This legit taps into a fear I had as a kid and still occasionally think about nowadays when laying in bed. It's this fear that someone is going to creep around the doorframe and just watch me. Taking in deep breaths with your nose acts like a natural benzodiazepine by lessening your anxiety. When you’re scared you’ll become hyper focused of your surroundings so that’s probably why you’re even noticing the pattern, which you could be doing to get your mind off of being frightened.
