The way you have your rock wall set is the way this area had traditionally built and had "rockeries". In the space behind the rock, are planted shrubbery, bulb type plants, and perennials; every somoftem a small tree or some annuals other than just along the leading edge. A rockery could pretty much be 2 dimensional along a hill like your retaining wall, 2 or 3 sided as a yard interest or a created berm, or 4 sided more like a raised garden. Thise that are built as sturdy raised gardens with rocks set well enough ypu can c.imb up and do work and/ or run one of those small rototillers have been used for vegetable gardening from time to time and if not too wide (far from the rock) are fantastic except for slugs. I think it came with some of the immigrants who came into the region long befire my time but I don't know which group for sure.

Ms Gina - "this sucks" and also "this is more work than it looks" was what i was thinking some many years ago when we put in what became a leveled 35 yard plus parking area of 5/8" minus. PS: That rock rake Al is using works pretty well in multiple applications in the garden too.

Good morning Lumnah family from a wet Pacific Northwest. Good morning viewers. I like the rock wall you built Al. It looks really nice. The corner is crisp and clean. Your back dragging worked well. The foundation box and gravel inside is a great idea to keep the wood dry. That ramp up to it is great too. Gina did a nice job tamping it all down. I'm glad you were able to clean out the ash from the outdoor wood stove Heatmaster. Thanks for this video Lumnah family. The wood shed is off to a good start!

It's not likely broken' Water would have risen to surface making a mess of the area, it just needed leveled, Not compacted tight, cause No traffic relates !

I was wondering about the compactor as well. Also wondering why he didn't put some sort of drainage under the gravel so it doesn't fill up with water when it rains. If he slopes the roof towards the retaining wall, the runoff will all go right back into the gravel. And if he slopes the roof towards the front then he'll have to walk through the runoff when it's raining.

Next time you use the large /clean stone for subgrade pick-up a long tine garden claw meant for weeding,long handled,5"wide,4" tines, the only tool I found that works quite well moving more than 1or 2 stones at a time !
