Dolly's was great and she's an AMAZING song writer, but that song was perfectly crafted for Whitney Houston, and her beautiful and powerful voice did Dolly's song justice. Also, Whitney Houston wasn't a "Diva" and didn't do unnecessary trills, or overdo notes, runs, or riff when she recorded this song, that was only done later in live performances. And to the person who wrote that, the term "Diva" itself as an insult, is really sexist and annoying just f.y.i.

I don't know if Dolly should not have written "I Will Always Love You", as her (original) version is haunting and beautiful. I would suggest that maybe Whitney Houston should not have made that trainwreck of a cover. Houston's version loses all of the nuance that Parton's had, which, in my view, defeats the entire purpose of the song. As for the Beatles...I won't argue that Beatlemania was one of the biggest things to hit popular music in the last 100 years, but honestly, most of their songs are mediocre at best. Fun for sure, but nothing to write home about. Same with the Rolling Stones. I would suggest that the Beatles were a bit like Hulk Hogan: marketed extremely well, but not much to look at when you really stopped and took a peek.

@@SusanBameI don't want to sound like a troll, however the majority of people who were young enough to be enthralled by the Beatles/old enough to buy their records are not hugely likely to be on KZbin writing comments, as they're now in their mid-to-late 70s (or older). I'm not saying there's _NO_ septuagenarians on KZbin; I'm saying that it's not the largest demographic. To answer your question, no I was not alive when they were producing records, as I'm Gen-X. I _also_ stated in my initial comment that I wasn't arguing _against_ the fact that Beatlemania was "one of the biggest things to hit popular music in the last 100 years"; they were hugely popular. You can be huge culturally, hugely popular even, and ultimately not be that great musically. There's some Beatles songs I like, but the vast majority of their library is meh. As for shaping our world? I'm not sure how, as there wasn't a band even remotely like them before or since.

Jeff Tweedy - boring the shit out of us, with "edge of breakup" "americana rock" for 40 years

He's funny and sweet. I love him even though I'm not sure who he is .

Very down to earth too. Just a regular guy. He’s a singer and front man of the band Wilco. I can’t describe that band cuz the music goes through so many genres.

I don't see the point in this book! Sounds a bit self-important to me.

thankfully, this seems like a really nice guy. he's not malicious, just forthright. I don't see any mean-ness here. not that I agree with him, but I don't have to.

I've always beaten myself up for not loving nearly as much music w/female vocals as I do male vocals, like it made me a bad woman (Idk I've never told anyone this 😂 it sounds so stupid!) So when Jeff Tweedy spoke on how he as a musician sometimes dislikes songs that do things he cannot do, I felt so much better. I ❤singing, and do so constantly (poorly), but I am a true alto. Most women sing waaaay too high for my squeakiest squawk. I'm not a musician - I also play the piano poorly, but my limited ability does not mean I cannot eventually hit the right notes, but no amount of work is going to allow me to sing along with a lot of women whose music I love but just cannot sing along with at all.
