sir Davos and Melisandre and the one between Jon and Sansa! Jon says exactly what Ned said to Arya about the conflict between her, Sansa and Joffrey at the very beginning of the series...and the reveal of Jon's mother's identity! This episode is in my top 3 for sure!

34:36 If you look at the ships, some of them have the Martel flag on them, which means there was a small time skip. Varys would've ferried the Martel ships to Essos to give to Dany. Also, when Dany is talking to Darrio about her ships, he mentions it would still be a few weeks before the flags and sails were ready. So yeah, a little bit of a minor time jump in between Dany giving Tyrion the HATQ pin, and Dany + everyone else sailing to Westeros.

Great episode and I love you guys so much. Angel needs to be bubble wrapped to protect him, he is so precious. 51:00 - My wacky but logical to me theory is that Shireen died so Jon could return. The red priests and priestess believe that only death can pay for life (as other religions also do in the series). While Shireen was burned for the intended purpose of helping Stannis's army, instead the lord of light brought back Jon.

Amongst Danys fleet you’ll see ships with Dornish sails. Varys hitched a ride amongst their ships as they sailed to meet up with Danys fleet on the way over to Westeros He didn’t go back and travel all the way with Dany

Varys came back with Ships from Dorne!!. You can see a couple of the ships with dornish flags at the end. My only add on to this episode to make it 11/10 would have been to add the cold open of s7 in this episode but ehh. Looking forward to that. Keep up the epic work 🤩 🤩

Tommen's crown was the same one Joffery was crowned in & ware. Joffery wore a new one at his wedding with flowers intertwined, neither ever wore Roberts crown, & because they are Baratheon crowns they are all new & not handed down. The call back to the story of the Rat Cook that Bran told s3-10 after the red wedding episode, with Arya feeding Walder his sons in a pie so good, don't worry Angel _ WE ALL LOVED IT. Little finger thinking that Sansa would consider him just because he brought the vale, thinking that she would find sitting next to him appealing, probably thinking she would want it just to get back at Cersei. Not realising she has seen too much & being near kingslanding is the last thing she want's. Then still trying to get the plan in motion by trying to undermined Jon, he was always going to have to start at her side in the north to get the backing. And Cersei, she did what the Mad king was planning, what he was commanding to be done before Jamie killed him. She may have only targeted the Sept but she took out anyone to challenge her, again with the call back were Lady Olenna is telling Cersei what an awful person she is, that she has no backing "Your surrounded by enemy's, thousands of them. You going to do, kill them all yourself?"

Absolutely! The way she shaped the personality of Joffrey and allowed him to be the SOB he was led to his death. Her persecution of Tyrion set up the sequence of events that led to the death of Myrcella, and crushing Tommen's hopes and killing the love of his life led directly to his death. The worst part is that she has absolutely no internal clue that it all stemmed from her own actions.

I don’t feel like the show established really well the backstory and character of Rhaegar Targaryen and the war that put Robert on the throne. I’m curious if show-only fans caught the Jon-Lyanna-Rhaegar connection. It was pretty easy to theorize from reading the books with all the lore and the circumstances around Jon’s parentage.

Regarding the presence of Varys on the ship, what people lose track of is that we're not watching "24"... events aren't happening in real time. There was at least several weeks that had elapsed between his meeting with Ellaria and Lady Olenna and the final scene. One of the things that got lost in the shuffle in the later seasons were the little thowaway lines that gave us context of how much time had passed. Cersei's line in the very first episode "we've been traveling for a month, surely the dead can wait" told us that the episode spanned at least a month (and probably longer, as Will, the Night's Watch deserter would have needed probably weeks or longer to make it down to Winterfell on foot).

I feel bad for Angel because I was hyped as he was when I saw this episode; all the possibilities and storylines, etc. But what D&D were really doing was ending storylines as quickly as possible because they didn't gaf about the show anymore.
