My ex owned a neighborhood movie store back in the day, we had an entire library wall full of VHS. This movie was in the favorites section. I haven't seen it in decades. Thank you for posting this. I feel like it was a little kiss from Heaven. Shoot I can't remember the name in this movie for a kiss from Heaven...

I believe that the Porter who delivered the lilacs was the actor who plays Alfalfa.

Arthur Q. Bryan ( 14:34 & 19:02 train passenger in the club/sleeping car) speaks with the voice he created for Warner Brothers' Bugs Bunny cartoon series character 'Elmer Fudd'.

Cute movie, not the best I've ever seen, but entertaining, and filled with some of my favorite actors from Hollywood's golden era. I have never been a fan of the leading man, Lee Bowman, he just never appealed to me, and he was just a mediocre actor. But I adore leading lady Rosalind Russell, she was a powerhouse of talent. Not only was she statuesque and beautiful, she was highly intelligent and one of the best comedic/dramatic actresses Hollywood ever had. I am also a big fan of the comedic talents of Charles Winninger who played her father in the movie. And who doesn't love to see, and hear, the talented Harry Davenport, (who played the butler), with his iconic voice. Thanks for sharing an entertaining old Hollywood movie that I had not seen before.

Predictable at first, or so one might think, but then takes a turn into far-left field. The cast must have peed themselves with laughter when the cameras weren't rolling. Love the guy who sounds like Elmer Fudd!

That guy did the voice of the Loony Toon characters. He made small cameos in quite a few movies.

Rosalind was a gem and made it popular to be a respected glamorous woman instead of a pin upgirl.

This movie was filmed in black-and-white and was colorized later. In the 1980s Ted Turner acquired many films with the intent of “colorizing” the black-and-white movies. I’m guessing this movie was one that underwent this type of treatment.

It's more than just colorized. It looks like it's been manipulated by AI. The faces have lost definition and it looks chunky and cartoonish in places. I had to stop watching. Going to go see if I can find another version.

I love the political incorrectness of these old stories. Hope it will not be cancelled, even though the actions taken are highly toxic and illegal with today's standards.

In today's world, this story could not happen. The female lead would charge the male lead with stalking and sexual assault and he would go to prison.

This is funny. I thought this might be interesting. I like the actress but to my suprized the character who played the author is from the same country my parents are from.Bolivia . It's like a wow

Hate early attempts at colorization. Looks like I'm having a stroke the way the color swirls around. Cute film. That is Darrin McGavin playing the soldier in the hospital with the cartoon script. One of his very first appearances, non credited.

It's not just colorized. I can tell it's been manipulated by AI software as well. It loses definition especially in the faces after about an hour. Horrible presentation that washes out all the expression and life in the movie.

It’s a cute one, the story kinda loses credibility re the legality of the marriage - but since when should a silly thing like that allowed to spoil a film?! 😂😉😄 Thanks for this; second time around for Me - and it was still fun!

Yes, according to IMDb, Arthur Q. Bryan had an uncredited part in this movie and voiced Elmer Fudd from 1940-1959.

Has this been AI enhanced? There are some really weird shapes on faces around the 40-minute mark. It really cuts out the nice original cinematography.

After watching a little bit more, it's definitely been mangled with AI. Rosalind Russell's natural beauty is completely obscured by it. It gets really bad around 1:01:00

What makes me so sad is that this is a 1945 movie, and almost 80 years have passed (to 2025). Yet there are still women and girls being treated as if they don’t know any better or are slightly not quite normal if they want to be independent and intelligent. There are still women and girls whose fathers decide who to marry them to…like selling a goat or a cow…just another animal you own to your own benefit.

Opening scenes at the hospital - dreadful. Terrible dialog. Invalidating and confusing BS told you those soldiers. Sad.

Astonishing news...I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE (JESUS). No one comes to the Father (GOD) except through Me. John 14:6 Are you afraid of dying? Jesus died for you, repent & believe.
